What is the food like?

You’ll be served a continental breakfast at the hostel, while lunches and dinners will be taken at local cafes and restaurants. Most dietary needs can be catered for, just let us know when booking.

What is the accommodation like?

Isle of Skye

You’ll stay at the Cowshed Boutique Bunkhouse in the town of Uig. The hostel is brand new with excellent facilities, gorgeous sea views and has the best sunset vantage point in town.

Day 1

Loch Ness and Eilean Donan Castle

Meet your host in Inverness and head for your iconic first photo stop - Loch Ness and Eilean Donan Castle. Your expert guides will assess your photography skills and tailor the following days to take them to the next level. Continue on to the main event – the Isle of Skye. Depending on the time of year you might even get to photograph sunset before checking into your comfortable bunkhouse in the north of the island and enjoying dinner at a local restaurant.

Day 2

See the Quiraing and capture the sunset

Hiking

4-5hrs

Wake up early to explore the breath-taking scenery of the Quiraing, a mystical landscape of cliffs and pinnacles backed by the sea, caused by an ancient landslip. Hike to some of the best viewpoints on the island and spend the rest of the morning relaxing or working on your photography skills. After lunch, set out on an afternoon hike through the wild terrain of Skye before returning to the bunkhouse for the evening.

Day 3

Storr and Southern Skye

Get up for a dawn photo workshop, this time at the iconic rock pinnacles of Storr. Watch as the morning light slowly changes the colour of the towering cliff faces and then hike back to the hostel for breakfast. Take a drive through southern Skye, stopping to photograph some lesser-known sights, before finally returning home with a memory card full of incredible photographs and a whole suite of new skills.

Please Note

All our adventures take place in wild places. Things can go wrong in wild places. Your perfectly planned itinerary may change a bit (or a lot) if the weather turns, someone gets hurt, or a volcano erupts. Usually though, changes make it all the better.

You need to be able to walk unaided over mixed terrain for a couple of hours at an easy pace. You may also need to negotiate rocky shorelines which requires a reasonable sense of balance and agility.

Sure can! Over 50% of our travellers travel solo, it’s a great way to meet like-minded people.

Spring and fall temperatures in the north of Skye are generally moderate, ranging from 7 – 12 °C in May and October. It’s a little warmer in July and September, averaging 9 – 15 °C. Clear days are rare, but cloudy skies make for more interesting photographs anyway!

Skye has a very diverse and beautiful landscape, so you’ll be able to practice your skills on mountains, beaches, waterfalls, coastlines, lochs, rock formations and more.

Your instructors are award-winning photographers who have led trips on the Isle of Skye for 6 years, so they have plenty of wisdom to impart, whether you’re a new or more advanced photographer. Specific skills you can work on include long exposure, wildlife, sunrise/sunset, and seascapes.

Of course. You can leave anything you’re not using at the hostel.

All of our group adventures are especially designed for adults to enjoy (18+) as we want these adventures to bring together outdoorsy people who are truly like-minded.
