Your adventure begins as soon as you land in Manila – the vibrant gateway to the 7,000+ islands of the Philippines. Your local host will meet you at the airport and transfer you through the bustling city to The Henry Hotel, a boutique retreat tucked away from the hustle and bustle. With its heritage-inspired architecture, leafy grounds, and stylish interiors, it’s a calm and characterful base for your first night in the capital. After some time to freshen up and relax, you’ll meet your host and fellow travellers for a welcome dinner at a local restaurant, sampling classic Filipino dishes while getting to know the group. Return to the hotel for a good night’s sleep, ready to start exploring Manila (and beyond) tomorrow.

This morning you’ll explore the heart of Manila’s old city, Intramuros – its name means 'within the walls'. The day starts at Bambike, a social enterprise that trains and employs local workers from the Gawad Kalinga community to handcraft sustainable bamboo bicycles. Hopping on one of these unique bikes, you’ll ride through Intramuros’ cobblestone streets and historic landmarks, taking in the city’s heritage and colonial architecture in a way that feels both authentic and impactful. After refuelling over a hearty Filipino lunch, it’s time to head to the airport for a short 1.5-hour flight south to Puerto Princesa, the gateway to Palawan. From here, a coastal drive brings you to the laid-back village of Port Barton. Once a backpacker secret, it has grown in popularity but still keeps its small-town charm. With limited infrastructure, golden beaches and a welcoming community, it’s the perfect place to unplug and ease into island life.

Once settled into your two-person kayaks, you’ll head out to explore Twin Reef, Fantastic Reef, Exotic Island, Maxima Island, Turtle Sanctuary and Starfish Island Sandbar – each stop with clear waters, vibrant marine life and white-sand beaches. Pause for a picnic lunch, with time to swim or stretch out on the sand. In the afternoon, paddle back to Port Barton’s main beach and round off the day watching the sun set over the bay.

After breakfast, head out early to Pamuayan Falls, 6km northeast of Port Barton. A short tricycle ride takes you to the trailhead, where a jungle path winds through forest, bamboo groves and small streams. The trail is well-marked and makes for a refreshing start to the day. At the end, you’ll find a 30-metre cascade dropping into a clear, cool pool – perfect for a swim. Take time to relax in the water or simply enjoy the jungle setting. From here, continue to the secluded NaoNao Beach, a peaceful stretch of sand where you’ll stop for lunch by the sea. In the afternoon, settle in for the drive north to El Nido – often described as one of the most beautiful corners of the planet. With its 19 islands draped in primary jungle and black marble cliffs rising above turquoise bays, it’s an unforgettable first impression. Your base for the next two nights is a boutique hideaway on El Nido’s east coast – a quiet spot away from the crowds, ideal for unwinding after your island adventures.

Begin at the Secret Lagoon, where you’ll switch into a kayak and paddle through a narrow opening in the rock to reach a vast, caldera-like interior – a serene world tucked away behind the cliffs. Continue to Shimizu Island, known for its striking limestone formations, before enjoying a Filipino lunch prepared by your guides. Afterwards, snorkel among coral gardens, spotting tropical fish and perhaps a sea turtle gliding past. The adventure carries on at the Big Lagoon, an expanse of emerald water framed by towering cliffs. End the day at Seven Commandos Beach – a stretch of white sand shaded by palms and named after the seven Japanese commandos who lived here after World War II.

Spend the day snorkelling reefs, swimming from secluded beaches and kayaking quiet bays. You’ll also visit the million-year-old Seniora Caves, explore an old Spanish fortress, follow jungle trails and stop at lesser-known islands such as Magransing, Pikal, Kakayatan, Manligad and Cagdanao. By late afternoon you’ll arrive at a off-grid island in the Sulu Sea, where you’ll camp overnight beside the ocean. With limited electricity and no light pollution, it’s a perfect spot for stargazing. Bring a torch and a power bank – but be ready to switch off and sink into the stillness of island life.

A short uphill trek leads to a viewpoint over its glassy emerald waters, before you descend to the lakeshore for a swim. Next, explore the Twin Lagoons – one of which is hidden, reached only by either a bridge, or a thrilling swim beneath a rock. Snorkel over Skeleton Wreck, a Japanese ship from World War II now covered in coral and alive with tropical fish. In the evening, head out for a group dinner to share stories and toast your final night in Palawan.

Transfers

Your host will meet you on arrival at Manila Airport at any time on Day 1 and transfer you to your hotel in the city. On the morning of Day 10, you'll transfer to the domestic airport for a flight from Busuanga to Clark Airport, Pampanga and then transferring 2hrs to Manilla, arriving early afternoon. We recommend scheduling your international return flight to depart after 18:00 to allow ample time for airport security and any potential delays. Alternatively, booking an additional night near Manila airport on the final day is a good idea. This will provide a buffer in case of any delays or disruptions with your internal flight from Busuanga to Manila, minimising the risk of missing your international flight.

Airport transfers are included if you arrive on Day 1 and depart on Day 10. If you are arriving earlier or departing later, your host can arrange private airport transfers for an additional fee; see Optional Extras for prices.

    Stay

    Island Camping

You’ll spend one night on a remote, off-grid island in the heart of the Linapacan archipelago. With no WiFi and only limited electricity, this is a rare chance to properly switch off and immerse yourself in nature. You’ll be allocated both a private beach hut and a mesh tent. You can choose to sleep in the tent under the stars (weather permitting), with its fine mesh allowing for uninterrupted views of the night sky while keeping mosquitoes at bay. Each setup includes a comfortable mattress and bedding, and tents are pitched close together to create a relaxed, communal atmosphere. If the weather is less favourable (such as strong winds or rain), you can opt to sleep inside your hut. Facilities here are simple but thoughtfully arranged, including communal, basic, manual-flush toilets. A generator runs for a short period in the early evening, giving you time to freshen up and settle in before night falls – after dinner, the island is lit only by lamps, a beach bonfire and the stars above. Dinner and breakfast are freshly prepared and served by a local chef right on the beach, adding to the unique, castaway experience.

Occasionally, subject to availability, you may stay at an alternative resort of a similar standard nearby, such as the Bacau Bay Resort.

Food and Dietary info

During your island expedition through Palawan, you'll enjoy a combination of fresh seafood, grilled meats, and local fruits and vegetables. You'll typically have options of chicken, pork or grilled fish, often featuring the day's catch of tanigue or lapu-lapu. These meals are generally accompanied by steamed rice and local vegetables. You can also try classic Filipino dishes like adobo (a savoury, slow-cooked stew typically made with chicken or pork, marinated in vinegar, soy sauce, garlic, bay leaves, and black peppercorns). Noodle dishes are also a staple in Filipino cuisine, with pancit canton being very popular (stir-fried egg noodles with meat, seafood, and vegetables, soy sauce and citrus). On the islands, you'll have access to plenty of fresh fruits such as coconuts, mangoes, pineapples, bananas, and papayas, as well as local citrus like calamansi. For dessert, you'll try halo-halo (a mix of shaved ice, sweetened beans, fruits, and jellies), topped with leche flan and purple yam. Enjoy!

Trip level explained

Level 1

Easy

You don’t need any previous experience for this adventure – just a decent level of fitness and a love of being outdoors. You’ll spend around two to four hours a day hiking, kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, snorkelling or cycling – with plenty of breaks to swim, unwind and take in the views.

As much of the trip takes place in or on the water, you’ll need to be a confident swimmer and feel comfortable in the ocean. Hikes follow forest and jungle trails – not technical or high-altitude, but the heat and humidity can make things tougher, so come prepared. Kayaking and paddleboarding take place in calm, sheltered bays and lagoons, and the cycling in Manila’s Intramuros district is a gentle, flat ride through the city’s historic heart.

This island-hopping adventure strikes a sweet spot between activity, culture and downtime – all set among one of the world’s most beautiful archipelagos.

What if i need to skip an activity?

This is a multi-activity trip designed to keep you moving each day, but it’s also flexible. If at any point you’d prefer to sit out of an activity – whether it’s kayaking, cycling, or hiking – you can usually relax at the accommodation or at the beach. Your local guide will help make arrangements on the day and ensure you’re comfortable. Please note that as the group moves between islands, some activities are built into transfers (e.g. short hikes or paddles to reach a destination), so in these cases participation is strongly recommended.

What will I need to carry?

You will need to transport your bag from the minibus into the airport, and vice versa, for the internal flights. On Day 6, you will also need to bring your luggage to the boat, where it can be left throughout your island hopping excursion of Linacapan. For the rest of the itinerary, your larger bag, suitable for all your belongings, will be transported for you. You'll need a small rucksack to carry personal items during each day of activity.

Remote environment: factors to consider

Some parts of this trip take place in areas where access to medical facilities and emergency services may be limited. This may mean that reaching medical care takes longer than you might normally expect, or that local medical facilities have fewer resources than those you may be used to at home.

If someone becomes unwell or injured, initial treatment may be provided locally before onward travel to a larger hospital or city for further care. Evacuation could involve changing the planned route or using different forms of transport to reach appropriate medical facilities. Mobile phone coverage may also be intermittent in some locations.

Your guide is trained to manage situations in remote environments and will monitor the group and respond appropriately if any issues arise. However, it’s important that you let your guide know straight away if you feel unwell or experience any health concerns during the trip.

Before booking, consider your personal health and ability to travel in locations where access to medical care may be delayed. If you have any pre-existing medical conditions or concerns, we recommend seeking advice from a medical professional and discussing them with your host before travelling.

All travellers must have suitable travel insurance that covers the activities included in the trip and emergency medical evacuation if required.

My first time to the Philippines and my last of the major SEA countries. I wish I had visited sooner. This was also my first Level 1 style trip and it gave me just what I needed, a more relaxing style of travel while still getting a great mix activities in. The itinerary is well put together and all the support teams throughout each section ensured we were all looked after. As with all previous reviews, Rey went above and beyond with his service and was always on hand to help, especially when I got an unwell. I will be back to the Philippines soon. Another great MBA trip and I hope the local teams are able to create some other adventures for the out of season summer time.

  • Alison B.

This was my second MBA solo adventure and one a little further afield and more adventurous for me. It was simply brilliant from start to finish. I'm still trying to get my head around all the amazing experiences and incredible locations we visited. The Philippines have been on my bucket list for a while and I wanted to get there before mass tourism took off. The country is beautiful, the beaches/sand bars the best I've ever has the privilege to experience, the snorkelling was to die for with beautiful coral gardens and copious sea life including sea turtles (seen on 3 occasions), amazing shoals of fish of every type. The locals seemed so pleased we were visiting (as there had been some reduction of visitors due to Trump's war) and were so very welcoming and very friendly. The itinerary was expertly designed and then faultlessly delivered by our excellent local guide Rey who made sure we found the best snorkelling spots, avoided any crowds (there weren't many), arranged for amazing lunches, booked family run restaurants for dinner, managed all our various means of transport and dealt with any requests or problems efficiently. He was the very best tour leader you could ever wish for and really made the trip so special. Our tour leaders expertly operated 2 drones which accompanied us for the 10 days and gave us some of the most incredible shots of our many activities. The group was refreshingly all solo travellers who ranged in ages from 31 - 54. We instantly bonded, despite being from very diverse backgrounds and different countries (but mostly from the UK). We all chose to dine together each evening and had so many laughs and great conversation. Being a solo traveller on an MBA trip really is the very best way to travel, and so different from holidaying with friends or family. . . and I can't recommend it enough! Being the oldest, I was worried about being able to keep up with them all, but they couldn't have been more inclusive and encouraging and I managed everything apart from the cliff jumping and tattoos! This trip is marked as easy on the activity/difficulty level, however I'd still suggest getting in good shape before going as the itinerary is full on and very active. On the final day for example, we snorkelled in 3 different spots (including an amazing WW2 wreck), SUP'd through mangroves and along the shoreline for an hour, swam across 2 deep wide lagoons and climbed 400 steps up to lagoon. Another day we hiked the hill that looks over Coron - 600 steps in intense heat and humidity. You'll enjoy it more if you can take it all in your stride. The accommodation was excellent, especially the eco lodge resort near El Nido which we had sole use of including its own long beach to watch the sunrise. The off grid experience was magical, but slightly marred by food poisoning that half the group came down with, leaving some feeling very ropey for the 6 hour boat journey the next day. However this is Asia, so you have to prepare for these kind of things! The bamboo bike tour round Manila on day 1 helped set the tone and provided the historical understanding needed to appreciate the country and everything it has been through. A couple of 'must haves' that I'd recommend you take if you have this booked: - The strongest Factor 50+ sun protection and a light weight long sleeved rash vest as being in the water and snorkelling so much means you are at risk of some crazy sunburn - Your own snorkel gear (mask and fins) as it was pot luck the quality and size of those provided each day - Ear plugs: cockerels making their presence known from 4am each day - Battery packs for recharging your phone as we did have quite a few power outages - Full strength meds for potential tummy trouble Just book it!

This trip was a perfect 5/5, with an itinerary that was flawlessly planned and even better executed. The Philippines is easily one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen. Each snorkeling spot offered something new—from vibrant corals to turtle encounters—while kayaking through turquoise waters and hidden caves was a total highlight. The hikes were definitely warm, but cooling off in waterfalls at the end made every step worth it. What truly made the experience was Rey B. He is a brilliant leader who balanced safety and logistics with a great sense of humor. Between teaching us the "Ocho ocho" and redefining "light lunches," he ensured everyone was laughing and having a great time. The entire MBA crew was equally fantastic. Bert was dedicated to getting everyone the perfect photo, Jason’s local knowledge was insightful, and the boat crews were incredible, serving up delicious food while navigating us safely through paradise. It was an unforgettable adventure from start to finish. Don't hesitate—book the tour, you won’t be disappointed!

  • Edward C.

The trip to Palawan and Coron was incredible. The whole tour was very well organised, all of the accommodation surpassed my expectations especially on El Nido where we had the whole place to ourselves with a private beach. The activities were great and not too strenuous, with the snorkelling some of the best in the world. Our tour leader, Rey, is a great guy, friendly and funny and nothing was too much. You can see why all of the reviews mention what a great guy he is. All in all a fantastic trip and a very special part of the country. Highly recommend this trip.

  • Janice C.

This trip surpassed any expectation I could’ve dreamed of. Before and during my booking, all my questions and concerns were answered. Are guides, Ray and Adrian made sure this trip was one of a lifetime for each of us. Everything was meticulously planned and executed perfectly. Every single one of our needs or requests were met. There were so many individual adventures that I lost track, but we had daily debriefs on what we were doing next, and what we needed to bring with us. They made us laugh, and were genuinely having the best time with us while keeping us entertained and safe. The food was incredible, the views, breathtaking, and the activities were plentiful. A lot of the evenings I wanted to head back to the hotel early, and I was escorted safely before Adrian headed back out to rejoin the others. Each spot was handpicked using their intimate knowledge of the islands to avoid any crowds. Every restaurant was vetted beforehand and they made sure we had the best service. We didn’t have to worry about photos as they continuously took them, including drone footage. There would be no way possible to plan this if travelling alone. Much Better Adventures has the highest standards with fun and safety as a top priority. Guides were always with us during each activity if the need for support arrised. They told us stories about the history of the islands and the culture. Transportation was always lined up without a hiccup or delay. There was zero stress and all we had to do was show up. One of the best highlights was camping on the beach with massages and a meal catered better than Christmas dinner. The accommodations were clean and comfortable. Every boat chartered was just for our small group. I lost my GoPro while jumping off the boat, but one of our guides dove deeply to retrieve it. All the activities and meals were partnered with supporting the local communities. As a solo traveler, I was nervous to take a trip on my own, so I took the risk of booking this group trip. It was an experience of a lifetime being with like-minded people exploring all of our passions. I will most definitely travel with them again!

  • dawn l.

despite the trip being fully booked and confirmed as going ahead 4/5 months before we went in March, the majority of the hotels weren’t booked until the night before we were due to stay in them. This last minute effort caused unnecessary anxiety and largely meant poorer quality accommodation with multiple changes to the advertised itinerary which we had been looking forward to. This is not our previous experience on MBA trips - the local tour operator was incompetent. Would have given 2 stars if not for our fab guide Ray, our amazing fellow travellers and the fact that the Philippines is absolutely gorgeous and so worth a visit. Hopefully all these accommodation/ itinerary changes won’t be a repeat experience on this trip so don't be put off booking, but do check all is as it should be before you go.

  • Elizabeth P.

The Itinerary was amazing & mostly as expected. Our guide Rey was fabulous, but 3 of our 5 promised accommodations emailed a week before we travelled were changed,1 was good the other 2 were really disappointing :(

  • Kelley F.

This was my first group trip and I already can't wait to plan another one. Rey was an outstanding guide - he and his team looked after us every step of the way. The snorkelling was out of this world, and the endless unspoiled natural beauty was incredible. Highly recommend!

  • Amanda R.

I would definitely recommend this trip - it is a must experience tour. The Philippines is simply stunning and this tour combined gorgeous beaches, amazing snorkelling, fun kayaking, SUPing and waterfalls, great hotels and delicious food (you will not go hungry), plus never ending rum if you wished 😁. Rey is one of the best, if not the best, tour leader I have experienced across many previous trips. He is incredibly well organised but also caring, funny, knowledgeable, and thinks of everything to make your tour even better, often exceeding my expectations. Highlights of the tour were so many but sleeping under the stars and waking up in tents on Linapacan island was particularly memorable, as was swimming with a turtle and watching a clown fish parent protecting its young in coral. Honestly, book this tour. You will not be disappointed.

This trip was absolutely brilliant. Beautiful water, outstanding food, snorkelling and a brilliant guide in Rey who anticipated our every want before we even knew it ! I’ve been on many guided trips before but Rey is genuinely the most professional and best guide I have ever encountered. The night in the island sleeping under the stars was a particularly highlight in a trip of brilliant adventure. I can not recommend this trip enough.

  • Chilled Adventure and Stunning Beaches

    David W. May 2026
My first time to the Philippines and my last of the major SEA countries.
  • Trip of a lifetime - book it!

    Alison B. May 2026
This was my second MBA solo adventure and one a little further afield and more adventurous for me.
  • An amazing trip

    Kudzai M. May 2026
This trip was a perfect 5/5, with an itinerary that was flawlessly planned and even better executed.
  • Amazing trip

    Edward C. May 2026
The trip to Palawan and Coron was incredible.
  • Simply the best!

    Janice C. April 2026
  • Sadly not as advertised . . . .

    dawn l. April 2026
despite the trip being fully booked and confirmed as going ahead 4/5 months before we went in March, the majority of the hotels weren’t booked until the night before we were due to stay in them.
  • Amazing Adventure but accommodation not as expected :(

    Elizabeth P. April 2026
The Itinerary was amazing & mostly as expected. Our guide Rey was fabulous, but 3 of our 5 promised accommodations emailed a week before we travelled were changed,1 was good the other 2 were really disappointing :(
  • Don't miss out!

This was my first group trip and I already can't wait to plan another one. Rey was an outstanding guide - he and his team looked after us every step of the way. The snorkelling was out of this world, and the endless unspoiled natural beauty was incredible. Highly recommend!
  • Utterly amazing and stunningly beautiful

    Amanda R. January 2026

    Fiona T. January 2026
This trip was so well organised. Every detail was planned and thought through and the tour leader, Rey, was a legend anticipating every need before you even realised. Also the food was phenomenal. The Philippines is almost ridiculously beautiful. It’s like being in a travel brochure. Book it!
  • Exceptional & absolutely memorable!!!!

    Alexandra M. January 2026
This was hands down the best adventure trip I have taken. Much Better Adventures has put together an incredible and exciting schedule with outstanding locations and activities - every single day was fun and memorable. Whether it was snorkeling and encountering sea turtles who swam with us or kayaking, SUP'ing or swimming in secluded lagoons and small bays or spending the night under open skies in mesh tents on deserted island beaches - such wonderful experiences that made me pinch myself on a daily basis! Highly recommend this trip, this destination and definitely the Much Better Adventure guide and crew.
  • Above and Beyond!

    Fernando M. January 2026
My wife and I had a wonderful adventure Island hopping in the Philippines, what we saw and what we experienced exceeded our imagination. The people, the daily adventures and the food provided were all fantastic! Our guide, Rey, did a great job leading us and keeping us safe. We fell in love with the Philippines and will return, without fail!

    Excellent trip
  • Brilliant - wish I was still there!

    Pippa W. January 2026
Just the best trip - stunning islands, amazing snorkelling with so much to see (turtles, squid, giant starfish, clown fish), sensational food (especially on the boats), deserted beaches, Hilot massages. A great combination of roughing it with nice hotels mixed in - the camping was a real highlight. Rey, our tour leader, was the perfect combination of laidback and fun while also super organised and on top of everything. Already planning my trip back to the Philippines.
  • Brilliant holiday with well-planned activities

    Anna C. January 2026
Brilliant holiday with well-planned activities and stunning scenery. Our guide Rey, was outstanding—timed everything perfectly so we avoided crowds and made the most of each stop. Lots of travel and some long drives I hadn’t expected, but overall a smooth and memorable experience. Only minor downsides: limited wildlife info, although stunning snorkelling opportunities and remote camping wasn’t as remote/off-grid as expected, possibly due to recent typhoon damage at the usual site. Still, highly recommend for an amazing adventure! Four stars due to long travel days
  • An incredible trip

    Victoria L. November 2025
This trip was fantastic from start to end. The group was excellent fun, but our guide, Rey, made the tour everything it could be. We were fighting against the weather (two typoons. . . ) and yet the locals and the group were unfazed and we only missed out on a small part of the itinerary thanks to Rey's organisation. I would highly recommend this trip to anyone. The Philippines is an amazing place and I'll certainly be returning.

Lovely trip, beautiful country, and the Filipino people are some of the friendliest you’ll ever meet—they truly couldn’t do enough for us. Rey, our guide, was absolutely fantastic: friendly, knowledgeable, funny, and always going the extra mile for the group. Although two typhoons disrupted parts of the planned itinerary, Rey handled every change with calm expertise, ensuring the experience remained both fun and safe. Despite the weather challenges, the trip was still truly unforgettable. The food, the accommodation, and every aspect of the experience were spot on—sadly, the one thing nobody can control is the weather! Highly recommend this trip. Don’t hesitate—just book it.

  • Great adventure in these lovely islands

    Bernadette C. November 2025
I'm giving this trip 4 stars rather than 5 just because of the amount of internal travel that eats into your activity time. It's hard to avoid this if you want to see more of these beautiful islands, so maybe MBA could consider extending the length of the trip to compensate for that. Otherwise, 5 stars to our superb guide, Rey, who was consistently upbeat, helpful and positive, even when we had to change some of our itinerary due to the impact of the recent typhoon. 5 stars to the water activities (I could have lived without the spider web), 5 stars to the food and 5 stars to be accommodation. I was with a lovely group of people from diverse backgrounds. We have taken home unforgettable memories that will keep us smiling for a long time.

FAQs

For your island-hopping adventures, you will be cruising on a traditional outrigger boat, known locally as a 'banca'. These sturdy vessels have been a staple of Philippine coastal life for centuries, serving as both fishing boats and water taxis. The unique design of the outrigger canoe allows it to navigate shallow coral reefs and marine life without causing disturbance, and is an eco-friendly choice for exploring the country's islands.

Domestic flights are included in the trip price and will be booked by your local host once the departure is guaranteed to run. As these flights are secured early for group travel, you’ll need to provide your passport details as soon as possible. The booking name must exactly match your passport, so please check this carefully. Any discrepancies may result in a change fee or the cost of a new ticket, payable by you. We recommend booking early to secure a seat on the allocated group flight. If this flight is full at the time of booking, your local host will advise on alternative options. In this case, you may arrive on the island earlier or later than the main group.

Your trip includes internal flights from Manila to Puerto Princesa and from Busuanga to Manila. You'll travel on either Cebu Pacific or Philippine Airlines, and you'll be allowed to travel with up to 7kg of hand luggage and 20kg of checked luggage per person.

On Day 8, there will be a free afternoon in Coron. If you are PADI certified, it's a great opportunity to opt to book a scuba diving session, which you can arrange and pay for directly with your host. If you think this is something you'd like to do, it's important to contact your host before your arrival in the country to let them know that you're interested and provide the necessary details. Your host will check that you are a certified diver and whether you have been scuba diving in the past year; this information is crucial for safety and eligibility purposes. If you have not been diving within the past year, a refresher course or tune-up session will be mandatory to ensure you are comfortable and proficient with diving procedures and equipment and your host can assist in arranging this. Once all the necessary information is provided and any required refresher courses are completed, your host will finalise the booking of your scuba diving session and send you a confirmation with details about the dive.

Your host will provide two-seater kayaks, perfect for beginners and beyond. These kayaks are lightweight, stable, and easy to manoeuvre. Their design makes it nearly impossible to tip over unless done intentionally (which you might choose to do for fun!). Before you set off your host will give you all the necessary information to use the kayaks safely.

There will be a supply of filtered drinking water available that your host will provide throughout the journey, so be sure to bring a refillable water bottle (1-2L).

Travelling in the Philippines means embracing a bit of island-time – weather, sea conditions, and local logistics can sometimes affect the schedule. Your experienced local guides know the area inside out and will always have a Plan B. Your local host will strive to follow the planned itinerary, but safety is the top priority, so if an activity has to be adjusted, shortened, or replaced, they’ll make sure you still enjoy an alternative experience.

Boat transfers are handled by independent companies that usually run on schedule, but can be delayed or cancelled at short notice due to weather or mechanical issues. Should a cancellation occur, your guide will arrange alternatives and reschedule any included activities whenever feasible.

If major itinerary changes result in significant additional costs (such as extra nights in hotels), these expenses would be the customer's responsibility, to be reimbursed through travel insurance.

Your local host will provide a suitable helmet that conforms to recognised safety standards. If you have sizing concerns, contact your local host in advance so they can advise on fit and availability.

If you wish to bring your own helmet it must be suitable for the activity and conform to recognised safety standards. Please see our Cycling safety guidance for further information.

Palawan and Coron have a tropical climate with two distinct seasons. This adventure runs during the dry season from November to May, when you can expect warm, sunny days and calm seas – ideal conditions for island hopping. Daytime temperatures usually sit between 30–33°C, dropping only slightly at night to around 23–25°C. The sea stays warm year-round at 27–30°C, making it great for snorkelling, kayaking and swimming.

Brief tropical showers are still possible during the dry season. These are usually short and pass quickly, often followed by clear skies – they are refreshing rather than disruptive. These are most likely in the quieter, shoulder-season months of November and May. January to April is considered peak season, with the most reliable sunshine and fewer showers.

We partner with the World Land Trust to ensure this trip achieves Net-Zero emissions. We also support their Buy an Acre programme, helping local communities to buy and protect natural habitats in perpetuity.

What's the number?
It works out on average at 402kg of CO2 emissions per person, including all local transport, accommodation, food, activities, guides, staff and office operations.

The only thing it doesn’t include right now is flights and travel to the destination. We do make an overall estimate across all our customers separately, but as we don’t book flights, have customers from all corners of the world, and no way of reliably knowing their travel plans, we simply can’t include an individual number in the figure on display here. We’ve got a goal to fix that, so that when you book, there is a way to measure and mitigate the carbon emitted by your flight too.

But what does the number mean?
Yep, hard to picture eh? To give you an idea:

  • Driving 1000 miles/1609km would be approximately 281kg of CO2 in an average car (or 140.5kg per person, if there were two of you in it).
  • A return economy class flight between London and New York would be approximately 1619kg (1.66 tonnes) per person.
  • 10 trees in a temperate forest are estimated to remove approximately 250kg of CO2 from the air in a period of 5-10 years.

What are we doing about it?
Our trips are relatively low-carbon by design, and we're working with all our hosts to develop long term carbon reduction plans. We partner with the World Land Trust to ensure this trip achieves Net-Zero emissions. We also support their Buy an Acre programme, helping local communities to buy and protect natural habitats in perpetuity, ensuring the protection of the reserve and its wildlife.

Want to know more?
Amazingly, no international travel company has ever publicly published their carbon measurements before, as far as we know. We believe that must change, quickly. So we’re openly sharing the method we used in the hope that other companies will be able to more easily follow suit and build on what we've done so far. You'll find it all here.
