What is the food like?

Food in the Prosecco Hils.

The food and wine will undoubtedly be a highlight of this journey through the Prosecco Hills. Over the course of the week, you’ll enjoy a carefully curated selection of gourmet meals and wine experiences that reflect the region’s rich culinary traditions, combining familiar favorites with lesser-known local specialties. Mealtimes are unhurried and sociable, offering the chance to slow down, learn about local customs and enjoy good company in beautiful surroundings. Your lunches are included: you'll enjoy three leisurely light meals paired with guided wine tastings at hand-picked wineries, where producers introduce their vineyards and traditional production methods before serving generous platters of local cheeses and cured meats, seasonal vegetables and cicchetti. Your lunch on Day 4 will be taken in a traditional wine tavern in the charming town of Asolo, known for its relaxed atmosphere and honest, regional cooking. You’ll also enjoy two evening meals at carefully selected local restaurants, showcasing refined interpretations of Veneto cuisine – expect dishes such as handmade pasta, slow-cooked meats, seasonal vegetables and delicate desserts like tiramisu. This includes a special farewell dinner at a renowned restaurant in the area to round off the week. On the remaining three evenings, your guide will recommend excellent nearby restaurants to suit the group’s preferences.

Vegetarians, vegans and other dietary requirements or allergies can be catered for – please note these on your passenger information form.

What is the accommodation like?

Hotel Villa Soligo.
Standout Stay: historic elegance in the Prosecco Hills

Your base for five nights in the Prosecco Hills is Hotel Villa Soligo, a refined 4-star hotel set in a beautifully restored Palladian villa. Dating back to the 18th century, the villa was built in 1782 by Count Brandolini d’Adda as a summer residence and hunting lodge and over the years, it has played a role in Italian history – welcoming notable guests including Marcello Mastroianni, Alberto Sordi and Sofia Loren. A full renovation of this small hotel in 2020 has brought together the centuries-old architecture with contemporary comfort and understated luxury. Set among the rolling vineyards of Farra di Soligo, the hotel offers a peaceful retreat in the heart of the UNESCO-listed Prosecco Hills. Due to the villa’s historic character, rooms vary in size, layout and configuration, but all are finished to a very high standard with modern amenities. Each has a private bathroom, air conditioning, minibar, safe, TV and free WiFi. You can also unwind in the outdoor pool (seasonal; typically open from mid-May to late September, weather permitting), relax in the gardens or treat yourself in the wellness area – complete with a sauna, Turkish bath and relaxation space (available for an additional fee; see FAQs). The hotel's on-site restaurant serves generous breakfasts and refined regional cuisine, rounding off a stay that’s both comfortable and indulgent.

Upgrades

For solo travellers looking for their own space, a private room can be guaranteed for an extra charge – see Optional Extras for the price. Please request this at the time of booking (this is subject to availability).

Travel to and from the trip

Our trips do not include flights, trains, or other travel to the start point and back from the end point.

Meals

Three dinners are not included in the cost of this trip. This is to allow you a wider choice of meals, and so that you can explore local restaurants recommended by your guide. We suggest that you budget about €100-110 in total to cover these meals (excluding drinks).

Spa access

  • Access to the spa costs €30 per person (or €50 per couple) and includes exclusive entry in 45-minute slots; access to the pool, instead, is included in the rate.

Tips

Tips are not included in the trip cost. These are entirely at your discretion but there is an expectation to tip for good service. We suggest the below as a guideline:

  • €25 per person for the guide
  • €10 per person for the driver

Of course, you are free to tip more or less, and the amount should be reflective of your perception of service and quality – a tip is not compulsory and should only be given when you receive excellent service.

Personal expenses

You know your own spending habits best, so please budget an appropriate amount for things like optional meals and drinks, shopping, optional activities, and laundry.

Travel insurance

Travel insurance is compulsory for all of our adventures, and you'll need to provide your policy details before departure. Your insurance should offer adequate coverage for overseas medical treatment, evacuation/repatriation, your baggage and gear, and the specific activities involved in your adventure. We also recommend ensuring your policy includes cancellation and curtailment coverage, in case you're unable to join your trip due to unforeseen circumstances such as illness.

Standard travel insurance may not cover all the activities included in your adventure, so it's essential to check the details carefully. There are adventure-specific providers that many travelers have used in the past, such as True Traveller (for those based in the UK or Europe), or Rise + Shield, both of which offer coverage for a wide range of adventurous activities.

Please make sure your chosen policy meets your individual needs and covers all aspects of your trip.

Visas

Visa requirements often change, and you are responsible for obtaining any required visas for this trip. Please check with your nearest embassy or consulate for up-to-date advice.

Your first e-biking experience kicks off at Fiorotto Winery, a boutique family-run estate tucked among its own vineyards and working farm. After a briefing with your cycling guide, you’ll take a short spin through the grounds before heading into the quiet landscapes of Montello Hill – one of the most bike-friendly areas in Italy. This compact region is crisscrossed by a dense network of routes that weave through countryside, foothills, and the Piave Valley. You’ll follow the gentle Periplo (orbital road) around the perimeter and the Dorsale (ridge road) along the crest, linked by numbered trails known as Prese. It’s a unique grid of vineyard lanes, forest tracks, and panoramic stretches – perfect for a smooth, yet varied ride. Stops along the way include the Abbazia di Sant’Eustachio, a centuries-old abbey nestled beneath the trees, and the Ossario della Prima Guerra Mondiale, a WWI memorial. Back at the winery, you’ll tuck into a light lunch of locally sourced produce, paired with a guided tasting of their wines. You’ll return to your hotel mid-afternoon, with some free time before dinner and another opportunity to try one of the area’s great restaurants.

After breakfast, take a short transfer to the Asolo hills and set off on foot along a mix of gentle trails and quiet country roads, heading towards the historic hilltop town of Asolo. Known as the Pearl of Veneto, Asolo has long drawn writers, artists, and travelers – including Robert Browning and Freya Stark – with its elegant villas, medieval walls, and wide views across the Prosecco Hills to the distant Dolomites. You’ll walk through the town center before continuing uphill into the peaceful hills above. The route loops through woodland and panoramic viewpoints, giving you a real feel for Asolo’s dramatic setting before descending back into town. Lunch is at a cozy osteria in the historic center, where you’ll tuck into regional dishes in a laid-back setting. After lunch, you’ll have time to explore at your own pace – perhaps climb to the Rocca Fortress for sweeping views, step inside the Duomo, browse craft boutiques, or simply linger over a coffee or gelato in the main square. Later in the afternoon, you’ll be picked up and taken back to your hotel.

Pause here to catch your breath and soak it all in before cruising downhill to a renowned local winery. A light vineyard lunch awaits, served with a side of relaxed hilltop charm – a well-earned reward after the morning’s ride. FAQs

Your e-bike will assist with about 25% of the effort on an average ride, meaning you'll provide about 75% of the effort. There will be moments when you'll need to switch to Boost mode for short bursts of power, especially on challenging terrain or steep sections. However, most of your ride will be in Eco and Trail modes, with Eco mode often being your go-to on climbs to conserve battery life throughout the day. This balance ensures a smooth, enjoyable ride while still giving you the thrill of exploration on two wheels.

In terms of speed, the power assistance on e-bikes is typically capped at around 16 mph. If you want to go faster, you'll need to pedal harder! You can adjust the power levels to match your pace and terrain. Your cycling guide will brief you on how to use the different modes to optimize your ride and make the battery last:

Eco Mode: Low power for energy efficiency, giving you longer battery life on flat terrain.
Auto Mode: Automatically adjusts the power based on terrain and your pedaling effort for a more balanced ride.
Sport Mode: Provides mid-range power, ideal for moderate hills and faster cruising.
Turbo Mode: Delivers maximum power, perfect for steep hills or when you want to ride fast.

When it comes to battery power, the e-bike batteries are typically charged overnight, usually at your lodging. There will be a couple of spare batteries in the support vehicle just in case. However, if you manage your battery usage throughout the day (for example, by avoiding using turbo mode all the time), you’ll find that the battery lasts long enough for most rides without any issues.

Please check that e-biking is covered under your travel insurance. The e-bikes are pedal-assist and comply with UK/EU regulations on power limits (unless stated otherwise for specific destinations).

The tap water is safe to drink. Please bring along your own reusable water bottle to fill up at the hotel or public fountains to avoid buying single-use plastic bottles.

If bad weather affects any of the activities your local guide will deviate to a more sheltered part of the hills for alternative hikes or rides, or may decide to swap around the order of the program.

During spring (April to May), the Prosecco Hills region usually enjoys mild temperatures averaging 64–73°F (18–23°C), although nights can be cooler. Summer tends to be hot and humid, with highs of 86–95°F (30–35°C) in July and August. Hiking can feel more strenuous under the sun, but this is when the landscape is at its greenest, with vines in full bloom ahead of the September harvest. October brings ideal walking weather, as temperatures remain pleasant and the trees begin shifting from dark green to shades of yellow. Each season brings something special, though winter is less suited to hiking, with freezing temperatures and a barer landscape.

Rain is possible at any time of year and climate change has made seasons a little more unpredictable than usual. Occasionally, summer storms with heavy rain and strong winds can occur. Take layered clothing to adjust to the changing temperatures and something warm for the cooler evenings if traveling in spring and autumn.

We partner with the World Land Trust to ensure this trip achieves Net-Zero emissions. We also support their Buy an Acre program, helping local communities to buy and protect natural habitats in perpetuity.

What's the number?
It works out on average at 191kg of CO2 emissions per person, including all local transport, accommodation, food, activities, guides, staff and office operations.

The only thing it doesn’t include right now is flights and travel to the destination. We do make an overall estimate across all our customers separately, but as we don’t book flights, have customers from all corners of the world, and no way of reliably knowing their travel plans, we simply can’t include an individual number in the figure on display here. We’ve got a goal to fix that, so that when you book, there is a way to measure and mitigate the carbon emitted by your flight too.

But what does the number mean?
Yep, hard to picture eh? To give you an idea:

  • Driving 1000 miles/1609km would be approximately 281kg of CO2 in an average car (or 140.5kg per person, if there were two of you in it).
  • A return economy class flight between London and New York would be approximately 1619kg (1.66 tonnes) per person.
  • 10 trees in a temperate forest are estimated to remove approximately 250kg of CO2 from the air in a period of 5-10 years.

What are we doing about it?
Our trips are relatively low-carbon by design, and we're working with all our hosts to develop long term carbon reduction plans. We partner with the World Land Trust to ensure this trip achieves Net-Zero emissions. We also support their Buy an Acre programme, helping local communities to buy and protect natural habitats in perpetuity, ensuring the protection of the reserve and its wildlife.

Want to know more?
Amazingly, no international travel company has ever publicly published their carbon measurements before, as far as we know. We believe that must change, quickly. So we’re openly sharing the method we used in the hope that other companies will be able to more easily follow suit and build on what we've done so far. You'll find it all here.
