This was a wonderful trip- more than a holiday. It was a real offer to be part of life in a magical little corner of Sardinia. I want to think about what I wanted to know in my pre holiday anxiety:
The hotel is well covered in other reviews but it’s hard not to mention how lovely it is. So clean, welcoming, and just wonderful food. It has revolutionised my ideas about where to stay on holiday. It was 25 to 30 euros from the airport or to Alghero in a taxi and I would pay that again in a heartbeat to benefit from what a haven it was- such a contrast to ‘resort’ type accommodation we drove past in Alghero along the coast.
The paddling itself. I’m 46, about 3 stone overweight and in the throes of trying to keep active while the perimenopause does what it wants. I cycle a short distance to work, and have started some weight training. I had some muscle pain that was sorted with paracetamol, but I absolutely managed the paddling and it was fun and beautiful. I worried about it way too much in advance!
Our guide was Dario, a very experienced guide from Patagonia who was caring and attentive both on and off the water, and just generally a lovely person to meet.
The group was ace - such good company and a lot of fun. It was great to meet everyone and swop stories and experiences. We had some shared jokes in no time. On the water it was very relaxed- possibly because that was the general feel of our group. So there were no speed expectations, and lots of everyone helping each other out.
It was beautiful place. The water was clear and the air was clean!
Bring waterproof sun block for your knees, chin, and nose!
