Day 1: Arrive and River Hike

Your trip begins at Belgrade airport where your local host will be waiting to meet you. From there, it’s an hour and a half transfer to the mountain town of Valjevo where the real adventure begins.

Your first day's hike is five kilometres along the river Gradac – one of the cleanest in the Balkans. The route travels up the river canyon, crisscrossing the river through lush green forests. If you like, take a swim in the cool clear waters.

The hike ends at the tranquil Celije Monastery, rebuilt numerous times since its 13th-century origins. After you have explored the site you will be transferred to your accommodation for the night in time for dinner.

Day 2: River Canyoning

After breakfast, it’s time to head out on your canyoning adventure. Your experienced guide will get you kitted up with a wetsuit, harness and helmet and then you will be ready to take on the Tribuca River canyon.

This little-known, remote canyon managed to remain undiscovered for many years. You’ll spend five hours adventuring down the canyon, abseiling down 25-metre waterfalls, jumping into deep pools, swimming and sliding down natural rock slides.

At the end of the canyon, your transport awaits with your dry clothes to change into. Take a moment to relax on the riverbank and enjoy your surroundings before heading back to the accommodation for a well-earned dinner.

Day 3: Departure

Enjoy one last breakfast with your fellow adventurers, recounting the last two days adventures. Then, it’s time to head to the airport whether your heading home or on to new adventures.

Note: This itinerary and the duration of the activities are subject to change due to group abilities and preferences, and weather conditions and forecasts.

Please Note

All our adventures take place in wild places. Things can go wrong in wild places. Your perfectly planned itinerary may change a bit (or a lot) if the weather turns, someone gets hurt, or a volcano erupts. Usually though, changes make it all the better.

You will be staying a guesthouse in the village of Key outside Valjevo. The guesthouse is built in the traditional Serbian style and is located just metres from the river.

The guesthouses feature en-suite rooms with a communal area. Accommodation is based on shared rooms, a single room supplement is available. Outside there is a garden area and pool where you can kick back and relax.

The Valjevo mountains, an hour and a half south of Belgrade, are Serbia’s up and coming adventure tourism destination. The 70-mile-long mountain chain stretches from Mt Bobija in the west to Rajac in the east.

Over thousands of years, mountain streams have carved canyons into the rock of the Valjevo mountains. Many of these canyons, the that of the Tribuca river, are only accessible by canyoning. The steep waterfalls, pools and rock slides make the perfect location for a canyoning adventure.

One of the most beautiful areas of the Valjevi region is the Gradac river canyon. The steep wooded hillsides, broken by crags and caves, frame the clear waters of the river. It is known as being one of the cleanest rivers in the Balkans and the water is clean enough to drink straight from the river,

The region is also an important area for Serbian history with an old Roman fortress and the monastery at Celije.
