Key Information
Day 1
Welcome to Split!

Touch down at Split Airport, then make your way to the city center (see 'Getting There' for info on the shuttle service), where you'll meet your host for a warm welcome and quick briefing before boarding your ferry to the island of Solta (if you arrive early, you can drop off your luggage at your host's office and explore the charming Old Town while you wait for the rest of the group to arrive). Enjoy the one-hour ferry ride to this enchanting island, the base for your adventure. Your home for the next six nights is a cozy private guesthouse in the charming village of Rogac, situated just 394 feet from the sea. Check in, get comfortable and enjoy a delicious welcome dinner with your group, while your guide tells you all about the epic adventure ahead.
Day 2
Hike into the heart of Solta

Hiking
This morning you'll head out to explore the heart of beautiful Solta on foot, hiking between charming inland villages and immersing yourself in the rich culture, history and traditions of the island. The trail will lead you from the stunning coastline to the hamlets of Grohote, Srednje Selo and Donje Selo, replete with authentic stone architecture, winding alleys and colorful gardens. Following your hike you'll head to a local wine producer to savor some of the island's best wines during a tasting session. Returning to Rogac in the afternoon, you can enjoy a few hours at leisure – hit the beach, grab drinks or have dinner by the sea as you wait for the sun to set. That's what island life is all about!
Day 3
Kayak Maslinica's coves and islets
Kayaking
Today you'll explore Solta's turquoise waters by kayak, setting off from the enchanting coastal village of Maslinica – a hidden gem steeped in tradition. After a safety briefing, leave the island's shores and paddle towards the archipelago of tiny islets which dot the western tip of the island. Navigate crystal-clear waters and stop for a swim in Sipova Bay – renowned as the island's most beautiful beach. Continue kayaking along the southern shore, enjoying the stunning views of hidden coves and dazzling cliffs all the way to Senjska Bay. After a final swim, hike up to the road where you'll hop into a vehicle and head back to your comfortable base in Rogac for the night.
Day 4
Hike and bike across the island

Hiking
Cycling
This morning you'll set off hiking in the eastern tip of the island, starting from the charming village of Gornje Selo, a place that seems frozen in time. As you wander through its winding streets and admire the traditional stone architecture, you'll experience the authentic charm and tranquility that makes this island so special. Solta is also renowned for producing some of the finest olive oil in the country, and this morning you'll have the chance to visit a local olive oil producer, where you can taste and learn about the secrets behind this liquid gold. Next, hike through the serene beauty of olive groves, vineyards, fig trees and lush pine forests to reach the island's highest point, Vela Straz, for stunning panoramic views of the surrounding Dalmatian islands and distant mountains. Descend towards the coastal village of Stomorska and its lively harbor, soaking in the laid-back vibe as you watch local fishermen. Join your guide for an afternoon bike ride across the island from Stomorska to Maslinica, offering countless idyllic Mediterranean views along the way.
Day 5
Kayak Solta's southern coast

Kayaking
Swimming
The southern shore of Solta is one of the most stunning and dramatic coastlines in the region, and a well-kept secret given the lack of roads on this side of the island. When it comes to exploring this hidden paradise of secluded bays, untouched pebble beaches, awe-inspiring cliffs and intriguing stone formations, sea kayaking is undoubtedly the ideal way to go. Spend the day paddling to countless hidden coves, stopping for swims and snorkeling along the way – and be one of the lucky few to have the privilege of exploring in this way.
Day 6
SUP and shipwreck snorkeling

Stand Up Paddleboarding
Snorkelling
On your final day of island adventure, you'll explore the northern shores of Solta, this time gliding over the crystal-clear waters on a paddleboard (SUP). Start off from Rogac Bay, paddling eastward to the nearby bay of Necujam, which is dotted with quiet coves. Make a stop at Piskera, an intriguing spot where the fascinating ruins of a Roman maritime villa and its fishpond lie beneath the glistening sea. It's believed to have been owned by Emperor Diocletian (247-316 AD), one of the most significant rulers in the history of the Roman Empire. Next, jump into the water for some unforgettable snorkeling around the shipwreck of Kontesa, resting just a few feet below the surface. Tonight you'll head out with your group to a charming local taverna – a fantastic opportunity to indulge in the traditional culinary delights of Solta one final time, before bidding farewell to your new favorite island.
Day 7
Goodbye Croatia!

Check out and leave the island after breakfast, traveling back to Split by ferry where you're expected to arrive around 11:00 AM. If you are leaving today, we recommend reserving a flight departing no earlier than 2:00 PM to allow ample time to reach the airport. Alternatively, your host will have plenty of recommendations on how to make the most of your time in the city, should you wish to extend your Croatian adventure further.

What is the food like?

The Dalmatian Islands boast an abundance of fresh seafood, fish, vegetables, and fruit, and Solta is no exception. The islanders are proud of their rich culinary traditions, and during the course of the trip, you'll have the chance to savor some delicious dishes in many local spots recommended by your host. Specialties include grilled fish or scampi, black risotto (with squid ink), octopus with potatoes baked on an open fire, and many other dishes – expertly seasoned with local olive oil, garlic, and herbs (such as rosemary and sage).
On the nights where evening meals are not included, you can opt to dine with a sea view at the famous Pasarela restaurant in Rogac, just a short walk away from your apartments. Lunches are included and usually consist of a picnic arranged by your guide. Solta is especially known for its traditions of winemaking as well as honey and olive oil production, so you'll have some tasting experiences included too during your stay.
Vegetarians, vegans, and other dietary requirements and allergies can be catered for – please just request this on your passenger info form.
What is the accommodation like?

Villa Porto
Your base for the trip is Villa Porto, a charming private guesthouse located in the village of Rogac on Solta Island. The property (which is managed by your host) features three apartments, each with two twin-share bedrooms, a balcony with ocean views, air-conditioning, a fully equipped kitchen with a refrigerator and a stovetop, a living area and a bathroom (shared between the two bedrooms/ up to four people). There is a large outdoor patio and dining area for your group's gatherings. The beach, as well as a couple of inviting seaside tavernas, are only a ten-minute walk from the property.
Upgrades
Due to the limited size of the property, guaranteed pre-booked single rooms are not available on this trip.
This trip has been rated as Moderate
All of the activities on this trip can be done without any previous experience – you'll have expert guides to show you the ropes and help you navigate the kayaking. Although each day is not overly strenuous, you'll be fairly active for a few hours, so the trip is best enjoyed if you have a decent level of fitness and agility, enjoy the outdoors and are comfortable in the water.
The hikes are along relatively gentle paved and unpaved trails, with some occasional steep sections. Plenty of stops will be made to enjoy the views and the scenic villages along the way.
Sea kayaking will involve two days where you'll be paddling for approximately four hours, along the stunning coastline with plenty of opportunities for (optional) swimming and snorkeling breaks along the way. This trip is totally suitable for beginner or intermediate-level sea kayakers; however, a good level of fitness will help you enjoy your time on the water to the full. Sea kayaking will be in twin kayaks, however, single kayaks may be available at additional charge for experienced and confident sea kayakers - please ask your host for further details.
The 12-mile bike ride across the island from Stomorska to Maslinica is on paved roads which are undulating throughout, with occasional steep sections. Should you prefer to opt out of the biking (or any of the other activities), you are of course free to do so and you can make your day as leisurely or active as you want it to be.
What will I need to carry?
You'll need to have a larger bag suitable for all your belongings which will be transported for you, and then a small backpack to carry personal items during each day of the activities.
The climate in Solta is mild for most of the year. It gets very hot during the summer months of July to September with temperatures reaching 95°F: for this reason, the trip runs from April to June, and late September to October, when temperatures are milder (ranging between 63°F and 77°F). Rain is possible at any time of year, so come prepared for this possibility. The average water temperature is about 63°F in April and 64-75°F in May, June, September and October, making the latter part of the season a more favorable time of year if you are into snorkeling and swimming.
Great adventure week !
A super fun, super active week of kayaking, SUP, hiking, cycling, swimming, through amazing water an d terrain and lots and lots of laughs. A great group with terrific guiding by Dejan & Ivana. The guides moved around the itinerary to make the most of conditions. Don’t forget your Teva’s/ water shoes. Don’t miss it!

Island Solta
Phenomenal! Dejan & Ivana went above & beyond to ensure we all fell in love with this stunning island. Their love of the outdoors, history, storytelling, Croatian culture & Island Solta made a great week of adventure fantastic. They catered for all levels extremely well. I don’t think anyone in the group wanted to leave the island. I am not someone to book group travel, however, I wouldn’t hesitate to do another trip with them. Thankyou so so much for being passionate about what you do. And praise the lord for Croatian olive oil!

Hidden Adriatic Gem - not to be missed
A brilliant week exploring the beautiful island of Šolta and all it has to offer. From morning swims in the crystal waters, paddling to secluded bays, peddling through olive groves to hiking to the peak of the island this trip delivered it all, in bucket loads. Dejan & Ivana were the best hosts showing us every corner of the Island. Lifelong friendships and memories made - highly recommend this trip!
Incredible Solta
This was a truly wonderful week spent in Croatia thanks to the exceptionally talented, knowledgeable, kind and generous Dejan and Ivana.
From the outset Dejan’s priority was making sure the group has the best possible experience and he absolutely delivered. He shared so much history with the group and shared the love of his country and the world.
Every activity was well thought through with plenty of time to explore the beauty of Solta as we moved through the days.
The accommodation was fantastic, the meals were amazing. And the people in the group were equally as curious of the world as each other.
If anyone is looking for an adventure in Croatia that covers lots of activity you must do this one. You won’t regret it.

Amazing Holiday
Had an absolutely amazing time. Would totally recommend this trip if you wanted an adventure filled holiday in a beautiful place. The guides (Djanc and Ivana) were absolutely amazing hosts with so much knowledge about the island and Croatia. Activities were also super fun and varied, allowing a bit of everything to be able to see the whole island. Would 100% recommend this trip.
An amazing adventure made magical by Dejan and Ivana
This holiday was truly awesome. From the moment we arrived, Dejan and Ivana set the tone with a warm welcome and a raki tasting, a traditional Croatian spirit, that immediately brought the group together. Their hospitality was exceptional throughout.
The breakfasts and lunches were fresh and energising and plentiful, but the real highlight was Dejan’s cooking in the evenings. The food was simple, but delicious and full of flavour, made using local produce and vegetables from his own garden. Dejan is a great cook and his passion came through in the traditional recipes he prepared. He is also incredibly knowledgeable about wine, and I really enjoyed our conversations as well as the local wines he shared with us.
The itinerary struck a great balance between activity and relaxation. I particularly enjoyed the kayaking and the wine tasting, but every activity was well organised and ran smoothly. The island itself was peaceful and calming, offering a perfect place to rest and recharge after a full day.
We had an amazing group, and Dejan and Ivana made a real effort to get to know everyone. Their warmth, energy and clear passion for the island and the experience were infectious. Their unreserved enthusiasm and personal touch created something that felt unique and unforgettable.
I left feeling refreshed, inspired, and already thinking about when I might return. Would highly recommend!

Huge thanks to Dejan, Ivana, and our fellow adventurers for such an amazing and joyful experience. . . We’ll be talking about this one for a long time!
The video only just scratches the surface! ❤️

We arrived as strangers. We left as friends.
An incredibly diverse group of people met on a beautiful but little known island, guided and supported by knowledgeable and ever-smiling guides Dejan and Ivana.
What a week! Multi-sport adventures, breathtaking sceneries, cultural and culinary immersions, and new friendships.

Sun‑Kissed Šolta
Each day was packed with adventures and mouth‑watering meals. We stayed in a charming home owned by our guide, Dejan, and even had the pleasure of meeting some of his family. Just 200 metres away lay a picture‑perfect swimming spot. When I mentioned my fear of ants, Dejan immediately stocked up on repellent—just one example of the thoughtfulness he and Ivana showed throughout our stay. Courteous, considerate, and wonderfully knowledgeable, they were the perfect hosts.

Chillaxing Adventure!
With a perfect balance of activities enabling us to really explore this beautiful Island married with plenty of opportunity to sit back and chill this is one not to miss ! Our hosts Dejan & Ivana couldn't have been any more fabulous . . they served great food-were100% supportive throughout and boy did we have a laugh!! If you're on the fence about this trip -my advice. . . JUMP!

Amazing week
So many good things about this trip, the idylic island, the great mix of activities, the company. But what made it above expectations were our amazing hosts, Dejan and Ivana. They welcomed us in with great company, they provided us amazing food all week, they took their time to chat to and get to know everyone and entertained us with great stories. Their knowledge and passion for their country and life in general all contributed to a fantastic week!!

Solta Adventure
A fantastic way to experience and discover the island of Solta. Great adventures with amazing food with fantastic hosts. Dejan and Ivana really made the trip special!

Brilliant
Dejan, Anna and Boris were fantastic everything was good accept for the paddle boarding. The house and scenery were beautiful.

Probably the best holiday I've had!
Great adventures! Exploring Solta by kayak and on foot or bicycle is the best way to experience this beautiful and peaceful island. Great hosts! Dejan, his family and Boris the tour guide gave us a 5 star service, especially the food and wine which were amazing and the apartments were comfortable and spacious. Dejan's and Boris' knowledge and passion for their country was infectious. Great scenery! See photos, this is a beautiful island and a gem that needs to be seen. Great company! We had a great group of like-minded people which added to the experience.

Amazing island adventure
Had an amazing time with Dejan exploring the island of Šolta. The two days of sea kayaking were incredible, with the other days consisting of hiking, biking, and stand up paddleboard, with lots of chances to go for a swim with the other travellers as well, which were great ways to see and learn about the different areas of the island. Dejan was great at picking the best activity for to the changing weather, ensuring we could do everything that was planned, with lots of opportunity for snacks as well.
Multi sports plus history, local
Multi sports plus history, local culture and food and massively flexible - don't worry if you aren't keen on one part of the itinerary. Lovely people, incredibly helpful and tolerant! The week lasted a long time in a very good way.
Fantastic week in Šolta
I recently spent an incredible week in Šolta. Dejan, Ivana, and Boris's warmth, enthusiasm, and attention to detail made the trip special. What made this experience so unique was the perfect balance of activity and relaxation. Solta is a peaceful escape, but there's plenty to do, from kayaking and hiking to snorkelling. Dejan did a fantastic job adapting the itinerary around the weather, making sure we got the best out of each day. The homemade Croatian dinners were an absolute highlight! It was also wonderful to explore the island with such a nice group. I can’t recommend this trip enough for anyone looking to experience the quieter, more authentic side of Croatia.

Brilliant multi-activity trip in quiet, idyllic island location.
I'm normally an independent, solo travel person and this was my first package deal in many years. I wasn't sure what to expect but enjoyed every moment from the great company of my fellow travelers, the enthusiasm, knowledge and professionalism of the crew, amazing location, fabulous activities and fantastic food.

Wonderful week
So glad I booked this trip!
Dejan, Ivana and Boris were excellent guides and hosts - attentive, friendly, warm and great sense of humour. They shared their knowledge and passion of the history and culture (and food!) of Croatia, at the same time as guiding us safely through all the fun activities.
This is a wonderful opportunity to experience Croatian life with local guides, away from the touristy destinations. Solta is quiet and relaxing but still lots of hiking, kayaking etc to keep you active and entertained.

Amazing trip - fab hosting & great group
From the moment we were met by Dejan amd Ivana at the tour offices in Split to the end of the trip, they could not have been more friendly and accommodating. From tweaking the schedule to fit around the best weather to finding alternatives for me when I didn’t want to cycle. Dejan opened his house to us all - cooking up some amazing dinners. The accommodation exceeded my expectation. Also a shout out to Boris who did an incredible job at the logistics, and this trip needs alot! Thank you all, as well as to the other great people in the group - a week i wont forget.

A wonderful week of exploring Šolta
Thank you to Dejan, Ivana and Boris for an excellent time. Dejan puts in so much effort to get all the activities done around the weather forecast, this means the itinerary is somewhat flexible but it always worked out. All the experiences felt unique, safe and interesting, the kayaking and snorkelling were particular highlights for me.
Thanks again to Dejan and team for your hard work, I’d happily tour with you guys again next time I’m in Croatia.

fabulous holiday
great holiday with amazing guides and lovely group- really good to understand the history of the island and wider croatia and eat and drink our way happily through it’s products and meet a few of the producers too. Dejan was incredibly adaptable to both the weather and the groups interests and skills (fortunately he liked buying ice creams regularly too..)
Fantastic trip
This was such a lovely trip on a beautiful island which we explored throughout the week. It was well organised and activities juggled around the weather, when needed, to make sure we got the most out of everything. Huge thanks must go to Dejan, his family and Boris for making us feel so welcome and for sharing their passion for the outdoors and knowledge of Šolta.

Uno, Kayaks, and Sunsets: Discovering Solta's Hidden Charms
I recently participated in the "Hike, Kayak and Snorkel a Hidden Croatian Island" trip to Šolta, Croatia, and it was exceptional.
The accommodations were fantastic, offering scenic bay views from the balcony—perfect for enjoying sunrise or sunset with a cup of coffee.
Our guide, Dejan, and his family made breakfasts and dinners memorable, adding a personal touch to the experience.
James, a professional kayak marathon athlete from Australia, joined us, allowing for the option of single kayaks, which was a highlight.
The activities were well-organized and immersive. We hiked through picturesque villages and olive groves, kayaked along stunning coastlines with hidden coves, cycled across the island soaking in Mediterranean views, and snorkeled around a shipwreck and ancient Roman ruins.
The group was diverse, ranging from 30 to 60 years old, and we often ended our days playing Uno on the terrace while enjoying local spirits.
I highly recommend this trip to anyone seeking an authentic and active Croatian island adventure.
A Hidden Paradise
Had a fantastic week exploring the small island of Solta. Sea kayaking, hiking and biking meant we explored the whole island with our guide giving us fascinating insights into the history and stories of the Island. The accomodation and food were great and we were always well looked after by Dejan and his family. The small group size of like minded people really made for a great time.

Real Croatian Adventure
Me and my partner had an amazing trip to the island of Solta, thanks to Dejan and his family for welcoming us all into his life! They were so accommodating and told gripping stories and insights into the local way of life. This, paired with the group size not being too big, gave us such a real intimate feeling of living the whole experience and being apart of it rather than just witnessing it. We always ate and drank well- home made food including tasty grilled fresh fish and traditional Peka (which Dejan showed us how it is made!) we explored the island thoroughly and got all activities done with quality equipment and consideration of our safety. Despite some bad weather, it still all felt relaxing and chilled thanks to Dejan’s planning and flexibility with the schedule. To top it off we had a great little group of amazing people there with us that enriched the whole experience even further. I will be recommending this experience to anyone wanting to visit Croatia!
A Wonderful and Lovingly Curated Trip
I arrived in Split having done very little research on what I was about to experience and soon learned that this was going to be much more than an adventure holiday. Dejan and his family welcomed us into their home, cooked delicious local dishes for us and shared not only their stories of the past with us but their hopes for the future too.
Despite some challenges with the weather, Dejan managed to orchestrate the activities very well and importantly, pushed us all to challenge ourselves. He was confident in our skills and abilities which in turn, made us feel confident too.
I won’t go in to the details of what is included in this trip, as I believe that it should all be experienced firsthand, but I will say that if you are looking for the perfect balance of culture and adrenaline fuelled activity, this is the trip for you.
I would like to thank Dejan, Boris and the family for making this a beautiful memorable journey. I hope to one day return to Šolta to see you all again.
Flexible and homely
We were welcomed into the guides home, feed watered and made to feel part of the family. The guide had so much passion for the island and knowledge about its history. As well as being good at instructing all activities. He’s flexibility allowed in a difficult week all activities to be completed. A beautiful island, great mix of activities and fun group of people. Already thinking of what the next holiday could be!
Solta magic
We had a fab week -really enjoyed the walking, kayaking, swimming, snorkeling and cycling, as well as the company of our fellow holidayers. Dejan and his family were welcoming, kind, and thoughtful hosts. They do mean BBQs -swordfish and tuna, and Peka, and we ate very well all week. Dejan clearly thinks about safety when organising the trips - we had interesting weather to contend with. He was also great to listen to when talking about the history of the island.

We partner with the World Land Trust to ensure this trip achieves Net-Zero emissions. We also support their Buy an Acre program, helping local communities to buy and protect natural habitats in perpetuity.
What's the number?
It works out on average at 91kg of CO2 emissions per person, including all local transport, accommodation, food, activities, guides, staff and office operations.
The only thing it doesn’t include right now is flights and travel to the destination. We do make an overall estimate across all our customers separately, but as we don’t book flights, have customers from all corners of the world, and no way of reliably knowing their travel plans, we simply can’t include an individual number in the figure on display here. We’ve got a goal to fix that, so that when you book, there is a way to measure and mitigate the carbon emitted by your flight too.
But what does the number mean?
Yep, hard to picture eh? To give you an idea:
- Driving 1000 miles/1609km would be approximately 281kg of CO2 in an average car (or 140.5kg per person, if there were two of you in it).
- A return economy class flight between London and New York would be approximately 1619kg (1.66 tonnes) per person.
- 10 trees in a temperate forest are estimated to remove approximately 250kg of CO2 from the air in a period of 5-10 years.
What are we doing about it?
Our trips are relatively low-carbon by design, and we're working with all our hosts to develop long term carbon reduction plans. We partner with the World Land Trust to ensure this trip achieves Net-Zero emissions. We also support their Buy an Acre programme, helping local communities to buy and protect natural habitats in perpetuity, ensuring the protection of the reserve and its wildlife.
Want to know more?
Amazingly, no international travel company has ever publicly published their carbon measurements before, as far as we know. We believe that must change, quickly. So we’re openly sharing the method we used in the hope that other companies will be able to more easily follow suit and build on what we've done so far. You'll find it all here.

She loves the challenge of finding the best local adventure hosts around the world, collaborating on adventures that offer genuine immersion, pushing beyond the beaten path and working on exclusive itineraries that challenge your comfort zone.
What makes her tick? Enabling people to live adventure-rich lives while positively impacting and empowering local communities around the world, generating sustainable opportunities for both the host, guides, community, and the environment.
Many places in Split and Solta don't accept cards, so bring some cash with you or use an ATM to withdraw money for anything you might want to buy.
The tap water on Solta Island is safe to drink. Please bring your own reusable water bottle to fill up at the hotels, public fountains, and at restaurants to avoid buying single-use plastic bottles.
The weather on the island of Solta is usually pretty mild throughout the year, although adverse wind, sea, or rainy conditions can be unpredictable with some disruptions possible at any time of the year. The best you can do is to be prepared for anything and come equipped with layers of clothing, sunscreen, and waterproofs. Your host will be monitoring the forecasts during the course of the trip and will suggest alternative, safer kayaking routes or will swap around the order of the activities in the event that sea conditions are not favorable.
If your arrival flight into Split is delayed, there are other evening ferries to Solta – the last one usually departs at 8:30 PM. Your host will provide assistance should you need to travel independently to the island due to a late incoming flight.
Tandem sea kayaks are used on this trip. They have a covered deck and are generally longer, faster, and sit lower in the water than touring or sit-on-top kayaks. There's a spray skirt that you'll secure yourself (full guidance will be provided by your expert kayak guides). You'll also learn how to steer using foot pedals to control the rudder. As these are double kayaks, you will be paddling in pairs.
This trip operates in areas where daytime temperatures can reach extreme highs, where limited shade and high humidity can also be a factor. These conditions can affect physical performance and increase the risk of dehydration or heat-related illness. Your guide will adjust the pace and monitor the group closely, but hydration, proper clothing, and sun protection are essential.
Before traveling, consider your ability to be active in high temperatures and consult a medical professional if you have concerns –especially if you have any cardiovascular or heat-sensitive conditions. Arriving a day or two prior to the trip may help you adjust gradually to the heat.

Much Better Adventures refer to the UK Government’s official travel advice when designing trips and monitoring trip operations. We recommend that all customers review the practical information available on the UK Government’s FCDO website, where you can find up-to-date advice by searching for your destination(s).
If you are based in the United States, you can also check the latest travel advisories from the U.S. Department of State.
For customers joining from other international locations, we recommend checking the official travel advice issued by your country of residence, as guidance may vary.
We recommend checking out the country-specific information and also talking to a travel nurse.
We automatically convert prices from the local currency that a host receives to your chosen currency. We update our exchange rates daily, so prices displayed on the site are subject to currency fluctuations, which is why you may see them change over time.
