Adventure Hiking in Slovakia in a Weekend

Excellent few days spent hiking in the National Park, guided by Patrik. Fun group, lots of laughs and a very competent guide! Highly recommended and I will be back to explore the High Tetras next!

It was simply perfect! I loved that 'Much Better Adventures' brought me to a place I would have never thought to go to. Levoca was beautiful and full of surprises. The hikes in Paradise national park were amazing, just the right level of difficultly. The ladders did take me out of my comfort zone but Patrick, our guide, was wonderful at putting everyone at ease. The adventure was simply perfecly planned, we started with the most challenging hike and the difficulty decreased every day. The evening at the thermal pools was perfect to end our second day. We enjoyed a bonus dip in the local lake on a hot day thanks to Patrick's quick thinking and flexibility. And what a treat to meet and travel with incredible, like-minded people, the amazing group really made this holiday one to remember. Much Better Adventures found itself a retourning customer for sure!

Just got back from an amazing few days in stunning Slovakia. Have met fantastic people and made memories to last a lifetime. Climbing ladders, hopping over fallen trees, and navigating platforms over rivers and gorges was the best fun. We don't get to do that much as adults and this was great! Each day was different even though it was all in the same park, and it felt challenging enough without also feeling like a walk in the park. The town we stayed in was picture perfect, clean, quaint, and super cheap. Also loved the thermal baths and lake swim. Or guide Patrick was ace. Really friendly and knowledgeable and a cracking sense of humour. Would return to Slovakia in a heartbeat and can't wait to book another Much Better Adventure!!

Such a great way to get a taste of the nature and cuisine in this part of Slovakia!

The description for the hikes is spot on; this is a beautiful national park, and exploring it through the network of trails, ladders and catwalks adds something very special to the routes. A comfortable pace gives everyone the chance to appreciate the scenery, but never felt too slow.

Levoca is a lovely and very walkable historic town, with everything needed close by. Transfers to the start of hikes were <20mins, so very little time is spent travelling to/fro each day.

Big shout-out to our guide, Patrik, for shaking up the itinerary when storms threatened our good time on day 2 and 3! Consulting with the group, his knowledge of the area and experiences in the region meant we got the most out, and we had a fantastic trip.

A really super few days. Levoca is a beautiful town that I would never have found myself: lovely and quiet after a few days in Krakow. The first day of hiking was through beautiful scenery and so much fun! The ladders looks far worse than they are. Some bad weather limited our hiking on the second two days, but we managed another gorge and Patrik was proactive in thinking of fun and interesting alternatives to keep us occupied. I would be very happy to return and explore the Paradise national park more!

For anyone wondering about this trip, I'd seriously recommend going. We were lucky to have a small group, and a very personal experience from start to end, a nice easy pace with no-one feeling like they weren't fit to go again the next day.

I was nervous about the heights, I'm not the best on ladders, but our guide Patrick provided reassurance, and by lunchtime of the first day, we'd made it to the top with everyone buzzing.

On our second day he altered things to make the most of our time and avoid some heavy thunder storms, thermal pools and a couple of spur of the moment changes kept us busy.

Day three had to be altered, with weather not in our favour, but Patrick again made use of our time and we did an underground cave experience which fitted in nicely with our return to Krakow and sadly the end of our trip.

Food was excellent, great recommendations, friendly hotel, and lovely UNESCO town of Levoco as our base which was amazingly quiet. Don't miss out on the bakery for snacks!

Roman an Patrick were really wonderful. Great company and looked after us so well. This trip was even better than expected. The beauty of the hikes, the city of levoca we stayed in, the knowledge of the tour guides. Everything exceeded my expectations. Highly recommend for anyone!

We had a fantastic trip and adventure in the Slovakian National Parks guided by Patrik and Roman. The Parks were beautiful and every corner throughout the trail provided another bit of excitement whether ladders, ledges or glorious meadow with views right across the countryside to the mountains . The perfect execution of an ideal adventure, packed into 3 days, which felt like a week. Roman & Patrik were ideal hosts, in what was a fun but physical adventure with a base in a stunning historic town.

What a trip … great friends, exciting hikes and a wonderful experience provided by much better adventures. Our guides were Roman and Patrick and they ensured we experienced a fantastic time of ladders 😱, steep climbs and brilliant views. Hotel was perfect with clean accommodation and great food.

A very enjoyable trip with a lovely group of people. The hotel was good with an excellent breakfast. WiFi being a bit poor was the only minor negative. The guide made sure everyone was safe and happy throughout. The hikes were easier than expected but quite fun nonetheless. We had a real mix of sunshine and thunderstorms but this didn’t spoil anything. Heading to the thermal baths was a nice way to relax on one of the evenings.

Thank you so much MBA and Jan for an awesome weekend in Slovakia. Brilliant hikes, full of adventure and beautiful scenery. Jan knew the area well so the car journeys were full of facts and language learning. The views were great and even when the trail was closed we still go to go an alternative that was fun.

We didn't know what to expect with this being our first ever group trip and we definately made a great choice by booking with MBA. The whole experience was fantastic! Right from the speedy responses to my questions before booking and great communication running up to the trip. The trip exceeded all our expectations and we had the best time. Our guides, Jan and Roman, were absolutely amazing, we could not have wished for better. They certainly made the trip with their humour and knowledge. The obstacles throughout the gorges were so much fun and the park was just so beautiful! I cannot express how good our trip was and how much we enjoyed it. We cannot wait to book our next trip with MBA!

The place is beautiful, we were lucky with the weather and the guides (Roman & Jan) were super careful, friendly and very relaxed. They were making sure everyone was happy and they were doing everything possible to make the trip a very good experience. The activities during the day were well planned and with a good balance between hiking, having some breaks, good food and group entertainment. Although personally I would spend more time hiking. Baths were a nice addition to the nature. Super recommend this trip and looking forward to book another one a bit more challenging from a physical point of view.

Really great adventure! Beautiful country, well organised trip our guide Patrick was very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Walking was a manageable level not too strenuous, ladders and walkways are challenging in places but definitely do able. Accommodation and food were great and trips to thermal baths was a great experience

We had the most amazing well planned hiking weekend with our hosts Tom & Peter who were very knowledgeable and gave us a wealth of information on the wonderful History of the area. The hotel was very comfortable and we had such an amazing group. The hike was challenging if your a little bit worried about heights in some areas but we all made it without issue. Couldn't recommend this hike enough and Much Better Adventures (MBA) as a tour operator. Very informative and kept everyone up to date. Will definitely be booking again soon! Loved it! So much laughing! even the Lidl stops haha!

My mum and I had a great time in Slovakia walking up the gorges and exploring the wonderful national park. The group was great and supportive. The guides were knowledgable and interesting. Slovakia was beautiful.

It’s not for the faint hearted, the high ladders and hanging steps over the rivers were great fun and really made the trip stand out from others.

Perfect for a long weekend walking and chatting to lots of friendly people.

What a superb walking trip we’ve just had in Slovakia which certainly exceeded all expectations!. The walks, which included ladders, bridges, ledges and chains, were sometimes challenging but we were in good hands as our guides Tom and Peter looked out for everybody, and were hugely experienced, positive, supportive and good company throughout. We got on well with every member of the group and we really enjoyed relaxing at the end of the day over delicious Slovakian food and a glass or two of wine. Another highlight was an evening visit to the local thermal baths. It was all over so quickly and we will certainly be recommending MBA and particularly Slovakia to our friends. Wow! What an incredible experience. This surpassed my expectations. Tom and Peter were brilliant. I cannot speak highly enough of them both, their knowledge, skill and personable approach created the perfect trip. Brilliant trip with a fun and easy group of people and guides. Speed of hiking was slightly slower than I'd choose, but the variety of scenery and challenges (vertical ladders, horizontal and diagonal ones, rocks, water, bridges, side steps, chains etc) made it interesting from start to finish. Itinerary was spot on - including the trip to the thermal baths - quite an unusual experience! Tom and Peter were both top notch, competent and knowledgeable guides / hikers, who love their country and being outside in it. I was actually quite sad when we were dropped off back at the airport and we had to say goodbye.

Thanks to Peter and Patrik for the great tour. Was a great mix of hiking and adventuring exactly as described! The transport was new and clean and we were given clear instructions throughout. The thermal baths were an added bonus Beautiful country and landscapes!

I thoroughly enjoyed the Slovakia hiking adventure! Our guides, Patrik and Peter, were fantastic, we couldn't have asked for better. They were helpful, friendly and very knowledgeable. They always made sure one of them was with me when I couldn't keep up the pace with the group. They offered shorter routes as alternatives which I accepted once and they provided clear instructions and kept us well informed of what we would need and what to expect. I would totally recommend this trip!
