Key Information
Day 1
Welcome to Jordan

The starting point for today is your hotel in central Madaba. You'll be met at the airport and transferred to Madaba, where you are free to check in after 2:00 PM.
Day 2
Dana Nature Reserve

Driving
Hiking
After breakfast and a chance to meet your group, you’ll get the lowdown on the days ahead. Then it’s off to Dana Nature Reserve – one of Jordan’s quieter gems. You’ll hike the Shaq Al Reesh trail (or something similar), setting off from Al-Barrah and following a dramatic siq into the rocky wilds of Shaq al Reesh. The route winds past jagged mountains, natural springs and crumbling ruins that hint at ancient civilizations. It links up with the Nawatef area, where sweeping views, lush greenery and tucked-away archaeological sites add another layer of intrigue. This is a proper blend of nature and history - a peaceful yet fascinating intro to one of Jordan’s most prized reserves. You’ll round off the day at Little Petra Bedouin Camp, tucked in a quiet desert valley among sculpted sandstone. Watch the sun melt behind Petra’s peaks before bedding down for a night under the stars.
Day 3
The backdoor to Petra

Hiking
After an early breakfast, it's time to start your journey through Petra. You'll cross the desert and pass through Wadi Ghurab amidst the sandstone mountains that guard the approach to Petra. Continue via a Nabataean route that skirts the final mountain on a natural rock terrace. You'll soon reach a hidden plateau high above the impressive chasm of Wadi Siyyagh. The monastery suddenly comes into view as you follow the steps down to ancient Petra, where you'll have time to soak it all in and learn about its ancient past.
Day 4
Head to Wadi Rum and climb Jordan's tallest peak

Driving
Hiking
Head to the unique desert landscape of Wadi Rum, where you'll hop into a desert truck for the hour's drive to the foot of Um Ad Dami (5,906 ft) – the highest peak in Jordan. Hike up to the summit, from which the panorama is spectacular – to the south, you can see the border to Saudi Arabia and to the north, Jebel Rum. You'll descend to a remote Bedouin camp to relax and marvel at the stars in the clear desert night. Dinner here is a real experience – you’ll be served zarb, a delicious traditional dish cooked for 4-5 hours on hot coals under the ground.
Day 5
Wadi Rum to the Dead Sea

Driving
If you're an early bird, your Bedouin hosts will be able to point you toward a nearby sand dune for sunrise—a great opportunity to catch the unique, deep reds of the desert landscape one last time. After breakfast, you’ll drive north to the Dead Sea, the lowest point on earth, where you'll stop for a swim and a float before heading to the cosmopolitan city of Amman for your final night.
Day 6
Transfer to Airport

After breakfast and final goodbyes with your team, you'll be transferred to the airport in time for your flight home.

What is the food like?

For breakfast, expect a buffet typical of 3-star hotel breakfasts all over the world. Lunches will generally be either a packed lunch or buffet style. Dinner (where not included) will be at local restaurants and will cost approximately $15-$20 per person. Your guide will be with you to make suggestions of where to eat and when to arrange group meals. For dinner in the Bedouin camp on Day 2, you'll experience traditional Arabic food: either magloobah (rice with vegetables and chicken prepared in a traditional way with local spices) or mansaf (rice served with lamb and yogurt). These dishes come with the classic accompaniments of hummus, mtabbal (fried eggplant) and salad. Dinner at Wadi Rum on Day 4 is a real experience: here, they serve the famous zarb – rice, veggies, lamb and chicken cooked for 4-5 hours under the ground on coals, served with salads and side dishes.
Vegetarians, vegans and other dietary requirements and allergies can be catered for – please just let your host know on booking.
What is the accommodation like?

Madaba
During your overnight stay in Madaba, you will usually be tucked up in the cozy Mosaic City Hotel. This family-run hotel provides a friendly welcome in the center of ‘the city of mosaics’ and is within walking distance to the main sights. Occasionally the group may be accommodated at another property of a similar standard.

Little Petra Bedouin Camp
You’ll spend one night in a Bedouin desert fixed camp in Little Petra, just 3 miles from Petra itself. Each spacious tent is furnished with beds, mattresses, blankets, and pillows, with showers and toilets available nearby. You'll be treated to traditional Bedouin cuisine for dinner, and the camp is the perfect place for a spot of stargazing and watching the sun rise the next morning.

In Petra, you'll usually stay at the modern La Maison Hotel, which is situated only a five-minute walk from the ancient site of Petra. You’ll stay in twin-share, air-conditioned rooms with private bathrooms and free WiFi. The hotel has its own restaurant, as well as a roof terrace with a view of the hills surrounding Petra. Occasionally, the group may be accommodated at the Petra Palace Hotel instead, a property of a similar standard.

Wadi Rum
While in Wadi Rum, you’ll stay at Rainbow Camp, a Bedouin fixed camp nestled in the vast expanse of the desert with several communal areas for dining, sitting by campfires, and relaxing outside. The tents are large, square canvas tents with raised beds, mattresses, and furniture in each, and there is a shower and toilet block available too. If you would like to take your mattress outside to a nearby dune to sleep under the stars, let your guide know as this can be arranged.

Amman
In Amman, you will usually stay at the Toledo Hotel, a modern hotel chosen for its excellent location in the heart of the city and known for its great service. You’ll stay in bright, elegant rooms that have air conditioning and WiFi, on a twin-share basis. Occasionally the group may be accommodated at another property of a similar standard.
Upgrades
For solo travellers looking for their own space, an optional private room and tent can be booked throughout for an extra charge, see Optional Extras for the price. Please request this at the time of booking (this is subject to availability).
This trip has been rated as Moderate
A moderate level of fitness is needed to enjoy this trip. You won’t need to be super fit, but you should be in good shape and feel comfortable hiking up to 6 hours a day on often unsteady ground. What’s more important is being comfortable with heights. There will be a few exposed sections, so those with vertigo may not be too comfortable. Your guide will never be far away to help you get through it, though.
What will I need to carry?
You'll only need to carry a small day backpack during each day of activity. Your larger main bag will be transported for you.
Jordan's climate is characterized by long, hot, and dry summers, and short, cool winters. The climate is influenced by Jordan’s location between the subtropical aridity of the Arabian desert areas and the subtropical humidity of the eastern Mediterranean area.
The optimal seasons to explore Jordan are March to May, and September to December, when the temperature is comfortably warm but not scorching hot. The daytime temperatures during these times are around 73-81°F, and the nights are cooler, but not cold.
Traveling in December will be cooler, but it also means that the main sites (such as Petra) are far quieter. While the days are usually sunny and around 59-68°F, the nights can be very cold in the desert, and on occasion drop to near 32°F. Your reward is crisp, clear night skies in the desert.

Trip was everything I hoped for
We got a lot into the time including the amazing Petra. Mahmoud was the perfect guide; patient and knew so much. Logistics ran very smoothly.

Unforgettable experience
This trip was nothing short of incredible. The Dana Biosphere Reserve completely stole my heart - peaceful, wild, and absolutely beautiful. The hike into Petra was another major highlight; approaching the ancient city on foot made the whole experience feel so much more magical, especially with how quiet the route is.
Then came Wadi Rum, which was on a whole different level. The landscapes were out of this world; vast, otherworldly, breathtaking. The hike was easy enough and the view across to Saudi Arabia was worth it. Then stopping to watch the sun set was heavenly. If you’re considering the hot air balloon ride, do it. Floating above the desert at sunrise was truly unforgettable and absolutely worth it.
We wrapped things up at the Dead Sea, which was such a unique and fun experience before the farewell dinner in Amman, which is another interesting city to test your legs in.
There are a few long bus journeys, so be prepared for that, but honestly, it was a small trade off for everything we got to see and do. Overall, it was a stellar trip made even better by a brilliant bunch of people. I couldn’t recommend it more!
Magical Jordan!
From start to finish, this trip offers such a good mix of everything. If you like active exploring with a fun group and great guide this is the one for you. Jordan is magical and offers a lot of history around every corner.

Transcendental
An incredible experience of the beautiful Jordan - Petra, Wadi Rum, Dead Sea, Amman - totally disconnected from reality, learned so much, met amazing people, ate superb food. One of the best experiences of my life! Mahmoud is a first class tour guide!
Superb
If you are reading this review / considering this trip - just book it!
Good trip
Highlights were Wadi Rum and Petra. Bedouin camping was incredible. Food was always plentiful and delicious. The first day hiking in Dana Reserve is not as spectacular as the other hikes, and the Dead Sea experience is a bit touristy.

My first but not my last MBA trip
I will be honest, I had concerns about organized group travels ;) I envisioned a guide with some item (maybe a plush flower) that showed off touristic sights and a group of human ducklings following in a bit of a rushed manner. But my of my was I wrong. I booked the Jordan adventure because I was not unsure about the situation in the country, and wanted local guidance and oversight. What I got was nothing like I imagined. I spend a couple absolutely magical days, in a country that is not only absolutely beautiful, but hospitable to a degree that is unmatched in the Middle East! People rolled down their car windows to welcome us in Jordan and kids came to practice their English with us. Our guide, Mahmoud Bdoul, was incredible. He organized everything perfectly (and this coming from a critical German), and made sure nothing (!) felt touristic. In Petra, he even showed us the cave he grew up in and we met several of his relative. I also appreciated small things that matter to me. Our lunch packages were made by local Women associations, and for the birthday of one of our group members, he even organized a cake and transported it to the desert. We enjoyed him and the group so much, that on our two free evenings, we still had him organize dinner and went all together. I could go on an also talk about how special and beautiful all the days were, but I think pictures say more than words. After these days in Jordan, I realized three things - I love Jordan and the people, I was 100% wrong about organized group trips (at least the MBA kind) and I met wonderful people that I will certainly see again.
Excellent Trip
Amazing trip with the perfect amount of hiking and down time. Ahlam is an amazing guide

Just WOW!
What an incredible adventure! Jordan is absolutely stunning. A truly magical place and the people were incredible. Our guide Ahlam was so knowledgeable, friendly and a joy to spend time with. If you were ever thinking about going but not sure just do it - you will not be disappointed
Amazing trip!!
Beautiful sights, really fun group and so well organised! The itinerary was perfect, and I had such a great time. Ahlam was our guide and she’s absolutely fantastic, so helpful and she really made the trip atmosphere so relaxed and fun. Thank you!!
Just Amazing
What a fantastic experience. Our local guide Ahlam just made it all so easy and perfect. Couldn’t have asked for anyone better.
Jordan Hike
A fantastic week. Dahlia our guide was brilliant loved the whole trip.

Adventure hiking in Jordan - spectacular
If you’re thinking about booking this trip just do it and thank me later.
If like me you were slightly apprehensive about the tension in the area, this was not even a consideration, once you get there you’ll understand. This is my 2nd trip with MBA and it was outstanding. I opted for a single room upgrade as a personal preference but those that shared had a great time, just depends what experience you would like. I also arrived in Madaba a day early to acclimate and do a bit of sight seeing, St George’s church and mount Nebo are definitely worth a visit and I don’t believe you need more than a day for this.
The first day we trekked through Dana nature reserve with our local guide Salem who was fantastic, this was fairly easy/moderate. The only thing that makes it slightly more difficult is the heat, so be aware of when you book, then on to little Petra. The highlight of the trip for me was Petra and Wadi Rum. Petra takes 6-8 hours to walk through (75% is also still uncovered) and our guide throughout the whole trip Mahmoud (shaven head, as there are x2 Mahmouds) was just amazing, having been born in Petra himself, this man is amazing, he knows everyone and looks after everyone, you really get a sense of the Bedouin tribal community with him and he is also hilarious as are all the Jordanian people, so welcoming to all. Wadi Rum was also a highlight, just magical, camp out in the desert, climb Jordan highest mountain (with Mohammed as our guide, he is also fantastic), watch the sun set, sleep under the stars if you want to and then watch the sun rise ( some of us chose to do this with a hot air balloon ride, quite pricey but was definitely worth it) We then headed on to the Dead Sea (which is quite an experience) had a mud bath and a jacuzzi, which was very welcome after all the hiking. Everything is taken care of, the transfers, travel, food, all you have to do is turn up. A special shout out to all the others on this trip, everyone was so amazing, well travelled and just good people, hopefully meeting up with some of them again soon.
I can only recommend this trip as it was one of the best I’ve had, so if you’re in any doubt just read the reviews, they are really accurate, you will not be disappointed 😁

The best experience I ever had
Thanks MBA and our magnificent guide Mahmoud for this incredible trip. The hikes were amazing, the group was so friendly and the food perfect. First trip with MBA and already looking for the second. I would recommand not to look to much at photos to keep some surprise.

my best experience with MBA yet!
Every day of this trip was a highlight, and our guide consistently delivered exceptional experiences.
The meals were excellent throughout, and the accommodations were comfortable at every location.
Our guide, Mahmoud, was truly outstanding. He went above and beyond in countless ways—arranging a surprise birthday cake, organising hammam visits, and coordinating additional guided tour days for those with extended stays in Jordan. When some group members opted out of the camel ride or hot air balloon, he arranged alternative sunrise viewings.
His flexibility and attentiveness to everyone's needs were remarkable. As a Petra local, Mahmoud possesses deep knowledge of Jordanian culture and history, which he shared generously throughout the journey.
The hiking is at an easy-moderate level and proceeds at a comfortable pace, though you should be prepared for the heat if you're not accustomed to warm climates. Our group of 14 included 10 solo travelers and two pairs.
The Dana Nature Reserve hike was excellent, but the treks in Petra and Wadi Rum were absolutely spectacular. Wadi Rum's landscapes are just breathtaking. The Dead Sea provided a perfect, relaxing conclusion to the adventure.
Highly recommend this trip!
Also, Jordanians are exceptionally welcoming and funny!

Beyond the Landscapes: The People Who Made Jordan Unforgettable
This trip revealed a new side of Jordan each day, each one adding something richer and more unforgettable than the last.
We began in the Dana Biosphere Reserve, which in hindsight felt like the perfect warm-up. Its dramatic geology and striking diversity of flora and endangered fauna made it a landscape unlike anywhere else. The day set the tone for everything that followed.
Next came Petra, but not in the usual way. We started from our Bedouin camp north of Little Petra and hiked backwards through history, passing the Neolithic site of Bayda, winding through the mountains, and finally glimpsing the Monastery before descending through the ancient city. Reaching the Treasury last, emerging from the canyon dusty and exhilarated, was a moment I’ll never forget.
Our fellow travellers made every challenge more rewarding, supporting each other on steep climbs and celebrating each small victory together. It truly felt like we were tackling this journey as a team.
Wadi Rum, with its endless horizons and fiery sunsets, was the perfect finale. Our Bedouin hosts at Rainbow Camp welcomed us like family, sharing tea, laughter, and stories of how they protect this fragile desert landscape. The nights there, watching the Milky Way stretch across the sky, felt timeless.
Our main guide, Dalia, was outstanding, patient, kind, and always composed, while Salam’s humour and passion for Dana’s history brought the landscape vividly to life. I expected Petra and Wadi Rum to be my biggest highlights, but what truly stayed with me was experiencing Bedouin culture, the warmth, resilience, and generosity that turned an adventure into a connection.
If you’re considering this trip, stop hesitating and go. Jordan will surprise you, humble you, and linger in your memory long after the dust has settled.

Incredible trip!
This trip absolutely blew me away. We had such a great time, the hikes, the scenery, the people, Petra, Dead Sea, sunsets in the desert, the list goes on and on. Every day was different, but enjoyable. Literally no bad words to say. Very well organised, memories for a lifetime. Really recommend this trip to anyone. Book on!
6 stars!
Fabulous adventure, brilliantly organised, amazing guide (Dalia), incredible country and a wonderful group. Go on this trip!
Best best trip EVER!
This Jordan hike was my first MBA tour and man did they deliver. The itinerary takes you to the best spots in Jordan, from sunsets in the desert, the dead sea, to long day hikes in the company of a great crew and our best guide Daliah! The days are different, always surprising. I’m vegetarian and had no issues at all with the menus served. What a beautiful country, if you’re unsure I found this to be THE BEST first experience!

An unforgettable adventure
This trip was absolutely incredible, with a great mix of hiking, history (Courtesy of our guide Mahmoud), and jaw-dropping scenery. Walking through the backdoor, having started in Little Petra was a real highlight. The Treasury was a highlight but starting at the other end at the Monastery was definitely the way to do it.
Wadi Rum was just as magical, especially watching the sun rise over the desert from a hot air balloon.
We had a great group of people and a huge thank-you to our guide Mahmoud. He looked after everyone and made sure we got the most out of every day.
If you’re thinking about booking this adventure, do it.

A week to remember
A trip that surpassed my high expectations! Every day felt like a new adventure. Mahmood our guide had the perfect blend of knowledge and humour, keeping us entertained for the whole trip. Whole heartedly recommend this trip to anyone considering it!
Book the trip!
Mahmood was a fantastic guide, bringing lots of fun from day one and full of knowledge about the country as a whole. Each day was different with such staggering variety of sceneries. Food was fantastic everywhere we went. Truly a trip to remember

Petra to the Desert
I couldn’t recommend Jordan more and this trip was an incredible way to see it. Our guide Mahmood was amazing, he was funny, informative and great at anticipating our needs. He’d tell us just what we wanted to know at the perfect time and is so passionate about his country.
I’d wanted to see Petra for years and it was the absolute highlight of the trip, but everything else came such a close second. Wadi Rum is so beautiful and otherworldly and the Jeep trip across the desert to climb the highest peak felt so adventurous. I’d also really recommend doing the balloon ride if you get a chance. The Dead Sea and Dana were amazing added bonuses to an unforgettable trip.
The food was delicious and we got to try a range of local dishes. The people were so warm, friendly and hospitable and the country felt so safe.
Jordan completely exceeded my expectations in every way.

An Amazing Experience
I had the best time on this trip exploring Jordan last week.
Our guide Mahmood really made the trip, his knowledge and passion for the country and history was incredible, and his humour and light-hearted style kept us laughing the whole trip.
Everything was impeccably organised from the transfers, accommodation and food to the amazing daily itineraries.
Spending time in the Dana Biosphere Reserve, Petra and Wadi Rum was amazing and something I will never forget.
An experience of a lifetime.

Incredible Jordan
Had a fantastic time with a great group. Mahmood our guide was fantastic, knowledgeable and supportive throughout the tour. Providing so much passion and info about Jordan, it was amazing.
I had an incredible experience
I had an incredible experience on my Much Better Adventures trip to Jordan. Everything was perfectly organised and the value for money was outstanding, the pricing was very reasonable for what was included. Our guide Mahmood was exceptional: knowledgeable, warm, and always going the extra mile to make sure everyone was comfortable and having the best time. This trip far exceeded my expectations and I would highly recommend it to anyone considering Jordan.
An Unforgettable Journey Through Petra & Wadi Rum
I recently had the absolute pleasure of exploring Petra and Wadi Rum in Jordan, and it was absolutely wonderful.
Throughout the trip, our guide Mahmood's wit and humor kept us laughing and engaged, and their passion for the places we visited made everything even more special.
Petra is immense and full of hidden gems beyond the iconic spots, and our guide brought it all to life. They were not only incredibly knowledgeable and insightful but also funny and engaging, making the history feel vibrant and real.
Wadi Rum was a complete contrast, yet equally amazing. The vast, Martian-like desert landscapes are unlike anything I’ve ever seen. We rode in 4x4s over sand dunes, climbed the highest peak, and watched the sun set in the the desert.
The trip was well organised and the company was committed to supporting local communities. From the guides to the accommodations, everything felt authentic and connected to the people of Jordan.
Transport was also a breeze—we traveled in an air-conditioned bus, which made even the longer drives feel relaxed and easy. Every detail was taken care of, and the whole experience felt seamless.
This tour is the perfect way to experience the beauty, history, and culture of Petra and Wadi Rum with people who are passionate about their country. Highly recommended!

An excellent tour of some of Jordans best locations
This trip covered an excellent itinerary showcasing some of the best that Jordan has to offer. From start to finish and from day one to day five I was not disappointed.
For a lot of people Petra is the key attraction to think of when it comes to Jordan but there is so much more this country can offer and this trip definitely delivers on that front.
The organisation of the trip was without fault and the tour guide accompanying us (Mahmoud) was welcoming, friendly, and knowledgeable - he certainly enhanced the experience with conversation and insight into the culture and history of the peoples as well as the geography and wildlife of each part of Jordan that we visited.
The hikes were well paced and the toughest part was dealing with the heat during the day moreso than the terrain. Be warned that day time temperatures during June were mid 30Cs and from mid morning onwards the heat would really pick up. If heat is something you struggle with then it would be sensible to book in other months when the temperature is cooler.
The breakfasts and lunches were tasty and the freedom to choose to eat at restaurants in a few of the cities we stopped in gives the oppotunity to try a more expanded offering of Jordanian cuisine.
This trip left me with some great memories, awesome moments, and was an excellent experience overall. This is certainly an adventure I would recommend doing

Impressive Jordan Excursion
This trip shows you all you need to see from Jordan. From some introduction and ending time in the cities of Madaba and Amman, to the desert of Wadi-Rum and the legendary city of Petra this tour features it all. The guide, Mahmood, was super friendly and helpful with everything in country and the MBA team were quick and responsive with queries I had before we went.
This is a terrific trip to see the sights of Jordan whilst stretching the legs with some moderate hikes - don't overthink it, book it.
My only tip; lunch wasn't to everyone's tastes so bring some snacks in case .

Tips
Tips are not included in the trip cost. These are entirely at your discretion, but there is an expectation in Jordan to tip for good service. Your guide will help with advice; however, we suggest the below as a guideline:
- Main Guide: $5+ per person, per day
- Driver: $3+ per person, per day
- Local guides: $3+ per person, per guide
- Hotel porters: $2 per person, per day
- Restaurants: £1 per person
- Jeep drivers: $2 per person
Of course, you are free to tip more or less and the amount should be reflective of your perception of service and quality – while often expected, a tip is not compulsory and should only be given when you receive excellent service.
Travel insurance
Travel insurance is compulsory for all of our adventures, and you'll need to provide your policy details before departure. Your insurance should offer adequate cover for overseas medical treatment, evacuation/repatriation, your baggage and equipment, and the specific activities involved in your adventure. We also recommend ensuring your policy includes cancellation and curtailment cover, in case you're unable to join your trip due to unforeseen circumstances such as illness.
Standard travel insurance may not cover all the activities included in your adventure, so it's essential to check the details carefully. There are adventure-specific providers that many travelers have used in the past, such as True Traveller (for those based in the UK or Europe), or Rise + Shield, both of which offer cover for a wide range of adventurous activities.
Please make sure your chosen policy meets your individual needs and covers all aspects of your trip.
Visas
Visa requirements often change, and you are responsible for obtaining any required visas for this trip. Please check with your nearest embassy or consulate for up-to-date advice, or contact the Jordan Tourism Board for updates specific to your nationality.
Most travelers need a visa to visit Jordan, but the process is simple and flexible. There are two main ways to get your visa:
-
Visa on arrival: many nationalities (including UK, US, EU, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand) can obtain a single-entry visa on arrival at Queen Alia International Airport in Amman, or at designated land borders. The fee is 40 JOD (approximately $56). Lines can be long during busy periods.
-
E-visa: There is an option to apply for a visa online before traveling via the Jordan e-visa portal. Approval online is usually quick, however, it won’t generally save you any time on arrival, as you’ll still have to join the same line to get your passport stamped.
Personal Expenses
You know your own spending habits best, so please budget an appropriate amount for things like optional meals and drinks, shopping, optional activities, and laundry.
What do I need to bring?
- Main bag (duffel bag or small suitcase)
- Day pack (15-25 liters) to carry the essentials while hiking

We partner with the World Land Trust to ensure this trip achieves Net-Zero emissions. We also support their Buy an Acre program, helping local communities to buy and protect natural habitats in perpetuity.
What's the number?
It works out on average at 278kg of CO2 emissions per person, including all local transport, accommodation, food, activities, guides, staff and office operations.
The only thing it doesn’t include right now is flights and travel to the destination. We do make an overall estimate across all our customers separately, but as we don’t book flights, have customers from all corners of the world, and no way of reliably knowing their travel plans, we simply can’t include an individual number in the figure on display here. We’ve got a goal to fix that, so that when you book, there is a way to measure and mitigate the carbon emitted by your flight too.
But what does the number mean?
Yep, hard to picture eh? To give you an idea:
- Driving 1000 miles/1609km would be approximately 281kg of CO2 in an average car (or 140.5kg per person, if there were two of you in it).
- A return economy class flight between London and New York would be approximately 1619kg (1.66 tonnes) per person.
- 10 trees in a temperate forest are estimated to remove approximately 250kg of CO2 from the air in a period of 5-10 years.
What are we doing about it?
Our trips are relatively low-carbon by design, and we're working with all our hosts to develop long term carbon reduction plans. We partner with the World Land Trust to ensure this trip achieves Net-Zero emissions. We also support their Buy an Acre programme, helping local communities to buy and protect natural habitats in perpetuity, ensuring the protection of the reserve and its wildlife.
Want to know more?
Amazingly, no international travel company has ever publicly published their carbon measurements before, as far as we know. We believe that must change, quickly. So we’re openly sharing the method we used in the hope that other companies will be able to more easily follow suit and build on what we've done so far. You'll find it all here.
Yes, you can definitely book last minute, although this trip does regularly sell out, so we recommend booking early to guarantee your spot on the trip. If requesting a spot less than 31 days in advance, the host will need to check accommodation availability before accepting your booking (please do not buy flights until your booking has been confirmed by the host).
Ramadan will take place from around Tuesday, February 17th to Wednesday, March 18th in 2026, with exact dates to be confirmed. The national holiday of Eid ul-Fitr will follow for 2-3 days. Ramadan is an Islamic festival where the religious do not eat or drink during daylight hours. While this is a really interesting time to travel, you can expect some business hours will be shortened, alcohol is not permitted during daylight hours, and some restaurants will be closed during this festival period. Activities for local people tend to be limited during the day, and the nights are very active in cities, with lots of different foods being sold and consumed. However, in hotel restaurants and tourist areas, food and drink are served as normal and Ramadan will not affect the inclusions on your trip. Liquor stores are likely to be closed for the month, but in tourist enclaves, bars stay open (some may not allow alcohol outdoors – but inside is generally okay).
Yes. Trips to Jordan have been running as normal since the Israel conflict escalated in October 2023, and then again in June 2025 – check out our latest customer reviews! Much Better Adventures operate trips in line with the British FCDO travel advice and also consult with security advisors, both of whom have confirmed that trips are safe to run. We continue to receive real-time updates from the FCDO and our local host in Jordan will also inform us immediately should anything change locally. In case you have any questions, we have prepared some additional information about travel to Jordan during the Middle East Conflict.
If you’re based in the United States, you can check the latest travel advisories from the U.S. Department of State.
For travelers from other international locations, we recommend checking the official travel advice issued by your government, as guidance may vary.
Tourists are not allowed to bring drones, binoculars, or some large telephoto camera lenses into Jordan. These will be confiscated at the airport and returned on departure, so please do not risk bringing these on your trip. Even if these are missed by airport security, your guide cannot allow them to be used, as this can have legal consequences if you are caught.
This trip operates in areas where daytime temperatures can reach extreme levels, with limited shade and, at times, high humidity adding to the challenge. These conditions can affect physical performance and increase the risk of dehydration or heat-related illness. Your guide will adjust the pace and monitor the group closely, but staying well hydrated, wearing suitable clothing, and using sun protection is essential.
Before traveling, consider your ability to remain active in high temperatures and consult a medical professional if you have any concerns, especially if you have cardiovascular or heat-sensitive conditions. Arriving a day or two before the trip may help you adjust gradually to the heat.
You shouldn’t drink tap water in Jordan. Your trip vehicle will have large containers of water that you can fill your water bottles with before and after each hike. At most hotels, drinking water should be purchased; unfortunately, very few hotels currently provide refilling stations.
In the event of heavy rain, strong winds or storms, conditions may be unsafe to complete the planned hikes. Your guide will monitor forecasts and make decisions with safety in mind. If needed, the itinerary may be adjusted and an alternative route or activity offered.
