The Montenegrin highlands are home to rugged mountains, endless forests of black pine, and deep canyons. You’ll explore this remote area by canyoning, hiking and relaxing on the long beaches. You’ll also discover the World Heritage Site of the Old Kotor Town.

This trip will run with a minimum of 4 people, and a maximum of 12.

Sure can! A lot of people do, and it’s a great way to meet like-minded people.

A moderate level of fitness is required for all activities. You need to be able to handle approx. 3-4 hours of activity per day.

You do not need any canyoning experience as your guide will give you full instructions and a safety briefing at the start and help you during any challenging parts. However, participants for the canyoning must be over 18 years old, swimmers, not suffering from any kind of heart or lung diseases.

The food is local, fresh, and home-cooked. Expect domestic cheeses and other dairy products, dry meats, fish, freshly baked bread and pastries, and lots of local fruits and veggies.

Summer is the best season to experience Montenegro seaside where daytime temperatures range from 24°C - 30°C. However, it can get cooler at night, so don’t forget to still bring some layers of clothing to keep you warm.

All technical equipment will be provided, including helmets, wetsuits and harnesses.

Bar is a coastal city and the largest port in Montenegro. It is surrounded by countless mountains, the largest of which is Rumia, located at an altitude of 1,595 m. From the preserved remains of the walls and fortress, you can see a wonderful view of the whole city and its surrounding area.

Situated near the southern coastal town of Bar, Medjurecki is one of the most remote and least visited canyons in Montenegro. Whilst this canyon is less well-known, Medjurecje is still able to offer stunning beauty and adventure. You’ll experience a number of abseils down waterfalls from heights ranging 15-30 meters and jumps/slides from various heights to the natural water pools below.

Start point?
You will be met at Dubrovnik Airport (DBV) on Friday where you will be transported to your accommodation in the old town of Bar. Your transfer will meet all flights scheduled to land by 13:00 or earlier. Your host will be in touch before your trip to finalise details.

Finish point?
You will be transferred to Podgorica Airport (TGD) on Sunday. You are free to book any flight departing after 10:30. Your host will be in touch before the trip to finalise details.

What to Expect

Friday: Tour through the Old Town of Kotor

Your host will meet you at Dubrovnik Airport and take you to the guesthouse in the Old Bar, where you will stay for the next two nights.

The transfer will take you along the Adriatic coast with views of the medieval towns of Herceg Novi, Budva, and Kotor.

You’ll make a stop in Kotor for a welcome lunch and a tour of the fortified town before completing your journey to Old Bar and getting settled in your accommodation for the night.

1-2 hours guided walking-tour

Saturday: Canyoning in Medjurecki Canyon

After breakfast at the guesthouse this morning, you’ll be taken to Medjurecki Canyon. Before the fun begins, you’ll be given your equipment and a short training session in safety and canyoning procedures.

You’ll then be let loose on one of the best canyons in the Balkans; you’ll follow the flow of water as you hike, abseil and slide down the waterfalls into the natural pools below.

Towards the end of the day, you’ll have the opportunity to visit the old town of Bar, where you can enjoy some free time on the beaches or taking a swim before you return to the guesthouse.

Sunday: Say Goodbye to Montenegro

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast on your last morning on Montenegro, before your transfer arrives to take you to Podgorica Airport for your forwarding journey home.

Accommodation

You will stay in a 3-star guesthouse, located in the Old part of Bar. The city centre and main beach is around 4km from the accommodation. The rooms or apartments will be on a twin (or more) sharing basis, with en-suite facilities, TV and Wi-Fi. The guesthouse has a restaurant on site which serves homemade local specialities, with plenty of seafood and vegetables.
