Key Information
Day 1
Welcome to the Philippines!

Your adventure begins as soon as you land in Manila – the vibrant gateway to the 7,000+ islands of the Philippines. Your local host will meet you at the airport and transfer you through the bustling city to The Henry Hotel, a boutique retreat tucked away from the hustle and bustle. With its heritage-inspired architecture, leafy grounds, and stylish interiors, it’s a calm and characterful base for your first night in the capital. After some time to freshen up and relax, you’ll meet your host and fellow travellers for a welcome dinner at a local restaurant, sampling classic Filipino dishes while getting to know the group. Return to the hotel for a good night’s sleep, ready to start exploring Manila (and beyond) tomorrow.
Day 2
Cycle through Intramuros, the walled city of Manila

Cycling
Driving
Flight
This morning you’ll explore the heart of Manila’s old city, Intramuros – its name means 'within the walls'. The day starts at Bambike, a social enterprise that trains and employs local workers from the Gawad Kalinga community to handcraft sustainable bamboo bicycles. Hopping on one of these unique bikes, you’ll ride through Intramuros’ cobblestone streets and historic landmarks, taking in the city’s heritage and colonial architecture in a way that feels both authentic and impactful. After refuelling over a hearty Filipino lunch, it’s time to head to the airport for a short 1.5-hour flight south to Puerto Princesa, the gateway to Palawan. From here, a coastal drive brings you to the laid-back village of Port Barton. Once a backpacker secret, it has grown in popularity but still keeps its small-town charm. With limited infrastructure, golden beaches and a welcoming community, it’s the perfect place to unplug and ease into island life.
Day 3
Kayak through the remote islands of Port Barton

Kayaking
Swimming
Fuel up on breakfast before setting off on a kayaking adventure around the islands of Port Barton. Start with a briefing from your guide, who’ll run through paddling techniques and safety. Once settled into your two-person kayaks, you’ll head out to explore Twin Reef, Fantastic Reef, Exotic Island, Maxima Island, Turtle Sanctuary and Starfish Island Sandbar – each stop with clear waters, vibrant marine life and white-sand beaches. Pause for a picnic lunch, with time to swim or stretch out on the sand. In the afternoon, paddle back to Port Barton’s main beach and round off the day watching the sun set over the bay.
Day 4
Jungle hike to the waterfall of Pamuayan

Hiking
Driving
After breakfast, head out early to Pamuayan Falls, 6km northeast of Port Barton. A short tricycle ride takes you to the trailhead, where a jungle path winds through forest, bamboo groves and small streams. The trail is well-marked and makes for a refreshing start to the day. At the end, you’ll find a 30-metre cascade dropping into a clear, cool pool – perfect for a swim. Take time to relax in the water or simply enjoy the jungle setting. From here, continue to the secluded NaoNao Beach, a peaceful stretch of sand where you’ll stop for lunch by the sea. In the afternoon, settle in for the drive north to El Nido – often described as one of the most beautiful corners of the planet. With its 19 islands draped in primary jungle and black marble cliffs rising above turquoise bays, it’s an unforgettable first impression. Your base for the next two nights is a boutique hideaway on El Nido’s east coast – a quiet spot away from the crowds, ideal for unwinding after your island adventures.
Day 5
Discover hidden coves and islands in El Nido

Kayaking
Snorkelling
Driving
Today you’ll set out on a traditional banca boat to explore El Nido’s hidden beaches, turquoise lagoons and dramatic limestone cliffs. Begin at the Secret Lagoon, where you’ll switch into a kayak and paddle through a narrow opening in the rock to reach a vast, caldera-like interior – a serene world tucked away behind the cliffs. Continue to Shimizu Island, known for its striking limestone formations, before enjoying a Filipino lunch prepared by your guides. Afterwards, snorkel among coral gardens, spotting tropical fish and perhaps a sea turtle gliding past. The adventure carries on at the Big Lagoon, an expanse of emerald water framed by towering cliffs. End the day at Seven Commandos Beach – a stretch of white sand shaded by palms and named after the seven Japanese commandos who lived here after World War II.
Day 6
Get off grid on a remote castaway island in Linapacan

Kayaking
Snorkelling
This morning you’ll board a boat for an island expedition around Linapacan, a group of 52 islands known for clear waters and vibrant marine life. Spend the day snorkelling reefs, swimming from secluded beaches and kayaking quiet bays. You’ll also visit the million-year-old Seniora Caves, explore an old Spanish fortress, follow jungle trails and stop at lesser-known islands such as Magransing, Pikal, Kakayatan, Manligad and Cagdanao. By late afternoon you’ll arrive at a remote off-grid island in the Sulu Sea, where you’ll camp overnight beside the ocean. With no electricity and no light pollution, it’s a perfect spot for stargazing. Bring a torch and a power bank – but be ready to switch off and sink into the stillness of island life.
Day 7
Wake up on the beach to the sound of the ocean

Hiking
Swimming
Wake with the sunrise and the sounds of nature before tucking into a hearty island breakfast of eggs and fresh fruit. Continue your island-hopping journey, gliding past bays and islands en route to Coron. Along the way, stop at Culion Island to explore its history and take a short hike through its incredible natural beauty. By late afternoon, you’ll dock in Coron and check in to your boutique hotel, with time for a swim in the pool before a relaxed local dinner.
Day 8
Hike to Mount Tapyas viewpoint and dip in Maquinit hot springs

Hiking
This morning you’ll explore the seaside town of Coron, visiting its landmarks and local market. Climb the 700 steps to the Mount Tapyas viewing deck for sweeping views of the town and surrounding hills. Afterwards, unwind in the natural thermal waters of Maquinit Hot Springs on the southern coast. One of the few saltwater hot springs in the world, its waters are heated by an underground volcano and rise into a two-tiered circular pool. In the afternoon, you’ll have some free time – relax by the pool, explore more of the island or, if you’d like to go diving, you can book a scuba session (see FAQs and ask your host for details).
Day 9
Swim, snorkel and SUP around Coron Island

Stand Up Paddleboarding
Snorkelling
Hiking
Today you’ll hit the water to explore Coron and the natural beauty of northern Palawan. Travelling by banca, you’ll visit lakes and lagoons where you can hop on a paddleboard or take a dip in the water. Break for lunch at Calachuchi Beach before continuing to Kayangan Lake, hailed as the cleanest lake in the Philippines. A short uphill trek leads to a viewpoint over its glassy emerald waters, before you descend to the lakeshore for a swim. Next, explore the Twin Lagoons – one of which is hidden, reached only by either a bridge, or a thrilling swim beneath a rock. Snorkel over Skeleton Wreck, a Japanese ship from World War II now covered in coral and alive with tropical fish. In the evening, head out for a group dinner to share stories and toast your final night in Palawan.
Day 10
Farewell to the Philippines!

Flight
Tuck into an early breakfast before checking out and making your way to the domestic airport at Busuanga, travelling by land and boat. From Busuanga, you’ll catch a short flight back to Manila, where a member of your host’s team will be waiting to transfer you to the international airport. It’s the end of your Philippines adventure – bags a little sandier, but with plenty of memories to take home.

Transfers
Your host will meet you on arrival at Manila Airport at any time on Day 1 and transfer you to your hotel in the city. On the morning of Day 10, you'll transfer to the domestic airport for a flight from Busuanga to Manila, arriving in Manila before midday. Upon arrival at the domestic terminal, a host representative will meet you and transfer you to the international airport for 14:00. We recommend scheduling your international return flight to depart after 18:00 to allow ample time for airport security and any potential delays. Alternatively, booking an additional night near Manila airport on the final day is a good idea. This will provide a buffer in case of any delays or disruptions with your internal flight from Busuanga to Manila, minimising the risk of missing your international flight.
Airport transfers are included if you arrive on Day 1 and depart on Day 10. If you are arriving earlier or departing later, your host can arrange private airport transfers for an additional fee; see Optional Extras for prices.
Travel options
There are regular flights available to Manila from major airports across the UK, Europe and the US which transit via airports in the Middle East or Asia.

What is the food like?

During your island expedition through Palawan, you'll enjoy a combination of fresh seafood, grilled meats, and local fruits and vegetables. You'll typically have options of chicken, pork or grilled fish, often featuring the day's catch of tanigue or lapu-lapu. These meals are generally accompanied by steamed rice and local vegetables. You can also try classic Filipino dishes like adobo (a savoury, slow-cooked stew typically made with chicken or pork, marinated in vinegar, soy sauce, garlic, bay leaves, and black peppercorns). Noodle dishes are also a staple in Filipino cuisine, with pancit canton being very popular (stir-fried egg noodles with meat, seafood, and vegetables, soy sauce and citrus). On the islands, you'll have access to plenty of fresh fruits such as coconuts, mangoes, pineapples, bananas, and papayas, as well as local citrus like calamansi. For dessert, you'll try halo-halo (a mix of shaved ice, sweetened beans, fruits, and jellies), topped with leche flan and purple yam. Enjoy!
Vegetarians, vegans and other dietary requirements and allergies can be catered for – please just request this on your passenger info form.
What is the accommodation like?

Manila
You'll spend your first night in Manila at The Henry Hotel, a boutique property with converted vintage houses from the 1930s. The 34 bedrooms are stylishly decorated with mid-century furniture and plush bedding. There's a small restaurant inside the main building where you'll enjoy breakfast and beautifully landscaped grounds surrounding the hotel that you can walk in.

Port Barton
You'll spend two nights at Holiday Suites in Port Barton. This modern and comfortable hideaway is located on the beautiful Itaytay Beach and is close to shops and restaurants, with ATMs and a pharmacy within a few minutes walk. There's also a beachfront pool, bar and restaurant. You'll stay in twin-share rooms with private bathrooms.

El Nido
You’ll spend two nights at the new Henry Resort in El Nido, set on one of the island's most beautiful stretches of beach. The beachfront twin-share villas come with twin beds, private terrace, air conditioning, and a spacious bathroom. The resort also offers an infinity pool, direct access to soft white sand, and a restaurant serving fresh local dishes – everything you need for a comfortable and relaxing stay.

Island Camping
You’ll spend one night camping on a remote, off-grid island in the heart of the Linapacan archipelago – a pristine setting that may vary by departure. With no electricity or WiFi, this is a rare chance to disconnect and truly immerse yourself in nature. You’ll sleep right on the beach in spacious mesh tents, falling asleep to the sound of the waves under a canopy of stars. Each tent is pre-set with a cushioned mattress and bedding, and everyone will have their own tent (unless you’re travelling as a couple or friends, and wish to share). The tents are pitched in close proximity for comfort and community, and while facilities are basic, a manual flush toilet is available. Be sure to bring a torch and a power bank, as the only light in the evening comes from the stars above and the glow of a beach bonfire. In the morning, wake early for a stunning sunrise and enjoy a simple, freshly prepared breakfast of local fruit and eggs – a memorable end to a night spent far from the beaten path.

Coron
You'll spend three nights in Coron, at the boutique resort The Funny Lion. Here, you'll share twin rooms which are well-furnished with comfortable beds, air conditioning, and free WiFi. The resort overlooks a tranquil cove with virgin mangroves and kayak routes. You'll have stunning sunset views, and can relax in the infinity pool or hot tub.
Upgrades
For solo travellers looking for their own space, an optional private room can be booked for an extra charge – see Optional Extras for the price. Please request this at the time of booking, as this is subject to availability.
This trip has been rated as Easy
You don’t need any previous experience for this adventure – just a decent level of fitness and a love of being outdoors. You’ll spend around two to four hours a day hiking, kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, snorkelling or cycling – with plenty of breaks to swim, unwind and take in the views.
As much of the trip takes place in or on the water, you’ll need to be a confident swimmer and feel comfortable in the ocean. Hikes follow forest and jungle trails – not technical or high-altitude, but the heat and humidity can make things tougher, so come prepared. Kayaking and paddleboarding take place in calm, sheltered bays and lagoons, and the cycling in Manila’s Intramuros district is a gentle, flat ride through the city’s historic heart.
This island-hopping adventure strikes a sweet spot between activity, culture and downtime – all set among one of the world’s most beautiful archipelagos.
What if i need to skip an activity?
This is a multi-activity trip designed to keep you moving each day, but it’s also flexible. If at any point you’d prefer to sit out of an activity – whether it’s kayaking, cycling, or hiking – you can usually relax at the accommodation or at the beach. Your local guide will help make arrangements on the day and ensure you’re comfortable. Please note that as the group moves between islands, some activities are built into transfers (e.g. short hikes or paddles to reach a destination), so in these cases participation is strongly recommended.
What will I need to carry?
You will need to transport your bag from the minibus into the airport, and vice versa, for the internal flights. On Day 6, you will also need to bring your luggage to the boat, where it can be left throughout your island hopping excursion of Linacapan. For the rest of the itinerary, your larger bag, suitable for all your belongings, will be transported for you. You'll need a small rucksack to carry personal items during each day of activity.
Palawan and Coron have a tropical climate with two distinct seasons. This adventure runs during the dry season from November to May, when you can expect warm, sunny days and calm seas – ideal conditions for island hopping. Daytime temperatures usually sit between 30–33°C, dropping only slightly at night to around 23–25°C. The sea stays warm year-round at 27–30°C, making it great for snorkelling, kayaking and swimming.
Brief tropical showers are still possible during the dry season. These are usually short and pass quickly, often followed by clear skies – they are refreshing rather than disruptive. These are most likely in the quieter, shoulder-season months of November and May. January to April is considered peak season, with the most reliable sunshine and fewer showers.
We’re still waiting to collect any reviews from other travellers on this trip. However, all our hosts go through an extensive vetting process to ensure that your adventure is awesome.

Tips
Tips are not included in the trip cost. These are entirely at your discretion but there is an expectation to tip for good service. For this trip we recommend approximately $45-$50 per person for the main tour leader, plus $50-$55 to be shared by other local guides and drivers.
Of course, you are free to tip more or less, and the amount should be reflective of your perception of service and quality – a tip is not compulsory and should only be given when you receive excellent service.
Travel insurance
Travel insurance is compulsory for all of our adventures, and you'll need to provide your policy details before departure. Your insurance should offer adequate cover for overseas medical treatment, evacuation/repatriation, your baggage and equipment, and the specific activities involved in your adventure. We also recommend ensuring your policy includes cancellation and curtailment cover, in case you're unable to join your trip due to unforeseen circumstances such as illness.
Standard travel insurance may not cover all the activities included in your adventure, so it's essential to check the details carefully. There are adventure-specific providers that many travellers have used in the past, such as True Traveller (for those based in the UK or Europe), or Rise + Shield, both of which offer cover for a wide range of adventurous activities.
Please make sure your chosen policy meets your individual needs and covers all aspects of your trip.
Visas
Citizens of many countries can enter the Philippines without a visa for a stay of up to 30 days. These countries include the United Kingdom, United States, Canada, the European Union member states and Australia. If you wish to stay longer than the allowed visa-free period, you can apply for an extension at the Bureau of Immigration in the Philippines. Where a visa is required, some nationalities can obtain a visa upon arrival for a fee, allowing a stay of up to 59 days. If your country is not on the visa-free or visa-on-arrival list, you will need to apply for a tourist visa before travelling.
Visa requirements often change, and you are responsible for obtaining any required visas for this trip. Please check with your nearest embassy or consulate for up-to-date advice.

We partner with the World Land Trust to ensure this trip achieves Net-Zero emissions. We also support their Buy an Acre programme, helping local communities to buy and protect natural habitats in perpetuity.
What's the number?
It works out on average at 402kg of CO2 emissions per person, including all local transport, accommodation, food, activities, guides, staff and office operations.
The only thing it doesn’t include right now is flights and travel to the destination. We do make an overall estimate across all our customers separately, but as we don’t book flights, have customers from all corners of the world, and no way of reliably knowing their travel plans, we simply can’t include an individual number in the figure on display here. We’ve got a goal to fix that, so that when you book, there is a way to measure and mitigate the carbon emitted by your flight too.
But what does the number mean?
Yep, hard to picture eh? To give you an idea:
- Driving 1000 miles/1609km would be approximately 281kg of CO2 in an average car (or 140.5kg per person, if there were two of you in it).
- A return economy class flight between London and New York would be approximately 1619kg (1.66 tonnes) per person.
- 10 trees in a temperate forest are estimated to remove approximately 250kg of CO2 from the air in a period of 5-10 years.
What are we doing about it?
Our trips are relatively low-carbon by design, and we're working with all our hosts to develop long term carbon reduction plans. We partner with the World Land Trust to ensure this trip achieves Net-Zero emissions. We also support their Buy an Acre programme, helping local communities to buy and protect natural habitats in perpetuity, ensuring the protection of the reserve and its wildlife.
Want to know more?
Amazingly, no international travel company has ever publicly published their carbon measurements before, as far as we know. We believe that must change, quickly. So we’re openly sharing the method we used in the hope that other companies will be able to more easily follow suit and build on what we've done so far. You'll find it all here.
For your island-hopping adventures, you will be cruising on a traditional outrigger boat, known locally as a 'banca'. These sturdy vessels have been a staple of Philippine coastal life for centuries, serving as both fishing boats and water taxis. The unique design of the outrigger canoe allows it to navigate shallow coral reefs and marine life without causing disturbance, and is an eco-friendly choice for exploring the country's islands.
Your trip includes internal flights from Manila to Puerto Princesa and from Busuanga to Manila. You'll travel on either Cebu Pacific or Philippine Airlines, and you'll be allowed to travel with up to 7kg of hand luggage and 20kg of checked luggage per person.
On Day 8, there will be a free afternoon in Coron. If you are PADI certified, it's a great opportunity to opt to book a scuba diving session, which you can arrange and pay for directly with your host. If you think this is something you'd like to do, it's important to contact your host before your arrival in the country to let them know that you're interested and provide the necessary details. Your host will check that you are a certified diver and whether you have been scuba diving in the past year; this information is crucial for safety and eligibility purposes. If you have not been diving within the past year, a refresher course or tune-up session will be mandatory to ensure you are comfortable and proficient with diving procedures and equipment and your host can assist in arranging this. Once all the necessary information is provided and any required refresher courses are completed, your host will finalise the booking of your scuba diving session and send you a confirmation with details about the dive.
Your host will provide two-seater kayaks, perfect for beginners and beyond. These kayaks are lightweight, stable, and easy to manoeuvre. Their design makes it nearly impossible to tip over unless done intentionally (which you might choose to do for fun!). Before you set off your host will give you all the necessary information to use the kayaks safely.
There will be a supply of filtered drinking water available that your host will provide throughout the journey, so be sure to bring a refillable water bottle (1-2L).
Travelling in the Philippines means embracing a bit of island-time – weather, sea conditions, and local logistics can sometimes affect the schedule. Your experienced local guides know the area inside out and will always have a Plan B. Your local host will strive to follow the planned itinerary, but safety is the top priority, so if an activity has to be adjusted, shortened, or replaced, they’ll make sure you still enjoy an alternative experience.
Boat transfers are handled by independent companies that usually run on schedule, but can be delayed or cancelled at short notice due to weather or mechanical issues. Should a cancellation occur, your guide will arrange alternatives and reschedule any included activities whenever feasible.
If major itinerary changes result in significant additional costs (such as extra nights in hotels), these expenses would be the customer's responsibility, to be reimbursed through travel insurance.
This trip operates in areas where daytime temperatures can reach extreme levels, with limited shade and, at times, high humidity adding to the challenge. These conditions can affect physical performance and increase the risk of dehydration or heat-related illness. Your guide will adjust the pace and monitor the group closely, but staying well hydrated, wearing suitable clothing, and using sun protection is essential.
Before travelling, consider your ability to remain active in high temperatures and consult a medical professional if you have any concerns, especially if you have cardiovascular or heat-sensitive conditions. Arriving a day or two before the trip may help you adjust gradually to the heat.
