Key Information
Day 1
Welcome to Jordan

Your adventure begins in Amman, Jordan’s lively capital and one of the oldest continually inhabited cities in the world. After landing at the airport, you’ll be met and transferred to your first base: The House Boutique Suites, a stylish and centrally located hotel where you’ll spend your first two nights. With spacious rooms and a rooftop pool, it’s the perfect place to unwind after your journey. Later in the afternoon (usually around 6:00 PM), meet your guide and fellow travelers for a welcome drink with views across the city, as you chat about the days ahead. In the evening, head out on foot to explore Amman’s thriving street food scene. This is your chance to get a first real taste of Jordan, sampling freshly grilled kebabs, falafel, knafeh and more, while soaking up the atmosphere of downtown. If you arrive later in the evening, your guide will ensure you’re briefed separately and help you settle in – they’ll also share local tips so you can explore Amman’s culinary scene the following day.
Day 2
Citadels, cuisine, and mosaic legends

Driving
After breakfast, set out to explore Amman's historical heart. Begin at the Citadel, perched on one of the city's seven hills, where sweeping views frame Roman ruins and ancient temples. Then descend to the Roman Theater, still impressively intact, before strolling through the atmospheric souks and old markets, passing landmarks like the Al-Husseini Mosque. Leaving the capital behind, head south to the charming town of Madaba, known for its Christian heritage and world-famous mosaics. Here, you'll step into the kitchen at Hikayet Sitti, a beautiful community-run heritage house where local women lead you in a hands-on cooking class. Learn classic Jordanian recipes and share a freshly prepared meal together as part of this unforgettable experience. After lunch, take some time to explore Madaba's streets before driving to Mount Nebo, where Moses is said to have glimpsed the Promised Land. Soak in panoramic views across the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea, and even Jerusalem on a clear day. Return to Amman in the late afternoon, with the evening free to relax or dive deeper into the city's food scene at your own pace.
Day 3
Hike Dana Reserve, explore Little Petra and night of desert luxury

Hiking
Driving
After an early breakfast, you’ll leave Amman behind and head south towards the Dana Biosphere Reserve, where a striking desert landscape of cliffs, gorges, and sandstone formations awaits. Today you’ll hike the Shaq Al Reesh Trail – a circular route that begins in Al-Barrah and winds through a dramatic siq to the namesake canyon. Expect towering cliffs, shifting desert hues, and a tranquil atmosphere far from the crowds. Continue to Little Petra (Beidha), a Nabataean settlement carved into pale rock that once welcomed traders along ancient caravan routes. Explore its narrow passages, carved facades, and dining halls – a perfect preview of what’s to come. Tomorrow, you’ll enter Petra itself via the backdoor, making this stop a fitting introduction. Your base for the night is the Little Petra Luxury Camp, nestled in a quiet desert valley surrounded by spectacular sandstone formations. This stylish camp offers a unique blend of traditional Bedouin charm and modern comfort. Before dinner, sample a selection of Jordanian craft beers as the sun sets over the cliffs – a golden hour moment you won’t forget.
Day 4
Hike the backdoor to Petra

Hiking
After breakfast, set out on foot to the Little Petra Visitor Center, where a shuttle will take you to the start of the backdoor trail into Petra. This less-traveled route offers an unforgettable first approach to the ancient city, away from the main crowds. The trail begins with a gentle ascent, offering sweeping views over the Araba Mountains and as far as the Negev Desert on a clear day. Following an old Nabataean route, the path traces the edge of a rugged plateau along a narrow, naturally carved rock terrace. Eventually, you’ll reach a hidden saddle above the deep chasm of Wadi Siyyagh, where suddenly, carved into the cliff face, the magnificent Monastery (Ad Deir) comes into view. Take your time to explore this awe-inspiring site and, if you like, enjoy a break at the Bedouin cafe nearby. From there, descend via the ancient Nabataean steps into Petra’s archaeological core and enjoy lunch in a scenic restaurant surrounded by towering sandstone cliffs, just steps away from the ruins of the Rose City. Recharged, continue through Petra’s archaeological highlights – including the Royal Tombs, Street of Facades, and the Treasury – before exiting via the dramatic Siq into Wadi Musa. Tonight, you’ll stay at Petra Moon Hotel, located just steps from Petra’s main entrance. This comfortable 4-star hotel offers spacious rooms, a seasonal rooftop pool, and stunning views of the surrounding mountains – perfect for resting up after a big day of exploration.
Day 5
To Wadi Rum's desert magic

Driving
Hiking
Off-Road Driving
If you have the energy, rise early at 6:00 AM for an (optional) self-guided return visit to Petra’s Treasury, entering through the quiet Siq as the morning light illuminates its famous facade. After breakfast, check out and journey south to Wadi Rum, an otherworldly desert of red sand, soaring rock formations, and vast silence. Unlike most trips that stay just one night, you’ll spend two nights at Sun City Camp, giving you time to truly soak in the desert magic (trust us – once you’re here, you won’t want to leave!) Tucked beneath towering cliffs, the camp features luxury bubble domes with panoramic stargazing windows, en suite bathrooms, and warm Bedouin hospitality. After lunch and a short rest, set off on a scenic desert drive and two short hikes – first through the Um Ishreen Canyon, then into the dramatic Barrah Canyon, where cliffs, sand, and narrow gorges create a spectacular natural playground. Return to camp for a traditional Bedouin dinner under the stars, and your first night in this astonishing landscape.
Day 6
Desert peaks & views: hiking Jebel Al-Hash

Hiking
Off-Road Driving
After breakfast, you’ll hop into a 4x4 Jeep for a one-hour drive through the wild heart of Wadi Rum to reach the base of Jebel Al-Hash – a remote desert peak near the Saudi border. This is one of the most scenic spots in the region, offering big rewards with a surprisingly manageable summit hike. The circular route takes 3-4 hours, with gradual inclines, wide-open views, and a mix of rocky paths and some light scrambling. The pace is relaxed and the route is adaptable – your guide will tailor it to the group’s abilities, with easier options available. You don’t need to be an experienced hiker to enjoy this; just a sense of adventure and a decent level of fitness will see you through. At the top, you’ll be treated to 360-degree desert views that stretch for miles: one of the most rewarding vistas in all of Jordan. The descent winds gently through another beautiful rocky valley, where you'll dig into a delicious desert lunch. Back at Sun City Camp, take the afternoon to unwind as you wish, reading, napping, or soaking in the silence. As night falls, gather under the stars at camp. With no light pollution and clear desert skies, this is one of the best places in the world for stargazing, whether from your private bubble dome or by the fire with a cup of sweet Bedouin tea.
Day 7
Sail, snorkel, and swim in the Red Sea

Snorkelling
Boat Ride
After breakfast, head south to Aqaba, Jordan’s vibrant Red Sea city – a refreshing contrast to the desert landscapes of Wadi Rum and Petra. In just an hour, you’ll arrive at the marina and board a specialist diving and snorkeling boat for a leisurely cruise along the coast. Spend the day gliding over crystal-clear waters, with stops at some of the Red Sea’s most beautiful coral reefs. Jump in to snorkel among colorful marine life, spot tropical fish darting between vibrant corals, or simply float in the warm water while taking in views across four countries – Jordan, Israel, Egypt and Saudi Arabia. Between swims, stretch out on the sun deck and enjoy a freshly prepared lunch on board, with light salads and soft drinks served by the crew. After returning to shore in the afternoon, the rest of the day is yours to relax. Take a walk along the beachfront promenade, or unwind at your comfortable 4-star hotel which has an excellent range of facilities, including multiple swimming pools, a private beach, a spa and wellness center with a hot tub, and a fitness center.
Day 8
Float, unwind, and celebrate

Driving
Enjoy one final breakfast by the Red Sea before setting off on a scenic road trip to one of Jordan’s most iconic natural wonders – the Dead Sea. At 1,362ft below sea level, this is the lowest point on Earth, and a surreal place to end your journey. Check into a luxe resort for the afternoon and take time to float effortlessly in the mineral-rich, hypersaline waters, where swimming is virtually impossible and relaxation is unavoidable. Slather on some of the famous Dead Sea mud – renowned for its skin-soothing properties – and soak up the sun from a lounger or the poolside terrace. If you’re in the mood, you can also opt for a spa treatment before your drive back to Amman. By late afternoon, you’ll be back in the capital city for your final night. Come together with your group for a farewell dinner, raise a glass to desert hikes, ancient wonders, and unforgettable meals – and relive the highlights of your extraordinary week in Jordan before you say goodbye to your group and guide.
Day 9
""

After breakfast, your adventure wraps up. You’ll be transferred to Amman Airport in time for your flight home, whether you’re flying early or later in the day. If you have a later flight, you’re welcome to store your luggage at the hotel and enjoy a final wander through Amman’s bustling souks, pick up some last-minute spices, sweets, or souvenirs, and savor one last Jordanian bite before heading home. Ma’a as-salama – until next time.

Transfers
Arrival transfers from Queen Alia International Airport (Amman) to your hotel in Amman are included on Day 1 of the trip, no matter what time your flight lands (note that some overnight flights may technically arrive in the early hours of Day 2). Since a welcome briefing and guided street food tour are included at around 6:00 PM on Day 1, we recommend arriving by 4:00 PM on Day 1 to make the most of your first evening. However, if suitable flights aren’t available and you do arrive later, you can head straight to the hotel for a good night’s rest – your guide will provide a personal briefing to ensure you’re fully prepared for the next day’s adventures.
Departure transfers from your hotel to the airport in Amman are also included at any time on Day 9, aligned with your flight schedule.
Travel options
There are frequent flights to Amman from the UK, Europe, the US, and Canada, with a mix of direct and one-stop options depending on your departure city. From the UK, there are direct flights to Amman from London Heathrow with Royal Jordanian and British Airways, and from Manchester with Royal Jordanian (seasonal). From Europe, you’ll find direct connections from major hubs including Paris, Frankfurt, Rome, Madrid, and Vienna. From North America, there are direct flights from New York (JFK) and Chicago (O'Hare) with Royal Jordanian (seasonal). Most other major cities in the US and Canada are easily connected via one-stop routes through European hubs like London, Frankfurt, or Istanbul.
You’re free to choose any flight that arrives on Day 1 and departs on Day 9, or extend your stay before or after the tour if you wish. If your flight arrives in the early hours of Day 2 (just after midnight), your room will be ready and waiting for you that night. However, if you arrive in the early hours of Day 1, please note that hotel check-in is typically not available until mid-afternoon. In this case, we recommend booking an extra night of lodging to ensure your room is ready when you land. Your host can help arrange this, subject to availability. What is the food like?

Jordanian cuisine is a warm and generous reflection of the country’s deep-rooted Bedouin traditions and diverse cultural influences. Meals are centered around sharing, and often feature fragrant rice dishes, grilled meats, fresh herbs, and creamy dips like hummus and mtabbal. Staples such as mansaf (lamb cooked in yogurt sauce and served with rice) and magloobah (a spiced upside-down rice dish with vegetables and meat) showcase Jordan’s rich culinary heritage, often enhanced with cardamom, sumac, cinnamon, and cloves. Throughout this trip, you’ll enjoy a variety of food experiences – from a street food tour in Amman to a hands-on cooking class with local hosts in Madaba, and traditional Bedouin feasts under the stars in Wadi Rum. Breakfasts are typically buffet-style with both regional and international options, while picnic or buffet-style lunches offer fresh, hearty fare to keep you going between hikes and travel days. Two dinners aren’t included, and you’ll have the freedom to explore Jordan’s fantastic local food scene – whether in a buzzing downtown café in Amman or a locals' favorite in Petra – with your guide on hand to offer recommendations. Vegetarians, vegans, and most dietary requirements are well catered for; just contact your host upon booking.
What is the accommodation like?

Little Petra Bedouin Camp
Your third night is spent at Little Petra Bedouin Camp, nestled in a peaceful desert valley near the archaeological site of Little Petra. This isn’t your average camping experience – your luxury twin-share tent is thoughtfully designed for comfort and style, with air-conditioning, a private entrance, and a spacious terrace where you can soak up views of the sandstone mountains and surrounding gardens. Inside, you’ll find proper beds, quality linens, a private en suite bathroom with a walk-in shower, free toiletries, a hairdryer, and plush towels. Other features include a refrigerator, tea and coffee-making facilities, and a wardrobe. After sunset, you'll be treated to a traditional Bedouin dinner; before bed, you can choose to unwind in the cozy communal canvas tent, furnished with colorful rugs and cushions. Sip fresh Bedouin tea by the fire, share stories with your fellow travelers, and if you are lucky, enjoy some traditional live music. It’s a warm and authentic Bedouin welcome in a spectacular desert setting – without sacrificing comfort.

Located just steps from the entrance to Petra, the Petra Moon Hotel provides a comfortable stay after your full-day exploration of the ancient city. Standard twin-share rooms feature modern decor, air-conditioning, private bathrooms, and views of the surrounding mountains. Unwind on the rooftop terrace or seasonal pool (usually open from April to November), and take advantage of the hotel’s prime location for easy access to the Petra site and nearby restaurants.

Wadi Rum
You'll spend two unforgettable nights at Sun City Camp, set in the heart of Wadi Rum’s vast red landscape. You’ll stay in one of the camp’s iconic Martian Domes – futuristic, bubble-like tents that offer all the comforts of a hotel room, with front-row views of the desert wilderness. Each dome features twin beds (or a king-size bed, on request), air conditioning, a private entrance, and a panoramic terrace with direct desert views – perfect for sunrise coffees or stargazing in complete stillness. Inside, you’ll find a seating area, plush linens, and a private en suite bathroom equipped with a walk-in shower, bathrobe, slippers, and complimentary toiletries for a touch of luxury. After a day of desert hikes or 4x4 exploration, relax in the dome or gather around the communal fire with Bedouin tea. The camp also features a large dining tent serving hearty Jordanian meals, and on clear nights, the sky becomes a planetarium – ideal for stargazing right from your bed. This is Wadi Rum at its most immersive and indulgent; a truly unique way to experience one of the world’s most otherworldly landscapes.

Aqaba
After your desert adventures, settle into seaside comfort for a night, at the Luxotel Aqaba Beach Resort & Spa. Located on the Red Sea coast, this modern 4-star resort features direct beach access, two pools, a spa, and a relaxed restaurant with sea views. Standard twin-share rooms offer all the essentials – air-conditioning, en suite bathrooms, TV, and WiFi.
Upgrades
For solo travellers looking for their own space, a private room and tent can be booked for an extra charge, see Optional Extras for the price. Please request this at the time of booking (this is subject to availability).
This trip has been rated as Easy
This trip is designed for travelers who enjoy a balance of gentle adventure, cultural immersion, and relaxation, with the added comfort of premium lodging throughout. With a mix of exploration and downtime, the overall pace is relaxed; however, the trip includes a few light to moderate physical activities:
- The longest walk is in Petra, covering around 7 miles over uneven terrain, with approximately 1,300 stone steps (both up and down) spread throughout the day. Although the pace is gentle, a reasonable level of fitness is needed to manage the elevation and avoid fatigue.
- In Wadi Rum, there are three short guided hikes. While not lengthy, walking on soft sand and rocky terrain (including some light scrambling) adds effort and may be more tiring in the heat.
- Other activities are less physically demanding, but involve being on your feet for two to three hours during walking tours in Amman.
- You won't need any snorkeling experience, as full guidance is provided, but you must be able to swim. You are welcome to do as much or as little snorkeling as you like – the rest of the time you can simply chill on deck or on the beach.
This trip may not be suitable for those with knee or joint issues, due to the number of steps and sandy or uneven terrain. There are also a few exposed sections along viewpoints and trails – especially in Petra and Dana Reserve – so those with severe vertigo should take caution, although the guide will always be on hand to assist.
What if i need to skip an activity?
Some activities on this trip are optional, and your guide will do their best to offer alternatives or downtime if you choose to sit something out. For example, if you’d prefer to skip the short hike in Wadi Rum, you can often relax at the camp or meeting point, depending on the day’s logistics and location. However, certain locations – such as Petra – involve point-to-point hikes with no alternative transfers available. In these cases, it’s important that you’re confident in your ability to complete the hike, as participation will be necessary to stay with the group.
Your local guide will always be on hand to discuss options, adjust the pace, and support you in getting the most out of the experience in a way that suits your comfort level.
What will I need to carry?
You'll only need to carry a small daypack with personal items, snacks, and water during each day of activity. Your main luggage will be transported for you.
This trip runs from October to May, when Jordan’s weather is generally mild and pleasant – ideal for exploring the country’s highlights.
- In Amman, daytime temperatures typically range from 54–77°F, depending on the month. It can feel crisp in the early morning and evening, particularly between November and February, so layers are recommended.
- In Petra, expect daytime temperatures of 59–86°F, with cooler mornings and evenings due to the site’s elevation. In March and April, the climate is especially comfortable for walking and hiking, while October and November tend to be dry and sunny.
- In the desert at Wadi Rum, days are usually sunny and dry, ranging from 68–93°F, but nights can be significantly cooler, sometimes dropping to 41–50°F between December and February. A warm layer is essential for evenings under the stars.
- Around the Dead Sea and Aqaba on the Red Sea Coast, temperatures are milder year-round. Expect highs of 72–86°F during the season, with warmer water ideal for floating or boat trips, especially in spring and autumn.
Rain is rare but possible, particularly from late November to early March, usually falling in short bursts. It’s always a good idea to pack a lightweight waterproof just in case.
We’re still waiting to collect any reviews from other travellers on this trip. However, all our hosts go through an extensive vetting process to ensure that your adventure is awesome.

Tips
Tips are not included in the trip cost. These are entirely at your discretion, but there is an expectation to tip for good service. Your guide can help with advice; however, we suggest the below as a guideline:
- Guide: $5 per person, per day
- Driver: $3 per person, per day
- Local guides: $3+ per person, per guide
- Hotel porters: $2 per person
- Jeep drivers: $2 per person
Of course, you are free to tip more or less, and the amount should be reflective of your perception of service and quality – a tip is not compulsory and should only be given when you receive excellent service.
Travel insurance
Travel insurance is compulsory for all of our adventures, and you'll need to provide your policy details before departure. Your insurance should offer adequate coverage for overseas medical treatment, evacuation/repatriation, your baggage and gear, and the specific activities involved in your adventure. We also recommend ensuring your policy includes cancellation and curtailment coverage, in case you're unable to join your trip due to unforeseen circumstances such as illness.
Standard travel insurance may not cover all the activities included in your adventure, so it's essential to check the details carefully. There are adventure-specific providers that many travelers have used in the past, such as True Traveller (for those based in the UK or Europe), or Rise + Shield, both of which offer coverage for a wide range of adventurous activities.
Please make sure your chosen policy meets your individual needs and covers all aspects of your trip.
Visas
Most travelers need a visa to visit Jordan, but the process is simple and flexible. There are two main ways to get your visa:
-
Visa on arrival: many nationalities (including UK, US, EU, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand) can obtain a single-entry visa on arrival at Queen Alia International Airport in Amman, or at designated land borders. The fee is 40 JOD (approximately $56). However, lines can be long during busy periods.
-
E-visa (recommended, to skip the lines): to save time at the airport, you can apply for a visa online before traveling via the Jordan e-visa portal. Approval is usually quick, and you’ll be able to go straight to immigration on arrival.
Visa requirements often change, and you are responsible for obtaining any required visas for this trip. Please check with your nearest embassy or consulate for up-to-date advice, or contact the Jordan Tourism Board for updates specific to your nationality.
Personal expenses
You know your own spending habits best, so please budget an appropriate amount for things like optional meals and drinks, shopping, optional activities, and laundry.

We partner with the World Land Trust to ensure this trip achieves Net-Zero emissions. We also support their Buy an Acre program, helping local communities to buy and protect natural habitats in perpetuity.
What's the number?
It works out on average at 422kg of CO2 emissions per person, including all local transport, accommodation, food, activities, guides, staff and office operations.
The only thing it doesn’t include right now is flights and travel to the destination. We do make an overall estimate across all our customers separately, but as we don’t book flights, have customers from all corners of the world, and no way of reliably knowing their travel plans, we simply can’t include an individual number in the figure on display here. We’ve got a goal to fix that, so that when you book, there is a way to measure and mitigate the carbon emitted by your flight too.
But what does the number mean?
Yep, hard to picture eh? To give you an idea:
- Driving 1000 miles/1609km would be approximately 281kg of CO2 in an average car (or 140.5kg per person, if there were two of you in it).
- A return economy class flight between London and New York would be approximately 1619kg (1.66 tonnes) per person.
- 10 trees in a temperate forest are estimated to remove approximately 250kg of CO2 from the air in a period of 5-10 years.
What are we doing about it?
Our trips are relatively low-carbon by design, and we're working with all our hosts to develop long term carbon reduction plans. We partner with the World Land Trust to ensure this trip achieves Net-Zero emissions. We also support their Buy an Acre programme, helping local communities to buy and protect natural habitats in perpetuity, ensuring the protection of the reserve and its wildlife.
Want to know more?
Amazingly, no international travel company has ever publicly published their carbon measurements before, as far as we know. We believe that must change, quickly. So we’re openly sharing the method we used in the hope that other companies will be able to more easily follow suit and build on what we've done so far. You'll find it all here.
We recommend booking more than 31 days in advance to guarantee your spot on the trip. If requesting to book less than 31 in advance, the host will need to check accommodation availability before accepting your booking (please do not book flights until your booking has been confirmed by the host). Due to high demand in Jordan, if requesting a spot within two weeks of departure, chances are that there won't be any availability – so the sooner you can make plans, the better.
Ramadan will take place from around Tuesday, February 17th to Wednesday, March 18th in 2026, with exact dates to be confirmed. The national holiday of Eid ul-Fitr will follow for 2-3 days. Ramadan is an Islamic festival where the religious do not eat or drink during daylight hours. While this is a really interesting time to travel, you can expect some business hours will be shortened, alcohol is not permitted during daylight hours, and some restaurants will be closed during this festival period. Activities for local people tend to be limited during the day, and the nights are very active in cities, with lots of different foods being sold and consumed. However, in hotel restaurants and tourist areas, food and drink are served as normal and Ramadan will not affect the inclusions on your trip. Liquor stores are likely to be closed for the month, but in tourist enclaves, bars stay open (some may not allow alcohol outdoors – but inside is generally okay).

Tourists are not allowed to bring drones, binoculars, or some large telephoto camera lenses into Jordan. These will be confiscated at the airport and returned on departure, so please do not risk bringing these on your trip. Even if these are missed by airport security, your guide cannot allow them to be used, as this can have legal consequences if you are caught.
This trip operates in areas where daytime temperatures can reach extreme highs, where limited shade and high humidity can also be a factor. These conditions can affect physical performance and increase the risk of dehydration or heat-related illness. Your guide will adjust the pace and monitor the group closely, but hydration, proper clothing, and sun protection are essential.
Before traveling, consider your ability to be active in high temperatures and consult a medical professional if you have concerns, especially if you have any cardiovascular or heat-sensitive conditions. Arriving a day or two prior to the trip may help you adjust gradually to the heat.

If you are based in the United States, you can also check the latest travel advisories from the U.S. Department of State.
For customers joining from other international locations, we recommend checking the official travel advice issued by your country of residence, as guidance may vary.
We recommend checking out the country-specific information and also talking to a travel nurse.
We automatically convert prices from the local currency that a host receives to your chosen currency. We update our exchange rates daily, so prices displayed on the site are subject to currency fluctuations, which is why you may see them change over time.
If you wish to change the currency you pay in, head to the bottom of the page.
All of our group adventures are specially designed for adults to enjoy as we want these adventures to bring together outdoorsy people who are truly like-minded. You must be over 18 to join one of our trips.
You're always in good company on one of our adventures.
Our trips typically consist of a mix of solo travelers and small groups of 2 or 3 friends, with most in their 30s-50s.
Our sociable adventures are solo-friendly by design and naturally attract outdoorsy people with a shared mindset; a love for adventure, a desire to push themselves, and meet awesome, like-minded people along the way.
It’s this camaraderie that has so often turned a great adventure into a life-changing one.
Don't just take our word for it:
- 95% of people rate the group dynamics on our trips 5/5
- 90% of people recommend joining a trip to make new friends
- 75% of people have met people on our trips that they would now consider friends
