Key Information
Day 1
Touch down in Turkey

Hoşgeldiniz – welcome to Turkey! Your host will meet you at Kayseri Airport and transfer you to your hotel in Urgup, a charming town set among the otherworldly landscapes of Cappadocia. Compared to nearby Goreme, Urgup offers a quieter, more authentic atmosphere, known for its boutique feel, traditional architecture, and strong local character. For the next four nights, you’ll stay in a boutique cave hotel, thoughtfully converted from historic stone dwellings and offering a comfortable and characterful retreat. Depending on your arrival time, enjoy some free time to explore Urgup’s atmospheric streets, dotted with wine houses, artisan shops, and local cafes. As the day winds down, take in panoramic views of Cappadocia’s surreal views from your hotel terrace before gathering with your fellow travelers for a welcome drink and dinner.
Day 2
From fairy chimneys to fine wine

Hiking
After a relaxed breakfast in Urgup, set off for a scenic loop hike from Goreme through Pigeon Valley to Uçhisar, returning via the famous White and Love Valleys. You’ll walk among Cappadocia’s iconic fairy chimneys, winding through sculpted rock formations, tunnels, and panoramic viewpoints. Along the route, you'll also stop for a visit to Uçhisar Castle, the highest viewpoint in Cappadocia, where panoramic views stretch across the region’s striking terrain. These trails are spectacular year-round, offering ever-changing light and colors — and if you visit in winter, you’ll enjoy peaceful, crowd-free paths and, with a bit of luck, a light dusting of snow that adds a magical touch to the already surreal landscape. Back in Urgup, you're off to a historic cave wine cellar for a guided tasting of Anatolian wines. Learn how Cappadocia’s volcanic rock provides ideal conditions for winemaking as you sample a variety of local blends before returning to your boutique hotel. This evening, dinner is left open for you to enjoy at your own pace — explore one of town's excellent local restaurants, or if you feel like unwinding, you might choose to pamper yourself with a visit to a traditional hammam nearby.
Day 3
Explore the Red and Meskendir Valleys

Hiking
Wake before sunrise for a truly unforgettable, bucket-list experience – an (optional) hot air balloon ride over Cappadocia’s dreamlike landscape, drifting above ancient cave dwellings and surreal rock formations. This activity is payable locally and subject to weather conditions, but don’t worry – there will be other chances to try again later in the trip if needed. Later in the morning, set off on a scenic hike through the Red and Meskendir Valleys, known for their pink-hued cliffs, natural tunnels, and hidden cave chapels. Your walk ends in Cavusin, a former Roman settlement with striking rock-cut dwellings and stone-carved architecture dating back to 150 BC. For lunch, head to the Hereni Women’s Cooperative for a hands-on cooking class. Local women will share cherished family recipes as you prepare a hearty meal together in a warm and welcoming village setting. Time permitting, in the afternoon, continue to Zemi Valley for a second short hike – a peaceful trail winding through lush scenery, fairy chimneys, and lesser-visited formations. The walk ends in Göreme, where you’ll have time to explore, relax, or enjoy a traditional Turkish coffee before returning to your hotel in Urgup where the evening is yours to enjoy.
Day 4
Derinkuyu underground city and Ihlara Valley

Hiking
Driving
Start the day early with a drive from Urgup to the remarkable underground city of Derinkuyu — the largest excavated of its kind in Turkey. This vast, multi-level complex descends around 279 feet below ground and once sheltered up to 20,000 people, along with their livestock and supplies. Explore its narrow passageways, ventilation shafts, storage rooms, and communal areas to get a fascinating glimpse into how communities lived and survived here during times of siege. After resurfacing, continue to the breathtaking Ihlara Valley, where you’ll embark on your final hike of the trip. This dramatic canyon, carved by the Melendiz River, is flanked by steep rock walls and shaded by poplars and willows. As you follow the trail alongside flowing streams, keep an eye out for centuries-old cave churches and monasteries carved into the cliffs — remnants of a once-flourishing monastic community. Return to your hotel in Urgup in the late afternoon to freshen up before you join your group for a farewell dinner in an atmospheric cave restaurant — a fitting finale to your Cappadocian adventure.
Day 5
Goodbye Cappadocia!

After breakfast in Urgup, it’s time to say goodbye to your fellow travelers as your Cappadocian adventure comes to an end. You’ll be transferred to the airport for your onward journey. Since most international flights from Kayseri Airport connect via Istanbul, you might wish to extend your trip with a few extra days in one of the world’s most vibrant and culturally rich cities.

Transfers
On Day 1, your host will meet you on arrival at Kayseri Airport and transfer you to your hotel. A welcome meeting with your guide will take place at the hotel, usually around 6:00 PM, followed by a welcome dinner at a local restaurant. We recommend booking a flight that arrives by 4:00 PM to ensure you’re on time for the group meeting and evening meal.
On Day 5, your host will arrange a group transfer from Urgup back to Kayseri Airport to meet your onward flight.
Please note that transfers will be scheduled based on group flight times, so you may experience a short wait if other travelers are arriving or departing at similar times. Regular shuttle buses also run between Göreme and Kayseri Airport (approximately 1 hour 15 minutes, costing around $5 per person).
If you plan to arrive early or extend your stay, additional nights at the hotel and private airport transfers can be arranged in advance through your host for an extra cost. Please see Optional Extras for further details.
Travel options
There are indirect international flights to Kayseri from the UK, as well as direct and indirect flights from various major hubs in Europe which transit via Istanbul. If you wish to include an overnight stay in Istanbul, it may be cheaper to consider separate tickets with different airlines (e.g. Wizzair or other low cost airlines from the UK to Istanbul; then internal flights between Istanbul and Kayseri Airport with Turkish Airlines or others).
Alternatively, you can choose to fly into Nevsehir Airport (40 minutes away from Göreme) or travel from Istanbul to Göreme via an overnight bus – your host can arrange pick-up transfers from any place in Cappadocia on request. Please contact them for further info and ad hoc rates.
From the US, there are indirect flights from various major hubs which transit via Istanbul and Frankfurt.

What is the food like?

Food is a big part of the experience on this trip, and Turkish cuisine offers much more than the classic kebab. You’ll enjoy three lunches and two dinners at hand-picked local restaurants, where menus reflect the rich regional flavors and use of seasonal ingredients — from slow-cooked stews and mezze platters to fresh salads and oven-baked breads. A highlight of the trip is a hands-on cooking session at a local women’s cooperative, where you’ll prepare a traditional meal using family recipes passed down through generations. You’ll also take part in a guided wine tasting in a historic cave cellar, sampling a range of Anatolian wines that reflect Cappadocia’s unique volcanic terroir. Turkish breakfasts are generous and mezze-style, typically including fresh bread, olives, cheese, tomatoes, jellies, and honey — served with strong coffee or freshly brewed tea. Other regional favorites you might encounter include dolma (stuffed vegetables), lahmacun (thin flatbreads with spiced meat), and börek (savory pastries filled with cheese or greens). Vegetarians, vegans, and those with dietary requirements or allergies are well catered for — just be sure to include this information on your passenger form in advance.
What is the accommodation like?

Urgup
You’ll spend all four nights at Dere Suites, a boutique cave hotel in the heart of Urgup, one of Cappadocia’s most atmospheric and authentic towns. Set in a restored historic building, the hotel reflects traditional Cappadocian architecture and offers a premium and characterful place to stay. No two rooms are the same — each one varies in size, layout, and decor — but all are carved from the rock and feature natural stonework, handcrafted touches, and modern amenities. The hotel is just a short walk from Urgup's lively center, with its small shops, local cafes, and some of the region’s best restaurants. Dere Suites also has a bar, restaurant, and a few relaxed communal areas, with WiFi available throughout. After a day of exploring, you can unwind on the terrace with views over the stunning surrounding landscape — a peaceful spot to sit back with a glass of local wine.
Upgrades
For solo travellers looking for their own space, an optional private room can be booked for an extra charge, see Optional Extras for the price.
This trip has been rated as Easy
This trip combines gentle hiking, cultural immersion, and boutique and characterful accommodations throughout. Each day includes hikes of 3–4 hours, mostly along well-walked trails with minimal ascent or descent. No previous hiking experience is required, but a reasonable level of fitness will help you get the most out of the experience. While the hikes themselves are not particularly long or difficult, the itinerary is still busy and rewarding, with plenty of immersive cultural moments, sightseeing, and foodie experiences packed into each day — making the most of your four days in Cappadocia.
Running from October to June, the trip offers two distinct seasonal experiences. In winter, you’ll enjoy quieter trails and fewer crowds, occasionally with the added atmosphere of snow-dusted valleys. Hikes may be slightly slower or more challenging in icy conditions, but crampons are provided if needed, and your guide will show you how to use them safely. In spring and fall, the weather is milder and ideal for classic valley hikes. Beyond the trails, the trip includes a curated mix of authentic local experiences, such as a wine tasting in an atmospheric cave cellar, a hands-on cooking class at a local women’s cooperative, and meals at hand-picked restaurants showcasing regional specialties. You’ll stay in a boutique, characterful cave hotel, offering a warm and welcoming base to return to each evening.
If you don’t exercise regularly, we recommend incorporating some light to moderate activity in the weeks before departure to ensure you’re ready to fully enjoy the experience.
What if i need to skip an activity?
You’re free to skip any activity on this trip if you’d prefer to take it easy. Just let your guides know — they’re there to support you. If you decide to sit something out, there’s often the option to enjoy some extra downtime at the hotel or in the local towns.
What will I need to carry?
You'll need to have a larger bag suitable for all your belongings which can be left at the hotel, and then a small daypack to carry personal items during each day of hiking.
This trip runs from October to June, avoiding the busiest and hottest summer months. By focusing on the winter and shoulder seasons, it offers a more comfortable and authentic way to experience Cappadocia — with milder temperatures, fewer crowds, and a very different atmosphere depending on when you travel. Spring (April–May) and fall (October) are popular for a reason. With daytime temperatures ranging from 59–77°F, these months offer ideal hiking conditions and great visibility for exploring Cappadocia’s valleys and fairy chimneys. While still relatively busy at key sites, they’re noticeably quieter than the summer peak. Winter (late November to early March) brings colder conditions, with daytime temperatures between 32–50°F and below-freezing nights. Snow is possible — particularly in January and February — creating a striking, fairytale-like landscape. It’s the quietest time of year, meaning you’ll often have trails and viewpoints to yourself. All hikes remain accessible, and crampons are provided in case you need to navigate icy patches safely.
Each part of the season offers a distinct but equally rewarding experience — whether you’re looking for peaceful, snow-dusted scenery or mild, sunny days perfect for hiking.

Beautiful views and great food!
The walks were through varying landscapes every day, each of them unique and full of interesting history. They were also nice and easy as referenced in the difficulty level (perfect if you like being active but you're not actually that fit).
This could have been a food tour! All the meals were delicious.
Our guide Sefa was excellent and the group dynamic was great too.
I gather we were a little unlucky with the hotel, as our group was too big for a cave hotel. It was fine, just not as I'd imagined based on the website details.
Lastly, if you're on the fence about the hot air balloon ride, I was too but I'm so glad I did it. The views are surreal.
I'm writing this review a little late, I was there at New Year's, and Göreme sure knows how to put on a fireworks display!
Magical week
Fantasticly hosted by Sefa, a week few days full of beautiful scenery, interesting terrain and welcoming hospitable people not to mention a lovely group of travellers. Sefa’s knowledge of the geology and history complimented this trip well. Highlight included the hot air balloon, which is a must do. But if heights are not your thing, waking up early to watch them in the morning over a cup of tea became a daily ritual. So peaceful and inspiring! The hotel had everything we needed and we were well looked after by Angela. This trip israted easy. Which I would agree with, however there are still opportunities to do additional self guided walking. Should you want a little bit more? This trip will definitely stick positively in my memory bank! Thank you
The trip was wonderful! This
The trip was wonderful! This was my first MBA adventure and I can't wait to sign up for the next. The description of the trip fit perfectly and Sefa couldn't have been a better guide/host. His knowledge of the history and geology of Cappadocia was incredible.
Great company
Had an amazing trip. Our tour guide, Sefa, was the best. He was extremely knowledgeable, patient, and managed to handle each individual and situation gracefully. The trip was very well planned and organized, I knew we were dealing with professionals. I would recommend this company and tour to anyone.

Up, Up and Away!
Cappadocia, Turkey 🇹🇷
Balloons, Caves, Hammam, Orange & Pomegranate juice and of course a bit of hiking - Pigeon Valley, Love Valley and Red Valley. A magical adventure.

Beyond Incredible Experience
Wow. I can’t say enough good things about this trip. You MUST go. Apparently, it’s abnormal for an American to fly this far for a short trip but I would do it again in a heart beat.
This was my first MBA trip and it will not be my last. Every single detail was perfectly executed. The entirety of the trip was made special by Sefa Uz, our guide. He set the bar very high for my expectations on the next trip. From his professionalism to wisdom, his history lessons to hilarious sense of humor, to his calmness in chaos and organizational skills; He was incredible. Not only did he do every little thing he said he would, he did more. He offered advice for our 48 hours in Istanbul on the backend of the trip. He even helped in a pinch when we were lost or confused. I hope to be lucky enough to have Sefa again on another adventure!
The cave hotel was magical. The owners are phenomenal. The hospitality and breakfast were superb.
The itinerary for this trip was filled with leisure but for those who are like me, don’t worry, you can add more every day. I managed to log at least 30,000 steps everyday. My friend and I found a spot to randomly ride horses for €20 for an hour on the first day. We used AllTrails and found additional trails to hike in the valleys. We ran up to the Uchisar Castle in the mornings or ran the course of the balloons to get our exercise in to start the day at 6:30am. There apparently is a gym in town but it was not open.
The hot air balloon ride is a must. It was calm, quiet, cold, and peaceful. It was incredible.
The underground city was probably the coolest thing I have ever seen. The history lessons provided by Sefa for everything we saw were equally as magnificent.
The Turkish bath was everything we hoped for! So relaxing. The riverwalk was so peaceful and beautiful. Our group was lucky and got to experience Cappadocia during the off season but with a 20°F increase than the regular temperatures. It was the most perfect weather. Chilly in the mornings but 60°F and sunny during the day. (March 8-12)
Lastly, the dogs. If you love pups, you will love this trip. So many calm, beautiful dogs everywhere. Different ones would join us on our hikes. This made my day. Dogs make the world a better place.
Thank you, MBA! I can’t wait to book my next trip.
Wonderful first experience of a
Wonderful first experience of a MBA trip. Our guide Sefa was absolutely brilliant - knowledgeable, passionate about the region and extremely well organised. March was the perfect time to visit, not too busy and perfect t-shirt weather walking. Real highlights being the balloon flight and home cooked meal with a lovely family who welcomed us into their home. 4 stars rather than 5 as I would’ve liked some longer walks and there was more free time in the afternoons than anticipated. Overall would highly recommend and a big thank you to the brilliant Sefa for guiding us.

My friend and I recently
My friend and I recently returned from a this tour and I can't recommend it highly enough. The itinerary offered a great balance of cultural immersion and hiking. A special mention for our guide, Sefa, whose incredible knowledge and meticulous organisation made the trip. Sefa's passion for sharing the rich history and traditions of the region was inspiring and his attention to detail ensured that everything ran seamlessly from start to finish.
The sunrise hot air balloon experience was magical. Floating gently above the distinctive landscape as the first rays of sunlight painted the horizon is a memory we’ll cherish. It was a definite highlight of the trip.
The accommodation exceeded expectations, with the hotel offering quality and comfort. Beyond that, the warmth and friendliness of the Turkish people we met along the way left a lasting impression.
This tour was a perfect blend of exploration and leisure, expertly led by Sefa and backed by top-notch planning. I couldn’t be happier with the experience!

Fabulous Hiking Trip
I cannot give this trip enough praise. I flew to Istanbul for approx 36 hours and managed to see all the main sites.
I then flew to Cappadocia. All road transport for the whole trip is organised.
Sefa our guide was the best I have experienced, his attention to detail and knowledge was amazing. We all enjoyed his company.
The high lights - Ballon Flight, walking the Valleys, the views, underground city, Hammam, supper in a cave house and just getting up early to watch all the hot air Ballons fill the sky every morning. I believe we lucked out and had fabulous weather for March, the air was cold, but the sun was warm often hiking in a T-shirt.
The only downs- lots of tipping and the hotel, I would rate as good, it’s missing any really nice seating sharing areas, it has a roof terrace with floor cushions and a couple of chairs, but it could be better. Location excellent.
Fantastic trip
We had a fab time in Cappadocia made even better by the snow. Alper our guide was great and couldn’t do enough to help with any query or question that we had. The food was great, the hiking was great, couldn’t fault anything about the trip. We didn’t get to do the hot air balloon due to the weather but this gives us an excuse to return to Cappadocia in the future
A memorable New Year in Cappadocia!
This was a great trip with a good mix of "easy" hiking, cultural experiences and free time to explore Goreme. The landscape is stunning and being able to both hike and see it from above during the optional balloon trip meant that you had the opportunity to take it all in. Sefa was excellent and very knowledgeable - his passion for the area was evident. Highly recommended!

Uplifting adventure
I cannot recommend this trip highly enough. Sefa has put together a really lovely, gentle itinerary that nevertheless includes a considerable range of Cappadocia highlights. The hikes are indeed "easy" as advertised - the longest one was 7 or 8 km, and there were no major climbs, though I expect the terrain is a bit more challenging in snowy conditions. We had blue skies and sunshine every day, and enjoyed the beautiful colours in the rock formations. The food was excellent - we didn't have a single disappointing meal - and it was particularly nice to be supporting women's cooperatives. The cave hotel had underfloor heating and hot showers, and a great view from the breakfast room / rooftop terrace. This would be a really good first MBA trip, so if you're not sure if adventure holidays are for you, give this one a go!
Amazing few days
This was a fantastic trip, with a brilliant guide Sefa, who was insightful and lots of fun.
The itinerary is really well thought out, with just enough downtime, minimal bus time, and lots of points of difference.
The hiking is pretty leisurely but that gives more time to soak up the incredible views and the history. Getting to go on a balloon at sunrise was the icing on the cake. I could not recommend this trip more - with the added bonus that our little group gelled so well. A great way to spend four days.
Balloons were amazing!
The scenery is amazing and like nothing I have seen before - there are cave houses everywhere, and outside of the museum, a lot are empty, so you can explore for yourself. The balloon ride was fantastic. This is an optional extra, but well worth it. We were lucky to have a clear sunrise. The hiking was significantly easier than expected - so if you are a hiker and you're doing this in winter, bring extra layers - the slow pace means you won't warm up. There wasn't any snow, but it was below freezing every day. Despite being advertised, we didn't actually stay in a cave, which was a huge disappointment as it was one of the main things we wanted to do. Photos attached show the dreary accommodation (clearly not a cave), and the terrace covered in wire.
Thanks a lot for taking the time to review your recent trip to Cappadocia. We are glad that you found the scenery amazing and that you enjoyed exploring the area.
We sincerely apologise for accommodation issue that your group experienced, and we would like to confirm that our groups will stay at the usual property, the Taskonak Hotel in the future.
I understand our customer experience team have been in touch with you directly to resolve this.

Unbelievably beautiful
I can’t give this trip any less than 5 stars. Sefa our guide was amazing & the landscapes were just so phenomenal. The itinerary had a good mix of walks, food & cultural activities - we also usually had at least a few hours of free time each day in the afternoon.
The hiking is definitely “easy”. The hikes were beautiful & practically deserted but I would have loved longer routes. The pacing was also quite slow/lots of breaks. In our group a few of us went out on longer hikes during free time/breaks which I’d definitely recommend. Doing the 2nd half of the Pigeon valley was an absolute highlight.
I would definitely recommend this trip & have already booked another with MBA.
Awesome Experience
Great trip with amazing and beautiful scenery. It's not the most energetic trip in relation to hiking but there's loads to see and do. Our guide Sefa was brilliant and really knowledgeable about the local area. The hot air balloon is a must do!! It was an amazing experience over breathtaking scenery. You really get a good insight into the local culture on this trip that you'd miss out on doing it solo. The group I had was friendly and fun and the food was awesome. Doing it over New Year made it even better as Göreme really knows how to celebrate with epic firework displays!
New Year in Cappadocia
A magical experience immersing yourself in to the variety of landscapes Cappadocia has to offer.
Just fantastic
The itinerary is just what I have been looking for; gives a great insight to what it is to be a “Cappadocian”. This tour keeps you away from the commercialised tourists. The guide is passionate about what he does and goes to great lengths to to make it a fantastic tour for all in the group.

A trip to remember!
This was an absolutely fantastic trip! Each hike took us to a different (but equally beautiful and remarkable) landscape and away from any crowds. We were also lucky enough to have the chance to go hot air ballooning which was lovely and provided another perspective on some of the places that we had seen from the ground.
The guide, Sefa, was outstanding. His genuine passion for and extensive knowledge of the region's geology and history was clear and he was always happy to answer any questions or offer any other support that we might have required.
The food was also delicious and at times it felt like we were on a food tour which was an unexpected bonus!
We fitted a lot into a relatively short trip (although it never felt rushed and there was plenty of free time) so that it felt like we had been away for much longer.
The weather this year has apparently been unseasonably warm so we saw very little snow, but I don't feel that had any impact on the trip, It actually allowed us to appreciate the colours and layers of the rocks that we might not have been able to see in snowier conditions.
Overall I can't speak highly enough of the trip - I would recommend it without hesitation and wish that I could relive the whole experience.

Just fabulous
From start to finish this was an awesome trip! Extremely well organised, everything ran smoothly, from airport pickup to drop off. Nothing was too much bother. Sefa, our guide, was absolutely brilliant! Kind, funny, helpful, informative and patient. Just perfect, as were my fellow travellers. The hiking was easy and at a good pace for photo stops, it was beautiful and varied. There so much to see. The hot air balloon was fabulous, again really well organised. The food is delicious, the local people really friendly and if you like sparkly things the shopping in Goreme will tick that box too! The trip fits a lot in to a few days but there's plenty of time to relax aswell. I'll certainly be recommending this trip to lots of friends!

Fantastic Trip
We had the most amazing time on this trip, Cappadocia completely lived up to the hype and was so beautiful (with or without snow!) Our guide was brilliant, it was our first group trip and I was a little bit apprehensive but within minutes of meeting Sefa I knew it was going to be a great trip. He was so friendly and knowledgeable and made sure the whole group were having a great time throughout. The scenery is absolutely incredible and the trip was really reasonably priced for how much was included. All the food we had was delicious and the hotel was lovely. Thanks much better adventures and Sefa for an unforgettable trip!
Amazing trip
The trip was absolutely amazing. It was perfect mix of hiking (otherworldly scenery), sightseeing (so interesting) and great food. The hot balloons were once in a lifetime experience that I would recommend to anyone. Sefa was such a great guide, very knowledgeable and passionate about his work making the whole trip flawless.

WOW
This was a well rounded trip, full of different experiences. Despite the leisurely starts, it was fully packed with hiking, culture, geology and amazing food as well as free time to shop! We had a small group of just 4 and an exceptional guide, Sefa who was very knowledgeable and obviously enjoyed the hiking and geology even though he’d probably done the walks numerous times. The 3 hikes were very varied with dramatic out of this world scenery and a few surprises on route. As an extra bonus, being winter, we felt we had it all to ourselves. Despite no snow, we were very lucky with the weather and got to go on the balloons as well as see them from the hotel the following 2 mornings. In addition there was the vast underground city complex, Turkish bath and dinner in a turkish home. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this trip.

History, culture and food
Great trip to learn about the history and culture of the area combined with short hikes in amazing scenery. Sefa, our guide, was outstanding - really knowledgeable and great fun.
Beautiful Cappadocia and a great guide
Really loved Cappadocia, nice group and excellent guide. Shame about no snow or hot air balloons — it would be useful to adjust expectations for the next group and tweak the kit list.

We do make an overall estimate across all our customers separately, but as we don’t book flights, have customers from all corners of the world, and no way of reliably knowing their travel plans, we simply can’t include an individual number in the figure on display here. We’ve got a goal to fix that, so that when you book, there is a way to measure and mitigate the carbon emitted by your flight too.
But what does the number mean?
Yep, hard to picture eh? To give you an idea:
- Driving 1000 miles/1609km would be approximately 281kg of CO2 in an average car (or 140.5kg per person, if there were two of you in it).
- A return economy class flight between London and New York would be approximately 1619kg (1.66 tonnes) per person.
- 10 trees in a temperate forest are estimated to remove approximately 250kg of CO2 from the air in a period of 5-10 years.
What are we doing about it?
Our trips are relatively low-carbon by design, and we're working with all our hosts to develop long term carbon reduction plans. We partner with the World Land Trust to ensure this trip achieves Net-Zero emissions. We also support their Buy an Acre programme, helping local communities to buy and protect natural habitats in perpetuity, ensuring the protection of the reserve and its wildlife.
Want to know more?
Amazingly, no international travel company has ever publicly published their carbon measurements before, as far as we know. We believe that must change, quickly. So we’re openly sharing the method we used in the hope that other companies will be able to more easily follow suit and build on what we've done so far. You'll find it all here.
The local tap water in Turkey is generally not safe to drink, and heavy chlorination used to purify the water often makes the taste unpalatable. Please bring along your own reusable water bottles (at least 1.5 liters) to fill up to avoid buying single-use plastic bottles and bring water purification tablets or a different purification system for extra safety. Overall, the choice of the route, the hiking distance, and elevation is always decided by your local guide, taking into consideration the group's fitness and the weather conditions, so small alterations can always take place with your safety in mind. It rarely snows every day in Cappadocia between November and March, so it should still be easy to hike, explore, and drive around without major disruptions.
Riding in a hot air balloon above Cappadocia is one of the most magical experiences you can have. Balloon flights operate all year round, but are always weather dependent: snowy, icy, or windy conditions can increase the chance of it being canceled – so for this reason, we haven't included it in the trip. Please let your host know when booking if you are interested in joining a hot air balloon flight and request this add-on as an Optional Extra upon reservation and/or ideally before the trip starts. Your host will be able to provide all the details and exact pricing. Budget approximately €200-250 per person for the flight, which you'll pay locally to your host should the activity go ahead. Please note that if you are traveling on one of the winter departures, the cost for a hot air balloon flight is typically much lower than compared to the busy summer months. Given that you'll stay in Cappadocia for a few days, the chances that you get to fly are higher, but never 100% guaranteed. Remember, you’ll need to wrap up very warm if flying between November and March.
Most flights from Europe connect to Kayseri Airport via Istanbul, so it's easy to plan an overnight stay or a few extra days in the city if you have the time. Occasionally, it may be cheaper to consider separate tickets with different airlines (e.g., Wizz Air or other low-cost airlines from the UK to Istanbul, then internal flights between Istanbul and Kayseri Airport with Turkish Airlines or others).

For customers joining from other international locations, we recommend checking the official travel advice issued by your country of residence, as guidance may vary.
We recommend checking out the country-specific information and also talking to a travel nurse.
