Kyrgyzstan…. how do you pronounce it?. . . . and where is it exactly?. . . .
We couldn’t have known less about our holiday destination but it didn’t matter because Victor, Adyl and Fabian had everything covered.
From our arrival at Bishkek Airport, to our departure 9 days later, they took excellent care of us and helped us to see the incredible diversity of geography,
environment and culture that Kyrgyzstan has to offer. Victor, Adyl and Fabian clearly have a great love for the country and its people that they cannot fail to instill in others.
It’s been a while since we’ve done a group holiday and as we got to the airport, I must admit to feeling quite apprehensive about that, but I needn’t have worried as we had the good fortune to fall in with the loveliest group of fellow travellers you could hope for.
It was fantastic to spend 6 nights in yurts (stoves and duvets ensured they were surprisingly cosy!) at beautiful lake-side or mountainous locations (including two nights on the Silk Road!).
From the first-day trip to Osh Bazaar in Bishkek, through a visit to the Eagle hunter, waterfalls and other-worldly canyons, kayaking, hiking at altitude (Panda Pass: hiking poles a must!), cycling, horse-riding and some fascinating cultural insights (including yurt building, felting and hammams), this was an unforgettable trip. Even the journeys in Slava’s (very comfortable!) van provided constantly changing jaw-dropping scenery.
The format and content of the trip (including food and accommodation) was very well thought out, with attention to variety, comfort and exposure to as much of the amazing Kyrgyz culture as possible. In fact, the team went over and beyond in this regard!
Evenings were spent eating, drinking and playing games in the company of our fellow-travellers. I can’t believe we spent less than 2 weeks in Kyrgyzstan, we experienced so much and made fabulous memories and friends. Thank you to you all!
