Day 2

The road to Tal

Trekking in Nepal. Photo: GettyImages-507000894
Driving
9-10hrs

This morning you'll start the long journey to Besisahar, driving through lush river valleys, stunning Himalayan scenery, and terraced farmland. Stop for lunch, then switch to a local jeep and continue to the remote village of Tal, the starting point of your trek. Cross beautiful, rugged terrain with steep ravines, streams, waterfalls, and a bunch of tea houses, then check into a local guesthouse and rest ahead of the epic adventure starting tomorrow.

Day 3

First steps on the circuit

Hiking
5hrs · 8mi · 3953ft up · 1476ft down

Follow a rough track out of town and along the Marshyangdi River. Walk through the narrow valley, following the jeep track which passes through the village of Dharapani, where your permits will be checked. Continue hiking through the forest, gaining altitude gradually, then cross into the insanely beautiful Bagarchap Valley and spend the night in your first traditional Himalayan teahouse at 7,087 ft.

Day 4

Bagarchap to Chame

Chame, Nepal. Photo: GettyImages-903469380
Hiking
6hrs · 9mi · 4019ft up · 1394ft down

Hike past a small waterfall and follow a steep uphill trail through a beautiful mixed forest of rhododendron and oak, gaining more than 1,312 ft elevation in a single stretch. On reaching Timang village, enjoy a well-deserved lunch and sip hot tea or coffee, while admiring the mesmerizing views of Manaslu Peak from a panoramic terrace. Hit the trail again and ascend gently, passing the beautiful villages of Thanchok and Koto and finally reach Chame (8,760 ft), your base for tonight.

Day 5

Chame to Upper Pisang

Pisang, Nepal. Photo: GettyImages-1048391670
Hiking
6hrs · 11mi · 3202ft up · 971ft down

Things get serious today, as you'll climb above 9,800 ft. Cross the Marshyangdi River and walk past a chorten (shrine), then hike an undulating forest trail to Bhratang. A beautiful waterfall appears on the other side of the mountain as you change direction. Cross the river once again, and ascend to Dhikur Pokhari for lunch. To your right stands Swargadwari, a huge bare rock formation which is believed to be the path to Swarga (heaven). As you trek on, the valley becomes wide and vegetation sparse. End the day in the small village of Pisang at 10,800 ft.

Day 6

Upper Pisang to Manang

Manang, Nepal. Photo: iStock-1135164844
Hiking
7hrs · 11mi · 3199ft up · 2477ft down

Set off hiking through a lush zone of yak pastures and crop fields, stopping for photos at a remote Tibetan monastery. Ascend on a winding path to the remote village of Ghyaru. From here onwards, the trail rolls through arid landscapes all the way to Ngawal. Stop for lunch, then continue on to Manang (11,614 ft), one of the largest villages on the circuit. Be sure to listen out for the local Manangi language, unwritten and dangerously close to extinction.

Day 7

Acclimatization day

Gangapurna Lake, Nepal. Photo: GettyImages-1094454240

Spend the day acclimatizing to the altitude. Enjoy a cup of smoky chai in Manangi town and take a leisurely walk through the old alleys, exploring the traditional stone-thatched houses with intricate wooden windows and prayer flags flapping in the air. If you are feeling energetic, take an optional walk to Gangapurna Lake, or visit the Himalayan Rescue Association post to see how they're saving lives across some of the most challenging terrain in the world.

Day 8

Manang to Sri Kharka

Manang Valley, Nepal.
Hiking
5hrs · 5mi · 1444ft up · 469ft down

Today you'll hike along a rarely used and completely idyllic stretch of trail as you climb to Sri Kharka. Start off hiking through barley and buckwheat fields and across Thorang Khola River via a suspension bridge. Continue with a gentle ascent on a wide trail through juniper forest and meadows to Khangsar, the last village in the area. You will notice the effect of the low oxygen level in your body while climbing, but a slow gradual ascent will make the going manageable. Reach Sri Kharka (12,730 ft), tuck into a well-deserved hot meal and enjoy the serenity of the mountains as you prepare to see one of the great wonders of the world tomorrow.

Day 9

Tilicho Base Camp

Tilicho Base Camp, Nepal. Photo: GettyImages-1149200661
Hiking
5hrs · 4mi · 1312ft up · 459ft down

Follow the trail alongside the stunning views of Annapurna II and Gangapurna, crossing a couple of streams en route using high suspension bridges that will pump up the adrenaline. Tackle an exposed rocky slope to reach Tilicho Base Camp at 13,615 ft. Rest up for the afternoon, then enjoy a high-altitude night sky chock full of stars. Please note, it's possible that the trail to base camp may be closed or disrupted during winter (January to March), and sometimes even in the peak season. Your guide will decide whether to continue or skip this section, based on the local weather conditions.

Day 10

Tilicho Lake

Tilicho Lake, Nepal. Photo: GettyImages-1130967866
Hiking
7hrs · 9mi · 3215ft up · 4068ft down

Wake up early today and get your headlamp on, to start hiking along a trail that gently climbs up the hillside. Tackle a steep ascent to reach the pass, from where the trail levels up all the way to Tilicho Lake (16,141 ft). Take time to explore one of the highest and most beautiful lakes in the world. Hike back to Base Camp for breakfast, and when you're ready, hike back down to Siri Kharka (12,730 ft) to relax in your teahouse – you’ve earned it.

Day 11

The trail to Yak Kharka

Hiking
6-7hrs · 7mi · 2493ft up · 1706ft down

Ascend gently to Old Khangsar, overlooking the new Khangsar village. See the ruins of the abandoned settlement with a stunning backdrop of towering peaks and the Manang Valley. Climb up gently past pastures and herds, eyes peeled for mighty yaks. As the trail reaches the ridgeline, descend to the Thorang Khola River and join the Annapurna Circuit route again, following the trail as it winds through some truly awesome scenery on the way to tonight's destination, the village of Yak Kharka (13,287 ft).

Day 12

Prelude to the big one

To Thorung Phedi Base Camp, Nepal. Photo: Customer/Samuel Brown
Hiking
4-5hrs · 4mi · 1926ft up · 276ft down

The trail to Thorang Phedi is similar to the one you've walked a few days back – however, due to the altitude, you may notice the pace is slower and the air much thinner. Ascend gently, passing by Ledar village along a narrow and dry path, then cross the Thorang Khola River to reach Thorang Phedi Base Camp (14,600 ft) early afternoon. Rest up for a big day tomorrow – you’ll need it.

Day 13

To Muktinath via the Thorong La pass

Thorong La Pass, Nepal. Photo: GettyImages-1149200669
Hiking
10-12hrs · 11mi · 3215ft up · 5407ft down

The big one! Start the day around 4:00 AM and navigate a steep uphill stretch to Thorong High Camp, the last settlement before the highest point of this trek. Cross the Thorang Khola River one final time and continue with a gradual but steady ascent all the way to Thorong La (17,769 ft), the highest navigable pass in the world. Take a moment to celebrate your epic achievement as you soak in some of the best views of the whole circuit, including the high desert mountains along the Kaligandaki Valley – a perfect opportunity for some amazing photos. Begin your descent to Muktinath (12,303 ft) and experience the serene Vishnu temple, holy to both Hindus and Buddhists and the perfect place to enjoy the tranquility of the mountains.

Day 14

Descend to Jomsom

Hiking
9-10hrs · 11mi · 876ft up · 4252ft down

Set off on a downhill path to Kagbeni, and follow the banks of the Kali Gandaki River as it crosses through the deepest canyon on earth. Take in the magnificent views of Mount Annapurna and Dhaulagiri and then spend the night at a teahouse in Jomsom, gateway to an ancient trade route that once spanned the Himalayas.

Day 15

Fly to Pokhara

Fly over the Himalayas to the lakeside town of Pokhara and check into your hotel near the lake. (Please note, flights from Jomsom don't operate over winter – so if you're traveling between mid-November and mid-February you'll drive instead, which takes approximately 7-8 hours). Time permitting, head out to explore the picturesque lakeside promenade. Celebrate the end of the epic Annapurna Circuit trek with your group in one of the cozy waterfront bars or restaurants – you've earned it!

Day 16

Return to Kathmandu

Kathmandu, Nepal. Photo: GettyImages-894593212
Driving
7-8hrs

Rise early and take a bus through the mountains and back to Kathmandu (approximately 7-8 hours, depending on traffic). Spend some free time exploring the city.

If you’d prefer to avoid the drive, you can upgrade to a domestic flight from Pokhara to Kathmandu. This can be arranged and paid for locally through your host. See the FAQ for information on flight safety in Nepal.

Day 17

Your final day in Nepal

What is the food like?

Traditional Nepalese dhal bhat. Photo: GettyImages-655381736

Breakfast is usually either hot oatmeal, muesli or Tibetan bread served with an omelet or boiled eggs. The menus in the teahouses are very similar at every stop and there will usually be a choice of traditional Nepalese dhal bhat (a mixed plate of lentils, rice, vegetables and pickles – delicious and healthy!), momos (Nepalese dumplings), mixed noodles, pasta and even pizza. Although meat is available at some teahouses, we suggest you ask your guide for their advice, as it tends to depend on how far it has traveled as to whether it is a safe option.

Dairy-free, vegan or vegetarian diets can be catered for while trekking although meals may get a bit repetitive – dhal bhat will likely be your go-to staple. Gluten-free/celiac diets are tricky to cater for on teahouse treks (beware that powdered soups and seasonings used often contain gluten, and cooking oil is commonly reused and may cause cross-contamination). Please explain your dietary requirements to your guide so that they can assist when ordering, and bringing along some extra food/snacks is advisable.

What is the accommodation like?

Hotel Holy Himalaya. Photo: Host
Kathmandu

On your first and last nights, you’ll stay in a centrally located tourist hotel in Kathmandu's Thamel area on a twin-share basis, with en-suite bathrooms, air conditioning and WiFi. The hotel is located in the heart of Thamel, close to the main shopping area and the heritage sites.

Annapurna Circuit

During the trek you'll stay in traditional teahouses. These are simple mountain lodges offering basic but welcoming lodging along the trekking routes. The higher you go, the more rustic the facilities become — and the pricier the snacks.

Rooms are typically twin-share, or occasionally triple-share and have simple beds, a mattress and pillow, but no heating — so a warm sleeping bag is essential. Earplugs are handy too, as sound tends to travel.

Bathrooms are shared, with one or two basic toilets — sometimes outside — ranging from squat-style to seated. Toilet paper is not provided, so bring your own. Most teahouses sell essentials such as toilet paper, tissues, soap, shampoo and snacks.

Some lodges offer hot showers for a small fee — these might be solar or gas-powered, or simply a bucket of hot water. All teahouses have electricity, usually solar-powered, though it can be patchy. Lighting may be too dim to read by, so bring a headlamp. Charging is typically available in the dining area for a small fee per device. Many lodges offer Wi-Fi, but it’s not always reliable.

Communal dining rooms are the cozy heart of the teahouse — a spot to gather, play cards or warm up with a hot drink. They’re typically colorful spaces, often decorated with traditional rugs and warmed by a central stove. Above 10,000ft, some lodges may not use stoves due to environmental rules.

Pokhara

On your night in Pokhara you'll stay in a hotel near the lake, close enough to all the action but still in a quiet spot.

Upgrades

For solo travellers looking for their own space, an optional private room can be booked for an extra charge, see Optional Extras for the price. This is only applicable to the nights spent in hotels and is subject to availability. Please request this at the time of booking.

There are 3 different seasons for trekking in Nepal:

Winter (Dec-Feb): Despite being seen as ‘off-season’ this is often the best time to trek in Nepal. The nights can be very cold (down to -4ºF) but the trails are quieter and the mountain views are often at their best due to the clear sunny skies.

Pre-Monsoon/Spring (Mar-May): Temperatures rise significantly in spring and flowers are in full bloom in the lower areas. Although it can still drop below freezing at night, the daytime temperatures tend to sit between 50-59ºF.

Post-Monsoon/Fall (Sep-Nov): This is the most popular time to trek in Nepal with generally sunny and mild days. It can get cold and windy at higher altitudes, however the skies are usually clear.

Of course, mountain weather is notoriously hard to predict and snow can be expected on any trip so come prepared.

As the Annapurna Circuit has wide trails, and much of it sits in a rain shadow, the summer months of June-August are still good for trekking. These months are a great time to have the trails almost entirely to yourself.

Unforgettable Trek – Annapurna Circuit & Tilicho Lake

I recently returned from the Annapurna Circuit with Much Better Adventure (MBA), and I am still buzzing from the experience. The views of the Annapurna range were absolutely breathtaking, and the group dynamic was fantastic—we had a blast from start to finish. The Team: Excellence in Action The real stars of this journey were the guides from Freedom Adventure (MBA’s local partner). They didn't just lead us; they cared for us, motivated us, and ensured our safety every step of the way. The service was top-tier. I want to give a special shout-out to our incredible guides: Sanjeet (Lead Guide): His knowledge of Nepal’s history and the mountains is truly profound. Dilliram (Assistant Guide): The master of pacing. He kept us moving at exactly the right speed to manage the journey. Kunga (Assistant Guide): A constant source of positivity! He kept spirits high and monitored the middle of the group perfectly. Mohan (Assistant Guide): Our guardian at the back. He was always there when things got challenging or the terrain got technical. The Trek: Highs and Lows The hiking itself was a great mix—some days were relatively easy strolls, while others were physically demanding and pushed us to our limits. It was the perfect challenge for any mountain lover. Areas for Improvement (Information Accuracy) While the on-the-ground experience was 10/10, I feel Much Better Adventure needs to update their trip documentation. There were several significant discrepancies: Data Accuracy: The total kilometers and elevation gain provided in the itinerary did not align with the actual trek. Difficulty Transparency: There was no mention of the technical difficulty of the Tilicho Lake section, which I found more challenging than the actual Pass crossing. Safety Info: The briefing lacked information regarding landslide areas, which are a significant part of the route. Final Verdict Despite the minor communication issues from the booking side, the actual experience was life-changing. If you want a trek where you feel supported by world-class professionals while surrounded by the world's most beautiful peaks, this is it. Thank you to the whole team for a truly great experience!

Amazing trek led by a phenomenal team

This trek was amazing and I cannot give enough praise to our fantastic head guide Tika and his assistant guides Resam, Birdhoj and Nir, who went out of their way to ensure we all had the best experience, ensuring our comfort and safety throughout. Tika was so diligent in checking our water and food intake and to regularly check in to see if we were feeling well and happy. It was clear to see how passionate and professional Tika is about his role, never compromising our safety and when snowfall prevented our trek to Tilicho Lake, he thoughtfully altered the schedule to make sure we could reach Thorong La together. I was a little apprehensive about being the oldest in the group but I needn't have worried as everyone was so nice, supportive and great fun. The steep ascents were definitely a breathing challenge but the wonderfully intuitive Birdhoj paced me slowly and encouraged me to keep going. What an amazing young man he is. Thank you to everyone for making this such a memorable trip; to MBA, Freedom Adventures, Tika, Resam, Birdhoj and Nir and to all the phenomenal porters, Sanosh, Min, Josis, Sakti and Bhumi who were always ready with a smile and a high-five, and of course, to my wonderful team mates, who I was so lucky to share this experience with.

What an incredible trip!

I had an amazing experience with MBA. From start to finish everything was so slick and taken care of which takes a lot of worry away when travelling somewhere new and remote. The itinerary was incredible yet everything was done at a a pace that made you appreciate it and nothing felt rushed. The team supporting us led by Tika were phenomenal. Tika was very supportive, and so were the assistant guides Resam, Birdhoj. I can’t thank them and the team of porters enough as they made the week really really special and the trip one to remember for a long time!

George J.(April 2026)
Fantastic trek, fantastic guide team

The Annapurna Circuit with MBA was incredible. Freedom Adventures had everything meticulously organised from start to finish, which was really reassuring going into such a big adventure! It's a challenging trek, made even more challenging by the amount of snow we got, but the guide team handled it brilliantly and adapted the itinerary sensibly. Our lead guide Tika and assistant guides Birdhoj, Resam and Nir were outstanding - they put genuine care into everything they did, and took the safety and enjoyment of the group under their wings. Tika especially was amazing at picking up on every risk, every headache, every food that we should avoid along the way! All of the supporting staff - Sanosh, Min, Josis, Sakti and Bhumi were fantastic too, even coming back along the trail to offer extra help carrying day bags when people were unwell or feeling the altitude. The whole team - guides, supporting staff and fellow customers were a lot of fun to spend two weeks with. We couldn't have asked for a better group! We would definitely recommend MBA/Freedom to any friends looking for a big mountain adventure in Nepal. Ellie & George

Incredible tour led by an incredible team

A super challenging but rewarding fortnight in the Himalayas with some of the best views I’ve ever seen. Our team of guides in particular made the experience what it was, with the leader, Tika and the assistants Resham, Birdhoj and Nir all deserving of a massive shout-out. They were motivational, informative and we trusted that even when we had to take a detour due to poor weather, the right decision was being made for our safety and to preserve the rest of the itinerary as much as possible. Our whole group were sorry to leave the team at the end. All in all, a huge recommend, and my wife and I are already looking into other circuits in Nepal to try and capture the same magic.

John S.(April 2026)
Exceeded expectations

From the moment we were picked up in Kathmandu we were looked after so well, every detail was considered and expertly arranged. Our support team, especially Tika but also his assistants Resam and Birdhoj, couldn’t do enough for us and genuinely cared about giving us the best experience. They passionately cared about us, ensuring that we had the best experience but always putting safety first. Our itinerary had to change when snow prevented us reaching Timlicho Lake, but the new plan was quickly explained and fully understood. The trek and scenery exceeded my expectations, which were already high. The biggest surprise was the camaraderie in the group. I was slightly older than most and didn’t expect to experience such amazing relationships with so many like minded people. It was totally incredible, in every single way. Thank you to everyone, the group, MBA, Freedom Adventures but mainly Tika, Resam and Birdhoj!

An unforgettable Experience

I joined the Annapurna Circuit with Much Better Adventures and honestly, it exceeded all expectations.

From start to finish, everything was incredibly well organised, but what really made this trip special were the people. Our lead guide Pujan, supported by Ananta and Chiring, as well as the amazing support team Raju, Bal, Sujan, Deepak and Mohan were absolutely outstanding.

Their mountain expertise, constant check-ins and daily oxygen level monitoring made me feel safe and well looked after at all times. Especially at higher altitudes.

But beyond that, they truly brought the experience to life. They shared so much about Nepalese culture, taught us local card games, kept spirits high on the tougher days and were always there with patience, humour and encouragement. They didn’t just guide us through the mountains, they made us feel connected to Nepal.

The itinerary itself was perfectly paced, allowing proper acclimatisation while still feeling like an adventure every single day. From lush valleys to high alpine deserts and crossing the Thorong La Pass, every stage felt unique and unforgettable.

What I appreciated most was the balance between challenge and support. You are pushed just enough, but always feel safe and part of a strong group.

If you’re considering trekking in Nepal, I can highly recommend Much Better Adventures.

Best Trip I've Ever Taken!!!

This trip was hands down the best experience of my life, and I would encourage anyone to go ahead and book it. You won't be disappointed!!

The scenery on the Annapurna Circuit is out of this world, with each day seemingly managing to top the last. I came away with so many great memories, and even more photographs!

The tea houses were cosy, clean and warm, with each one we stayed in offering free wifi and charging. They also all offered a great selection of food at very reasonable prices. I was concerned before the trip that the diet would be limited, but this wasn't the case at all.

The trekking was very manageable and totally achievable for anyone with moderate-good fitness. We all walk at different paces, and the guides did a great job of ensuring no-one got left behind (also great if you want to stop and take plenty of photos).

Everything about this trip was organised to perfection, and I just want to say a huge thank you to our lead guide Pujan, and assistant guides Ananta and Chiring. You all worked tirelessly to make the trip as special as it was. Your expert knowledge kept us safe, informed, and entertained throughout. Also a massive shoutout to our superhuman porters Raju, Bal, Sujan, Deepak and Mohan. These guys carried our bags over some insane terrain, and still found the energy to show off their dance moves at the end of the day!

Lastly I wanted to mention the people you'll meet on this trip. As a solo traveller I had no idea what to expect, but the friendship and camaraderie that developed between the 8 other travellers truly made the experience unforgettable.

I can't recommend this trip enough!!!

An unforgettable adventure

I can’t recommend the Annapurna circuit trek with Much Better Adventures highly enough—it was genuinely one of the most unforgettable experiences of my life.

From the very beginning, everything was handled with professionalism and care. The communication before the trip was clear and reassuring, and once we arrived in Nepal, the team made us feel completely at ease. Every detail—from permits to accommodation and meals—was seamlessly organized, which allowed us to fully focus on the journey itself.

The trek is, of course, breathtaking. Walking through lush forests, traditional villages, and gradually ascending into the dramatic Himalayan landscape is something that’s hard to put into words. Reaching Thorong La Pass surrounded by towering peaks felt surreal—an emotional and deeply rewarding moment I’ll never forget.

What truly set Much Better Adventures apart, though, was the people. The guides ( Pujan, Ananta and Chiring) were exceptional: knowledgeable, attentive, and genuinely passionate about what they do. They struck the perfect balance between professionalism and friendliness, always keeping us safe while also making the experience fun and culturally enriching. Our guide shared insights about local traditions, mountains, and daily life that added so much depth to the trek. Not to mention the incredible porters Raju,Bal,sujan,Deepak and Mohan who carried all our luggage throughout the trip and taught us some very memorable Nepalese dancing!

The pacing of the trek was spot-on, giving us enough time to acclimatize and enjoy the surroundings without feeling rushed. The team constantly checked in on how everyone was feeling, which made a big difference, especially at higher altitudes.

I also appreciated the strong sense of camaraderie they fostered within the group. By the end of the trek, it didn’t feel like a tour—it felt like a shared adventure with friends.

If you’re considering trekking the annapurna circuit, I wholeheartedly recommend going with Much Better Adventures. They don’t just guide you through the mountains—they elevate the entire experience into something truly special.

Annapurna Circuit - March 2026

An unforgettable experience trekking the Annapurna circuit in the Himalaya's. 145km over 12 days, including the Thorong La Pass (5416m). The chaos of Kathmandu and beauty of Pokhara were excellent bookends to the trip.

The hike itinerary was well thought out, with each day's schedule providing plenty of time for photos and rest stops to catch beath in the higher altitude.

The guide team were amazing - providing '25hr service', always with a smile. They shared their knowledge of the mountains and history of Nepal, and were never shy to demonstrate their dancing to traditional Nepali music.

Much Better Adventures provided all the information required, and were excellent at addressing questions - particularly during the geopolitical troubles.

Jaw dropping, humbling, and brilliant!

One of the best experiences of my life. I have wanted to visit Nepal and trek amongst the Himalayas for many years - and it was everything I hoped for and more.

The scenery, mountains, landscapes, huge skies, vistas - all of it jaw dropping and at times somewhat surreal. It was incredibly powerful and moving to feel a part of such a special place, even if for a moment.

What made it even more special were the guides that took us all safely and successfully all the way through this adventure - Kevin, Sabin, Bhavishya and Lakpa - thank you for being outstanding hosts, leaders, and friends - your level of professionalism, kindness, knowledge, and expertise knows no bounds and we were all truly blessed to be under your care. Thanks also to the superhuman porters Susan, Kam, Soon, Omar, and Bodnar that ensured our adventure was possible. We were so well cared for and acclimatised that it'll be difficult to go back to self guided trekking?!

The camaraderie within the group was excellent - it was a privilege to share such a tremendous adventure with a diverse and inspiring bunch of humans.

The adventure of a lifetime, that left me humbled, honoured, and desperate for more!

Met Every Expectation and Beyond

I had looked forward to going on this trip for such a long time that I thought there was no way it could meet my expectations let alone surpass them. Yet it did! The mountains were stunningly beautiful on a trip that was challenging, but also accessible. I can’t describe how special it felt to be there with the Himalayas every morning and evening — you’ll have to see for yourself!

I went as a lone traveler and loved each of my companions. Being there together and making new friends made the trip even more special.

Finally, I can’t say enough good things about our guides and iron men. Sunil, Ujjwal, Ananta, and Resam put so much effort into not only making sure the trip ran smoothly, but making sure we were all acclimatized and ready for the hardest days. The effort the entire team put in every day was incredibly clear and it helped make it a wonderful experience for all of us.

John T.(January 2026)
Dustyyyyyy…. .

Overall, a brilliant trip with a great guide and crew. Not easy but not hard so I would highly recommend the trip to any avid walker. Well worth any effort for the moments of tranquility and majestic views alone.

Be prepared for the dusty conditions over the winter dry season!

From a personal perspective, I like to escape modern life where I can. This was my 4th time in the Himalayas and each time I have seen modern day civilisation creep further into the mountains. Not that this is necessarily a bad thing if you need your daily wifi and connection to the outside world. For all but a few days in the middle of the trip, for me, at times it was harder to feel like a proper adventure, with a lot of walking on main roads, coach journeys and many of the group glued to the internet it felt less adventure and more of a tourist trip at times. having said that I still really enjoyed it a lot.

Fantastic Achievement
Fantastic Achievement

It’s hard to know where to start. This trip was everything I had hoped for and more. My partner and I are 70 and 69 and really wanted to visit the Annapurna region and challenge ourselves. The mountains and the scenery were stunning throughout. Every corner delivered another amazing view. Being amongst so many 8000 m peaks fulfilled a lifetimes ambition. On top of this the guides and the group we trekked with were superb. Kevin the lead guide worked well with his team and they were able to ensure that the trekking catered for all abilities. This enabled each individual to achieve their goals. Sabin, Bobisha and Lakpa made up the guiding team. They were so supportive and encouraging at all times we could not have done it without them. We were lucky to have amazing weather and this helped to enable us to reach Tilicho lake and Thourng pass. The trip was well designed with plenty of opportunities to acclimatise to the high altitudes. The final day was a change from the route stated in the details. This proved to be an excellent detour taking us away from the road and allowing brilliant views of the mountains. I would definitely recommend this trip.

Annapurna Circuit- Amazing
Annapurna Circuit- Amazing

The guiding team and Sherpas absolutely delivered. They all made the experience very worth while. When the going was tough with ice on the paths they came into their own as a team with safety the primary concern. Kevin was a great leader ably backed up by Sabin, Bobby and Laktpa. We would not have achieved this without their assistance and care to get us through, round and up to the higher points. They all showed great patience as our own progress was slow on the higher terrain. The tea houses, food and accommodation were incredible given the remoteness and height of their very existence. I’m in awe of the people who run them. Thanks to everyone for a great adventure.

Book it!!

I have nothing but positive comments to make regarding MBA who utilised Freedom adventures for this trekking holiday. I did the Annapurna circuit trek in November, and the organisation was second to none. Our guide - Sanjeet - was so knowledgeable, kind, smiley and supportive throughout. I felt totally safe that he had everything planned taking into account the weather, any made any changes as required checking on each member of the groups symptoms as we gained altitude. I asked him lots of questions throughout the trip, he not only knew the answers but was able to give detailed responses and educated me so much about Nepal, local culture, and also would make jokes and keep things light hearted which was needed on the longer more difficult days. The trek itself was absolutely incredible, we were lucky with clear skies and great views of himalayas throughout. It was freezing cold at night, although expected it did drop as low as - 20 degrees at times on the higher altitude hikes/overnight therefore be mindful when packing - as being too cold will likely ruin your trip. Lots of layers and a thin walled flask to add hot water too and pop in the sleeping bag works a treat. We had an assistant guide Manisha whose smile brightened up the room. She was such a hard worker and adaptable when one of our group members needed to decend due to AMS symptoms. Her English was extremely good and she made sure we were well looked after throughout the trip - she was also an incredible dancer and put us all to shame 😂. Annanta worked tirelessly throughout our trek, his dedication to his role and patience was admirable. He had a great smile and taught me a lot of Nepalese phrases. He led some days of our trekking and his pacing was perfect for the group. Nobu also stood out with his smile, kind nature, and ensured we were all looked after, his English was also great and he strived to ensure we were always fed and watered in a timely manner. He was an asset to the team. The porters were the backbone of the trip, Ajay, Mohan, Bikash, Raju, Amrit, Surya greeted us with smiles and high fives each time we completed our hikes. They taught me little bits of Nepali too and tried their best not to laugh at my poor attempts 😂. They never complained, were professional throughout and I have the absolute utmost respect for what they do. Taking into account the trekking becoming more difficult as we reached higher altitiudes, how they did that carrying 2 duffle bags each astounded me. It really felt like a trekking family after a few days, everyone got on so well and it was the group and team dynamics that made the trip extra special for me. I cannot thank freedom adventures and their staff enough for providing such an amazing trip.

My recent journey along the Annapurna Circuit was nothing short of extraordinary. From start to finish, the entire trek was incredibly well-organized, and I always felt safe and well looked after. Our guides were attentive, experienced, and clearly prioritized the wellbeing of every member of the group, which gave me complete peace of mind throughout the adventure.

The scenery along the route was simply breathtaking—constantly changing and always stunning. Every day brought new landscapes: lush forests, terraced fields, charming villages, and eventually the dramatic high-altitude terrain that the Himalayas are known for. It felt like walking through a living postcard.

One of the highlights was the chance to experience the local food and culture. These cultural touches made the journey even more meaningful, and whilst the menu along the way is the same you never got the same version of the food at each stop. I already miss the Dahl Bat!

The itinerary was thoughtfully designed, balancing challenging trekking days with enough rest and acclimatisation time to truly enjoy the experience. Each stage flowed seamlessly into the next, allowing us to fully appreciate the journey without ever feeling rushed.

Overall, this trek exceeded all my expectations. If you’re considering the Annapurna Circuit, I can’t recommend this experience highly enough—it’s safe, beautifully planned, and absolutely unforgettable!

The trip was great with

The trip was great with amazing weather and superb guides and porters. You only realise the importance of the team when they are faced with getting one of the guests to lower altitude. This was done without effecting the groups enjoyment of the expedition nor to the detriment of the person who unfortunately needed to leave the trip

Annapurna circuit

My friend Chelsea and I booked the Annapurna Circuit through ‘Much Better Adventures’ and it exceeded all of our expectations.

When we arrived in Nepal, we were introduced to our Lead Guide, Sanjeet, from Freedom Adventures. Sanjeet was warm, friendly and welcoming from day one and his knowledge about the Annapurna Ranges was exceptional.

Every single day, Sanjeet and the team of porters and assistant guides made us feel so supported, safe and calm in the mountains. They went above and beyond to ensure our safely was priority. The team organised everything from every single meal, accommodation, permits, flights, bus etc. The team made sure we didn’t have to worry about anythigg no except enjoying ourselves.

Every night after dinner, Sanjeet would share a ‘bedtime’ story which highlighted a lot of Nepalese history and culture. This was one of my favourite parts of the day.

Our assistant guides, Anante, Manisha and Nobu were an amazing asset to the team. They were friendly, kind and willing to help in every situation.

I would highly recommend booking through Freedom Adventures. I know I will be requesting Sanjeet and the team at Freedom Solutions when I book my next trek in Nepal.

I would highly recommend this

I would highly recommend this trip. Head guide Sanjeet was truly inspiring making sure we were safe and well prepared for a challenging trek at altitude. Assisted by Monisha and Nobu. Seeing porters Ajay Mohan Bikash Rahul Armit Surya carrying our kit every day was humbling. They were always there at our destination to give us a high five and a big smile as we came in. The organisation and pace of the trip was perfect.

A Remarkable Journey Through Snow and Stunning Landscapes

This journey was fantastic. From start to finish, it offered breathtaking views and unforgettable impressions that will stay with me for a long time. Even when we were surprised by a sudden snowstorm and had to face challenging conditions, everything remained perfectly organized. At every moment, I felt safe, well cared for, and in the best hands with Pujan, Dili, Rasham and Manisha whose calm guidance and professionalism made all the difference.

I would also like to express my thanks to the outstanding supporting staff Buhmi, Dipak, Susan, Lila, Sammer and Iswor whose dedication, kindness, and hard work ensured that this trip became such a remarkable experience.

What a trip in the Himalayas!!!

What a trip!! I had the most incredible time on my guided trek through the Annapurna Circuit. A fab first time to Nepal and first trip with MBA.

The route took us through multiple different types of landscapes, including the beautiful snowy mountains, traditional villages and plenty of suspension bridges! With stays in cosy teahouses and meeting the loveliest people en route, it was nothing short of amazing.

The team, led by Pujan, including Diliram, Resham and Manisha were outstanding. They were constantly on top of every need which definitely felt like a foreign concept to start with. The pacing, lead by Dili, was perfect and meant that we could adjust to the altitude and not get too out of breath. On top of all of this, they dealt with the weather issues we faced perfectly. Ensuring our safety of everything else and letting us be part of the decision making process so we still got the most out of the trip. I am so thankful to them, as our trip would have been nowhere near as FAB if they hadn't been there.

Another massive thanks to our porters: Lila, Bhumi, Dipak, Susan, Sammer and Iswor. I have no idea how they carry our bags and take on the circuit with such ease. They were constantly smiling and having them greet us on arrival at teahouses was such a treat after long days of walking. A highlight was seeing them just before the Thorong Pass as they cheered us on for that final push!

Prior to the trip I really didn't know what to expect but we ate so well throughout. There were at least a few options at the most basic tea houses, whilst others had multiple pages of food choices. We never went hungry!! Some of the tea houses were more basic than others but with our sleeping bags and the extra bedding sometimes provided, we were never cold in bed. I particularly liked that they all had 'dining room' spaces where we could mingle has a group, playing cards and chatting.

Overall, this trip was everything I'd hoped it would be and more. I was constantly in awe of the views and cannot stop telling people about it now that I'm home. If you're thinking about taking it on, I could not recommend it highly enough and hope you enjoy as much as our group did!!!

An Unforgettable Annapurna Circuit Adventure

Our guided trek through the Annapurna Circuit was nothing short of extraordinary. From start to finish, the experience exceeded every expectation, thanks to the outstanding leadership and dedication of the entire team.

Exceptional Team Leadership: The success of this journey was entirely due to the flawless coordination and professionalism of our leaders: Pujan, Diliram, Resham, and Manisha. Their ability to manage every detail—often behind the scenes—gave us complete peace of mind. Even during challenging weather conditions, their agile decision-making ensured our safety without us ever feeling the stress of those complexities. It was clear that their expertise and calm approach were the backbone of this adventure.

Warmth and Support from the Team and Porters: The friendliness and commitment of the entire crew were remarkable. Special thanks to our incredible porters: Lila, Bhumi, Dipak, Susan, Sammer, and Iswor. Their hard work and positive attitude made the trek so much more enjoyable. One suggestion for the future: it would be wonderful to involve these amazing individuals more in shared activities like evening dinners—they truly deserve to be part of those moments.

Safety and Comfort Throughout: Despite unpredictable weather and logistical challenges, we always felt completely safe. The team handled every situation with agility and professionalism, shielding us from any concerns and allowing us to focus on the beauty of the Himalayas.

Accommodation and Meals: The organization of lodging and meals was impeccable. Everything ran smoothly, and the food was far better than we ever expected—delicious and varied. Even with frequent power outages and other unforeseen events, Pujan and the team ensured that nothing disrupted our experience. Their resourcefulness turned potential obstacles into part of the adventure.

A Heartfelt Thank You: This trek was not just a journey; it was a life-changing experience made possible by an extraordinary team. To Pujan, Diliram, Resham, Manisha, Lila, Bhumi, Dipak, Susan, Sammer, and Iswor—thank you from the bottom of my heart for your dedication, kindness, and hard work. You gave us memories that will last a lifetime!

Adventures in the Himalayas

My first time in Nepal and my first trip with MBA, and it certainly won’t be my last!

This trek route takes you through incredible scenery with snowy mountains all around, through traditional villages, on suspension bridges over rivers, and ravines, past roaring waterfalls and so much more! We met with delightful locals along the way, who were always so friendly and welcoming.

Our team from Freedom Adventures led by Pujan with Dili, Resh and Manisha were professional, encouraging and always with a smile! Nothing was too much trouble. They paced the group perfectly always knowing how each of us was doing, and I particularly enjoyed chatting with each of them and learning about their country and their way of life.

When we were faced with challenging weather conditions the team adjusted our route and sorted everything out, whilst ensuring we were safe but also that we were able to complete the Thorong La pass, the highlight of the trek!

Our porters Lila, Bhumi, Dipak, Susan, Sammer, and Iswor were wonderful, carrying our bags so easily, always smiling and there to greet us when we arrived at our next stop.

The tea house accommodation is no frills but rooms are comfy, food is amazing and we had many great evenings sat around the wood burner drying socks, playing games and chatting!

If you are thinking of a trek in the Himalayas, I would definitely recommend this one!

An unforgettable Himalayan adventure

After years of dreaming about seeing the Himalayas up close, I finally decided to go big and book my very first trek in the Annapurna region. I’m so incredibly glad I did. It was unforgettable in every possible way, a true once-in-a-lifetime experience. Some memories feel permanently etched into my mind, especially the long line of headlamps slowly winding up the steep trail to Thorong Phedi High Camp and Thorong La, lighting up the early morning darkness and the starry sky.

Our team, led by Pujan with Dili, Resh and Manisha was exceptional. We couldn’t have asked for more supportive and professional guides. They were there for us 24/7, never without a smile on their faces or a word of encouragement. They deserve a special shout-out for dealing with critical weather conditions and fast-changing plans. But even in the uncertainty they kept morale high, made the right calls and we felt very safe and looked after the whole way through. And in the end… we all made it to Thorong La!

Some special thank-yous: to Pujan for bringing positivity and fun to every step, reminding us to take pictures and enjoy our holiday, and also for teaching us about Nepali culture; to Dili for being such a steady, calming presence and for pacing the team “slowly slowly” at high altitude so it felt surprisingly manageable all the way through; to Resh for always checking in and cracking jokes; to Manisha for her kindness and for helping me carefully pick out some extra gear when it was clear I wasn’t all that prepared for the rain/snow.

Our porters Lila, Bhumi, Dipak, Susan, Sammer, and Iswor were also incredible, carrying such heavy loads with ease, grace, and always getting to our next stop way ahead of us! Seeing them at the top of the pass, greeting us after a long effort, is one of my favorite memories from the trek :) A special shout-out to Iswor and Bhumi for stepping in and helping out after one of our guides had to leave to accompany a team member back to Kathmandu. I am sure they will make great guides one day :)

About the trek itself: it is very well paced and organized so that you have plenty of time to acclimatize, soak in the views and bond with the group! The teahouses are absolutely lovely and cozy (you just need to adapt a little, but don’t be scared!) and the food is simply amazing… if you are vegan or vegetarian, fret not! You will thrive in Nepal.

One piece of advice: do not underestimate the weather! Even when it’s peak trekking season, rain (and snow) may show up and when it rains, it RAINS. You do need proper waterproof gear. If you are in doubt about any of your gear, check in with your guide while in Kathmandu, they will know best! And yes, it’s true, you can buy pretty much anything there, so fret not :) Another tip: merino wool layers are a life saver for warmth but especially after many wears and many days without a shower, if you get what I mean.

If you are unsure whether to book this trek, let this be your sign to go ahead and do it! Even if you are little afraid (I sure was!). You will not regret it, this is the stuff of dreams for anyone who loves the mountains :) I would do it all again in a heartbeat and would recommend Freedom Adventures to anyone.

I will be back very soon, jam jam!

Cannot wait to come back!!

This was my first MBA trip and certainly will not be my last. I had an absolutely incredible time and couldn't have asked for a better guide/support team (Pujan, Diliram, Resham, Manisha, Lila, Bhumi, Dipak, Susan, Sammer, and Iswor).

Despite the challenging weather, our guides and support team kept the team morale high, and we had some great team bonding sessions around the teahouse stoves while drying our clothes/shoes. While I could definitely feel the effects of the altitude, Diliram knew exactly had to pace the group and we often stopped for water/snack breaks so none of the days felt overly difficult.

I'm already planning my next trip back to this amazing country and really couldn't recommend this trek more. Everyone in our group was so nice and I'm looking forward to my next MBA trip!

Annapurna Circuit

A fantastic trip with stunning scenery, memorable moments and excellent guides.

Nepal is a breath-taking country, with the landscapes and the friendliness of the people exceeding my expectations.

Freedom Adventures are very professional hosts. The level of care, attention and professionalism from our trekking team on the ground was outstanding. Our superb guides- Pujan, Diliram, Resham and Manisha- were available with constant support throughout the trip. They also handled some unprecedented difficulties caused by freak weather with calmness and professionalism, able to quickly change plans and ensure our group achieved Thorang La Pass. The porters- Lila, Bhumi, Dipak, Susan, Sammer and Iswor- were also incredible, adding cheery support to the team- particularly notable was them waiting at the top of the pass to cheer the team on for the last few hundred yards.

I would highly recommend this trip to anyone.

  • One note- Do not underestimate the packing list! You will need good quality hiking equipment- in particular a quality down jacket and quality waterproofs as the mountain weather can occasionally be challenging. If in doubt seek the guide's advice in Kathmandu.

Incredible adventure in the Himalayas with Freedom Adventures
Incredible adventure in the Himalayas with Freedom Adventures

What a fantastic trip!

Firstly, the whole Freedom Adventures team were unbelievable from start to finish - genuinely one of the best tour companies I've ever used. From pre-trip comms to re-adjusting our itinerary after some freak weather storms, the team were proactive, professional, encouraging and organised, ensuring we were kept safe and had a great time despite the challenges. Our guides - Pujan, Diliram, Resham and Manisha (big up Freedom Adventures for promoting female guides in the trekking industry!) - were exceptional and couldn't do enough for us! And our porters were insane - carrying 30kg on their backs and making it look easy. Seeing them cheering us on 100m before the top of the Thorong Pass made our day. Thank you Bhumi, Iswhor, Dipak, Susan, Sammer and Lila!

The accommodation was basic but exceeded my expectations, and the food was great - just don't expect to shower too much. . .

Apart from the altitude, the hiking wasn't too challenging and allowed us to go at a comfortable pace (paced excellently by Dili!!) and enjoy the stunning scenery around us.

If you're thinking of doing a trip to the Himalayas, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this trip and the Freedom Adventures team.

Travel to and from the trip

Our trips do not include flights, trains or other travel to the start point and back from the end point.

Meals

We do not include meals on the trekking part of this trip, as from experience we know that altitude and physical exercise can mean appetites vary hugely.

The cost of food rises as you ascend as it is all carried in by porters and yaks and as you get higher up, very little food can be grown. How much you spend per day will vary according to your choice of meal but generally, people spend between $25-$35 per person, per day on meals and hot drinks. Below is an approximate breakdown of some items:

  • Dal baht: $4 to $7
  • Chow mein: $2 to $4
  • Eggs: $2 to $4
  • Toast: $1.50 to $3
  • Tea/hot chocolate: $1 to $3
  • Chocolate bars: $2 to $4

Teahouses will provide cold water free of charge; however, it needs to be treated to enable you to drink it. Please read the FAQ below regarding our advice here.

Miscellaneous costs

Other extra costs at the teahouses to be considered are:

  • Shower: $2-$4
  • WiFi: $2-5
  • Electricity: $2-5

Tips

It is customary in Nepal to tip guides and porters. Although it may not be customary to you, it is of considerable significance to the people who will take care of you during your travels. You can give any tips to your lead guide at the end of your trip. This will then be shared amongst the whole team. For full transparency, the lead guide will distribute the tips to the guides and porters in your presence. It is customary for the guides to receive a higher share than the porters as they are more highly qualified.

A good rule of thumb is around $165pp as a tip, although the amount you give is entirely your choice.

If you would like to give an additional tip to a member of the team who has supported you personally, please do so directly and discretely.

Travel insurance

Travel insurance is compulsory for all of our adventures, and you'll need to provide your policy details before departure. Your insurance should offer adequate coverage for overseas medical treatment, evacuation/repatriation, your baggage and equipment, and the specific activities involved in your adventure. We also recommend ensuring your policy includes cancellation and curtailment coverage, in case you're unable to join your trip due to unforeseen circumstances such as illness. Standard travel insurance may not cover all the activities included in your adventure, so it's essential to check the details carefully. There are adventure-specific providers that many travelers have used in the past, such as True Traveller (for those based in the UK or Europe), or Rise + Shield, both of which offer coverage for a wide range of adventurous activities. Please make sure your chosen policy meets your individual needs and covers all aspects of your trip.

Owing to the nature of this trip, it is essential that your personal travel insurance policy provides coverage to the maximum altitude visited on this trip (17,776ft) as well as for emergency medical evacuation by helicopter.

Visas

Visa requirements often change, and you are responsible for obtaining any required visas for this trip. Please check with your nearest embassy or consulate for up-to-date advice.

Personal Expenses

You know your own spending habits best, so please budget an appropriate amount for things like optional meals and drinks, shopping, optional activities, and laundry.

Per person

We partner with the World Land Trust to ensure this trip achieves Net-Zero emissions. We also support their Buy an Acre program, helping local communities to buy and protect natural habitats in perpetuity.

What's the number?
It works out on average at 570kg of CO2 emissions per person, including all local transport, accommodation, food, activities, guides, staff and office operations.

The only thing it doesn’t include right now is flights and travel to the destination. We do make an overall estimate across all our customers separately, but as we don’t book flights, have customers from all corners of the world, and no way of reliably knowing their travel plans, we simply can’t include an individual number in the figure on display here. We’ve got a goal to fix that, so that when you book, there is a way to measure and mitigate the carbon emitted by your flight too.

But what does the number mean?
Yep, hard to picture eh? To give you an idea:

  • Driving 1000 miles/1609km would be approximately 281kg of CO2 in an average car (or 140.5kg per person, if there were two of you in it).
  • A return economy class flight between London and New York would be approximately 1619kg (1.66 tonnes) per person.
  • 10 trees in a temperate forest are estimated to remove approximately 250kg of CO2 from the air in a period of 5-10 years.

What are we doing about it?
Our trips are relatively low-carbon by design, and we're working with all our hosts to develop long term carbon reduction plans. We partner with the World Land Trust to ensure this trip achieves Net-Zero emissions. We also support their Buy an Acre programme, helping local communities to buy and protect natural habitats in perpetuity, ensuring the protection of the reserve and its wildlife.

Want to know more?
Amazingly, no international travel company has ever publicly published their carbon measurements before, as far as we know. We believe that must change, quickly. So we’re openly sharing the method we used in the hope that other companies will be able to more easily follow suit and build on what we've done so far. You'll find it all here.

The preferred currency is the Nepalese Rupee (NPR). While ATMs are available in the main cities, please do not rely on them as they are often out of order and most have a maximum withdrawal limit equivalent to about $370.

It's best to bring the bulk of your money with you in cash, then exchange it at a bank or at one of the many money changers in Nepal – your guide can help you with this. Most major currencies are accepted, including USD, Euros, and GBP (Sterling), however Scottish or Irish currency cannot be changed. Keep your exchange receipts in case you want to change any unused Rupees back into hard currency when you leave Nepal (it is illegal to export Nepalese Rupees, as it is a closed currency).

You will need to carry a fairly large amount of cash while trekking, for the meals (see 'Not Included' above). We advise that you keep this in a waterproof bag and in your day bag along with your passport.

We work with some of the best leaders in the industry. Every single one of them is government licensed and very experienced. To ensure guides' high standard of performance, the host provides them with top-notch in-house training that covers Leave No Trace (LNT) principles, advanced wilderness emergency aid, hyperbaric chambers, oxygen systems, mountain rescue, and incident management.

Although we schedule departure dates outside of the main monsoon season, weather conditions in any mountain region can be unpredictable and sometimes your host will need to revert to 'Plan B'. No two trekking seasons are the same but occasional landslides after Yak Kharka or heavy snowfall at Thorong Phedi or on the Thorong La are known to lead to trail closures on this route.

If the trail is closed or deemed unsafe, your host will organize an alternative trek – usually an extended version of the Annapurna Sanctuary Trek (also visiting Australian Camp). However, if after you’ve set off on the Annapurna Circuit Trek an issue subsequently arises and you cannot cross the Thorong La, you’ll have to retrace your steps back to Taal.

At the end of the trek, a flight from Jomsom to Pokhara is included – if this is canceled you will drive to Pokhara instead.

You can leave any luggage not needed during the trek at your hotel in Kathmandu.

This trip includes one porter for every two trekkers. They will carry up to 45-55 lbs of gear so your overnight bags and spare clothes will be transported for you (maximum 26 lbs per person). You will only need to carry a daypack with essentials in (extra layer, snacks, water, sunscreen, camera etc).

Your host in Nepal can arrange a variety of extra experiences in Kathmandu, should you want to explore further. Please discuss these directly with your host, who will be able to book them for you.

Kathmandu Heritage Tour: Visit four UNESCO World Heritage Sites: Kathmandu Durbar Square, Pashupatinath, Boudhanath and Swayambhunath (the Monkey Temple). Duration: full day (approx. 8:00 AM–3:00 PM).

Spice Markets & Durbar Square: Explore Asan Market and Thamel, visiting spice and tea markets and learning about the cultural, culinary and medicinal uses of Nepali spices from local vendors. Finish at Kathmandu Durbar Square, home to historic temples and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Duration: approx. three hours (flexible timing).

Master the Arts: Head to Bhaktapur Durbar Square for a pottery workshop. Learn to spin the wheel and shape clay into simple items such as cups, bowls or vases, and observe traditional drying and firing techniques used by local potters. Duration: half day (approx. 8:00 AM–12:30 PM).

Nepali Cooking Class: Learn to prepare four traditional Nepali dishes with hands-on guidance, then enjoy one of your creations. This experience supports SASANE and their work addressing human trafficking, child marriage and violence against women. Duration: half day (morning or afternoon).

Lakeside Pokhara, with its laid-back vibe, is a popular spot to relax after a trek. Although the tour starts and ends in Kathmandu, your host can arrange extra nights for you in Pokhara after your trek. They will simply shift your included bus transfer from Pokhara to Kathmandu and your final night's hotel reservation in Kathmandu to a later date for you, so you'll only need to pay for the additional accommodation in Pokhara.

Although most teahouses have the option to buy bottled water, we advise against it to reduce the use of plastic in the mountains (this ends up being burned or dumped into landfill out of sight).

You will instead be provided with cold water that needs treating. There is a wide range of products available these days which are more effective than traditional purification tablets – some trekkers like to use handheld UV devices such as a Steripen but other options are available (just check their performance in freezing conditions).

We automatically convert prices from the local currency that a host receives to your chosen currency. We update our exchange rates daily, so prices displayed on the site are subject to currency fluctuations, which is why you may see them change over time.

This trip includes a domestic flight from Jomsom to Pokhara. Nepal's mountainous terrain and weather create challenging flying conditions, and unfortunately, more incidents (including fatalities) occur here than in other countries. Since 2013, the EU has banned all Nepalese domestic airlines from flying within EU airspace to raise awareness of the poor safety record (although no Nepalese airlines were operating routes within the EU prior to the ban). You should be aware that flying in Nepal is an identified risk: please consider this carefully before making a reservation. Additional info can be found on the Aviation Safety Network entry for Nepal as well as the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office travel advice for Nepal.

Domestic airlines in Nepal are generally not accredited by any internationally recognized safety audit systems, and the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal does not operate to the same standards as those of Western nations.

What does Much Better Adventures do about this?
Much Better Adventures collaborates with other UK travel companies to arrange for independent air-safety auditors to visit Nepal annually to assess the local airlines. Much Better Adventures then only uses the carriers that were approved as part of the most recent audit. If any concerns are subsequently raised about an approved airline between audits, we put them on hold until the auditors are satisfied that safety standards are being met.

Due to the nature of this trip, it's essential that your personal travel insurance policy covers the maximum altitude reached on this trip (17,769 ft) as well as for emergency medical evacuation by helicopter.

For customers joining from other international locations, we recommend checking the official travel advice issued by your country of residence, as guidance may vary.

We recommend checking out the country-specific information and also talking to a travel nurse.
