Itinerary
Day 1
Welcome to Andalucía!
HotelTwin shareDinner includedShow Day 1 detailHide detail
You'll meet your local host at Seville Airport and be whisked off into the lush landscapes of the Sierra de Grazalema Natural Park. This rugged corner of northeast Andalucia is dotted with whitewashed villages tucked between forested hills and limestone peaks. Settle into your hotel, the standout stay of the trip, a beautiful spot right in the heart of the park. Later, stretch your legs with a wander through nearby Grazalema, one of the prettiest villages in the sierras. In the evening, enjoy a welcome dinner and get to know your guides over a chat about the days ahead.
Day 2
Caminito del Rey
Hiking3-4hrs · 5mi · 656ft up · 656ft downDriving2hrsHotelTwin shareAll meals includedShow Day 2 detailHide detail
You’ll take a short drive through the rolling Andalusian countryside to reach the trailhead of the Caminito del Rey, once nicknamed the most dangerous hike in the world. That title no longer applies, thanks to a major restoration in 2015 that replaced crumbling paths with secure boardwalks bolted to the cliffs of El Chorro Gorge, high above the Río Guadalhorce. Helmet on, you’ll follow the trail through pine woodland and across dramatic suspended walkways. The gorge narrows so tightly in places that you can almost touch the opposite wall, with dizzying drops just below your feet. After the hike, tuck into lunch at La Garganta restaurant, perched with views over the valley. Then it’s on to Ronda, a spectacular clifftop town with a rich cultural heritage, once home to Moorish rulers and a source of inspiration for writers such as Hemingway and Orson Welles and the famous Spanish poet Federico García Lorca. Enjoy a stroll around town and a well-earned sundowner before returning to Grazalema for dinner and a chilled-out evening.
*It's worth noting that the Caminito del Rey is a popular route and can get busy at times. This trip runs outside peak school holidays, so visitor numbers are typically lower on these dates.
Day 3
Canyoneering in the Sierra de Ronda
Canyoning3-4hrsHotelTwin shareAll meals includedShow Day 3 detailHide detail
Fuel up on breakfast before heading to La Sima del Diablo, a scenic canyon tucked into the Genal Valley near the small town of Juzcar. Surrounded by dense Mediterranean forest and carved with dramatic rock formations, it’s a top spot for canyoning. With water flowing year-round, you'll navigate natural slides, tackle a few rappels and leap into deep pools, all under the guidance of experienced local canyoning guides. After a few adrenaline-filled hours, dry off and head to a nearby village for a late Spanish-style lunch among classic whitewashed houses and rolling countryside. This evening, your host will take you to a local restaurant in Grazalema for dinner.
Day 4
Hike the Pinsapar Trail in the Sierra de Grazalema
Hiking4hrs · 7mi · 2297ft up · 2297ft downDriving2hrsHotelTwin shareAll meals includedShow Day 4 detailHide detail
After breakfast, say goodbye to your first base and head deeper into the sierras, leaving behind Andalucia's canyons and villages. Today’s hike follows the Pinsapar Trail, a brilliant half-day route through a biosphere reserve. You'll begin with a steady climb to a ridge overlooking the peak of San Cristobal, the rugged face of El Torreón and a scatter of white towns nestled in the green valleys below. From there, descend into a dense forest of pinsapo, a rare Spanish fir found only here and in Morocco’s Rif Mountains. Their presence helped earn this area its biosphere status. In some sections, the canopy is so thick that little light gets through, creating a cool and peaceful atmosphere. Stop for a picnic lunch along the way, then finish the five-hour walk and hop in the van for the 90-minute drive to the Mediterranean coast. Arrive in Conil de la Frontera, a lively beach town on the Costa de la Luz, and round off the day with dinner at a nearby restaurant and a taste of the relaxed seaside vibe.
Day 5
Kayaking in the Bay of Sancti Petri & Andalusian wine tasting
Stand Up Paddleboarding3hrsHotelTwin shareBreakfast and lunch includedShow Day 5 detailHide detail
Grab breakfast and a quick dip in the sea before heading up the coast to the Bahía de Cádiz Natural Park. Here, you'll hop on a paddleboard to explore the coastline. Depending on the sea conditions, you’ll either paddle out into the bay towards the island fortress of Sancti Petri Castle or wind through the sheltered channels of the Sancti Petri marshes. After your paddle, head to a winery and restaurant in the charming town of Chiclana de la Frontera for lunch and a tasting of Andalusia’s celebrated wines, including those from the sherry-producing region around Jerez de la Frontera. This evening is yours to enjoy, take your pick from the local beach bars and restaurants for a laid-back night by the sea.
Day 6
Bike the Costa de la Luz to beaches and fishing villages
Cycling3-4hrs · 19mi · 755ft up · 755ft downHotelTwin shareAll meals includedShow Day 6 detailHide detail
Today you’ll swap hiking boots for two wheels as you explore a beautiful stretch of the Costa de la Luz. Set off from Conil and cycle west along the cliffs toward Roche lighthouse and Puerto de Conil, passing striking rock formations and spotting birdlife along the way. Pedal through the Roche pine forest, a protected Mediterranean woodland filled with pine, mastic, rosemary, juniper, and palmetto. You’ll also visit a string of golden beaches and tucked-away coves, including Cala del Aceite, Cala del Pato, Cala Encendida, and the sweeping Roche Beach, with time for a swim or sunbathe and a scenic picnic. Return to the hotel in the mid-afternoon for a bit of downtime before heading out to celebrate the final night of your adventure. Your host will take you to a local tavern for a traditional Andalucian dinner.
Day 7
Adiós, Andalusia
Driving2.5hrsBreakfast includedShow Day 7 detailHide detail
Your adventure wraps up today as your host drives you back to Seville Airport. The journey takes around 90 minutes, so avoid booking any flights before 1:00 PM. If you’ve got time to spare, the Cádiz coast is a great spot to linger a little longer, whether you’re keen to explore more of Andalucía or just unwind on the beach for a few extra days.

FAQs
How has this trip evolved since it first launched?
This trip initially launched in 2023 with a base in Ronda for the first three nights of the trip. Due to some overtourism concerns in Ronda, we have since switched to a new base in Sierra de Grazalema. We have some wonderful feedback from the first groups who loved this 4-star hotel, and its sister hotel on the coast in Conil de la Frontera. Consequently, we have added the trip to our Premium Collection for 2026 to reflect the excellent standards at the two bases used, while adding some additional top-notch food experiences such as dinner at a much-loved local restaurant in Grazalema, and at an Andalucian winery on the coast. We have also adjusted the start point from Malaga to Seville for a smoother start and end to the trip, moved the location of the canyoning on Day 3 to allow for less time on the road, and switched kayaks for paddleboards on Day 5 for some added fun on the water.
What if things don't go as planned?
Your host is an expert in outdoor adventure activities in Spain and has operated many trips for Much Better Adventures in various parts of the country since 2019. If conditions affect any of the activities on the trip, your host will rearrange the order of activities or make suitable substitutions where needed. The trip has been designed and the departure dates selected to take advantage of the best conditions for a smooth adventure.
How many guides and support crew will there be on my trip?
You'll have a main guide with the group from start to finish, and additional canyoneering, kayaking and biking guides will join the group for these activities during the trip.
Can I store my excess baggage somewhere?
Your main luggage can remain at the bases in Ronda and Conil de la Frontera while you head out on each day's adventures. It will be transported for you from Ronda to Conil de la Frontera.
What should I do about drinking water?
The tap water on this trip is safe to drink. In Ronda, the water is drinkable, but it's known for being quite hard and doesn't always taste good. Most people, locals and travelers alike, drink filtered water—your hotel will have filtered water available to fill up from. You may also like to check out our article on the best water filters for adventurers if you wish to have filtered water on the go.
What type of bikes are supplied?
You'll be riding a hardtail mountain bike with front suspension and flat pedals. You'll be fitted for the correct size of bike based on your height.
Can my dietary requirements be accommodated on this adventure?
At Much Better Adventures, we work hard to accommodate dietary requirements and allergies so your trip is safe, inclusive, and enjoyable. That said, options can vary by country, location, and lodging, and in some places, options may be limited or unavailable. The information below has been provided by your host so you’re fully informed about what will be possible on your trip depending on your individual requirements. This information should be read carefully before your trip to ensure that you are adequately prepared for the situation ‘on the ground’.
Once you have booked your trip, please fill out your passenger information form asap with any dietary requirements. Once you complete your passenger information, your dietary needs and any allergies are automatically shared with your host and, in turn, your guide. Please submit this as early as possible so they can plan accordingly and deliver the best experience. Please also remind your guide about your dietary requirements upon arrival, as mentioning these in person allows your guide to comprehend individual preferences and limitations as soon as you arrive.
BACKGROUND
Spain’s cuisine is shaped by a mix of Mediterranean agriculture, regional climates, and a long history of trade and cultural exchange, resulting in varied, seasonal dishes that often center on olive oil, vegetables, seafood, and cured meats. This diversity means travelers with dietary requirements can often find suitable options, particularly in larger towns, though menus can be meat- and dairy-heavy in some regions. Vegetarian and gluten-free choices are increasingly understood, but it helps to plan ahead and communicate needs clearly, with a guide on hand to assist where language or local customs present challenges.
SPECIAL DIETS
Vegetarian Vegetarian diets can be catered for on this trip, provided that your host is made aware in advance.
Vegan Vegan diets can be catered for on this trip, provided that your host is made aware in advance.
Kosher Fully certified Kosher kitchens and supervision are rare and usually cannot be guaranteed unless expressly confirmed in advance by your host. Vegetarian or vegan options can often be the most reliable alternative if this is acceptable to you. Please read the related sections above.
Halal Certified Halal supply varies by destination and may not always be possible. Vegetarian or vegan options can often be the most reliable alternative if this is acceptable to you. Please read the related sections above.
INTOLERANCES
Gluten Free (for Celiac, please see Allergies section below) Gluten-free diets can be catered for on this trip, provided that your host is made aware in advance.
Lactose-free Lactose-free diets can be catered for on this trip, provided that your host is made aware in advance.
ALLERGIES
Our host has confirmed that they are able to accommodate mild allergies to the 14 allergens identified by the UK Food Standards Agency, where these are disclosed in advance. However, if you have a severe or life-threatening food allergy, please get in touch with our Customer Experience team prior to booking to discuss whether your requirements can be accommodated safely on this trip. This will allow us to carefully consider the sensitivity and severity of your allergy, the available provision on the trip, and the accessibility of medical care should a reaction occur. Your safety is always our top priority.
Please note that when traveling overseas, local ingredients, food preparation methods, and labeling standards may vary, particularly in remote areas. It is also worth noting that any allergies may result in more limited options and repetitive provision in some areas. While your guide will help communicate dietary requirements where possible, customers remain responsible for managing their own allergies during the trip.
Can I book on my own?
Sure can! Over 70% of our travellers travel solo, it’s a great way to meet like-minded people.
Who is running the trip?
Our team of Adventure Hunters co-create exclusive adventures which are run by highly vetted, specialist hosts. The trip is run by our trusted host partner in the destination. We only work with independent, local, in-destination experts who know the very best places to explore and how to stay safe. Read more information about the local teams we partner with. You’ll be introduced to the host straight after making a booking via the Much Better Adventures platform.
What is the official travel advice?
Much Better Adventures refer to the UK Government’s official travel advice when designing trips and monitoring trip operations. We recommend that all customers review the practical information available on the UK Government’s FCDO website, where you can find up-to-date advice by searching for your destination(s).
If you are based in the United States, you can also check the latest travel advisories from the U.S. Department of State.
For customers joining from other international locations, we recommend checking the official travel advice issued by your country of residence, as guidance may vary.
What vaccinations do I need?
We recommend checking out the country-specific information and also talking to a travel nurse.
How are the trips priced?
We automatically convert prices from the local currency that a host receives to your chosen currency. We update our exchange rates daily, so prices displayed on the site are subject to currency fluctuations, which is why you may see them change over time.

Why are your adventures only for adults?

Our sociable adventures are solo-friendly by design and naturally attract outdoorsy people with a shared mindset; a love for adventure, a desire to push themselves, and meet awesome, like-minded people along the way.

What's the weather like?
We run this trip from April to June, and September to October. The peak summer months of July and August are uncomfortably hot for outdoor activities, and there are more tourists in Andalucia during those months, so we do not offer trips during the peak of summer.
April and October in Andalucia are generally mild and pleasant months to visit, with a mix of sunny days and the occasional rainy spell. The landscape is more lush and green in the spring and fall, making it a beautiful time to visit.
May, June, and September are dry and sunny months to visit, with higher temperatures perfect for the water activities on this trip. See below for a summary of temperature deviations to expect, depending on which month you reserve.
April: average 59-68°F, with highs occasionally reaching 77°F May: 64°F-75°F. Highs can reach 82°F in inland areas June: 72-86°F. In some areas, especially inland, highs can reach 95°F September: 75-90°F. Coastal areas can be slightly cooler, around 72°F-82°F October: 64°F-77°F. Nights become cooler, especially inland, with lows of around 54°F-59°F
What's the carbon footprint for this trip?
We partner with the World Land Trust to ensure this trip achieves Net-Zero emissions. We also support their Buy an Acre program, helping local communities to buy and protect natural habitats in perpetuity.
What's the number?
It works out on average at 198kg of CO2 emissions per person, including all local transport, accommodation, food, activities, guides, staff and office operations.
The only thing it doesn’t include right now is flights and travel to the destination. We do make an overall estimate across all our customers separately, but as we don’t book flights, have customers from all corners of the world, and no way of reliably knowing their travel plans, we simply can’t include an individual number in the figure on display here. We’ve got a goal to fix that, so that when you book, there is a way to measure and mitigate the carbon emitted by your flight too.
But what does the number mean?
Yep, hard to picture eh? To give you an idea:
- Driving 1000 miles/1609km would be approximately 281kg of CO2 in an average car (or 140.5kg per person, if there were two of you in it).
- A return economy class flight between London and New York would be approximately 1619kg (1.66 tonnes) per person.
- 10 trees in a temperate forest are estimated to remove approximately 250kg of CO2 from the air in a period of 5-10 years.
What are we doing about it?
Our trips are relatively low-carbon by design, and we're working with all our hosts to develop long term carbon reduction plans. We partner with the World Land Trust to ensure this trip achieves Net-Zero emissions. We also support their Buy an Acre programme, helping local communities to buy and protect natural habitats in perpetuity, ensuring the protection of the reserve and its wildlife.
Want to know more?
Amazingly, no international travel company has ever publicly published their carbon measurements before, as far as we know. We believe that must change, quickly. So we’re openly sharing the method we used in the hope that other companies will be able to more easily follow suit and build on what we've done so far. You'll find it all here.
