Mostar is a city in southern Bosnia which straddles the Neretva River. It’s known for the iconic Stari Most (Old Bridge); considered one of the finest examples of Ottoman bridges in the Balkans. Its alleys are full of shops and market stalls, and the Old Bridge Museum explores the bridge’s long history.

Blagaj is a village-town in the south-eastern region of the Mostar basin. With a population of around just 2,500, Blagaj is probably best known for its 600-year-old Dervish monastery. Since the 15th century, the city was ruled by Herceg Stjepan Kosača with a residence in the tower above the town. However, the arrival of Ottoman Empire and the takeover of power and the tower marked a change in the town’s distinction.
