We invite you to explore the Strandja mountains in Bulgaria with us! Strandja Nature Park is Bulgaria’s largest and most varied protected area. Because it was locked up in a border zone for 50 years during communism, it is now one of those few remaining wilderness places in Europe where time has stood still. We are working closely with the Bulgarian Biodiversity Foundation to develop responsible tourism to this area that helps to protect this biodiversity hotspot and supports sustainable development of the small villages.
During our flexible walking holidays to Strandja you can explore a wide variety of landscapes. In the West of Strandja you will find impressive karst landscapes with stunning views and crystal clear springs and streams. In the middle of the park you can walk in old oak and beech forests, and pristine river valleys. In the east you will discover beautiful unspoilt coastline, a completely natural river estuary, and quiet beaches.
We work with small local guesthouses, B&Bs and family owned hotels. We encourage the use of local products such as honey and locally produced dairy and meat products. We reduce waste and recycle and compost waste as much as possible. We use ethical banks for our business and donate to the Bulgarian Biodiversity Foundation for every guest. We also offset flights to Strandja through Atmosfair. All their projects meet the strict Gold Standard and benefit third world countries.
