Sunday: Marjan Hill and LED Night Tour

You’ll meet your host at 08:30 in the town centre of Split and head to your base at Camping Stobreč. Get settled and prepare for your two-day challenge before being transferred to the starting point of this adventure at the base of Marjan Hill (20-minute drive).

When you arrive, the water will be waiting for you; peacefully calm. Grab your SUP board for the first part of your challenge, which will take you on a tour circumnavigating around the base of this inactive volcano.

As you paddle the still waters, you’ll hear nothing but crickets and birds; the sun will peak through the trees of the protected Marjan forest park, creating a light show of colours on the water’s surface.

You’ll have a number of stop-offs on this paddle including the oldest beach, Bene, the beautiful Kašuni beach, and the impressive cliffs of Sustipan, to name a few. Of course, these places offer some amazing photo opportunities but there’s also the chance to try some cliff jumping, or explore the sea with a snorkel.

Once you have circumnavigated the wondrous Marjan Hill, you will drive back to camp to dry out and refuel before tonight’s expedition. Here you will have some free time to relax at the campsite, have some lunch and explore the beach.

Tonight, you will paddle the Dalmatian waters by moonlight… and LED light. That’s right, as if SUP boarding wasn’t awesome enough, on this trip, your board will be equipped with underside LED lighting; now you will see everything around and beneath you while paddling.

You’ll head out on the quiet calm water as the day comes to a close, giving you an amazing view of a stunning sunset. Then, as the moon takes its place, the light show begins; the LED lighting on your board will attract small fish and jellyfish around you. It’s like snorkelling without getting into the water.

Paddling along the river and on to the sea, you will see the white rocks and cliffs in which natives have built their traditional houses. Admire the busily lit shores as you stand amidst the quiet and calm of nature.

After a 5km paddle, you’ll head back to camp for a good night’s rest ahead of tomorrow’s expedition.

Monday: SUP the Cetina River

You’ll wake this morning to the alarm call of the birds and get ready for the transfer to the beautiful small town of Omiš. The scenery here is a unique combination of sea, river and a huge mountain range; a paradise for many.

Today’s SUP challenge starts on the estuary of the turquoise Cetina River and leads through the rocky canyon where you will find yourself surrounded by huge mountains and forest.

Ready for the rest, you’ll stop off for a Mediterranean lunch at the small quaint riverside restaurant Radmanove Mlinice; a converted stone watermill nestled in the trees. The river here is a little colder making it a popular spot for locals to take a dip as they believe the temperature has positive health benefits – why not try it yourself after lunch?

After a rejuvenating rest in the lush forest surrounding, you’ll jump back on your SUP board and take an effortless glide along the calm river to Omiš, and the end of your journey.

13km paddle

Please Note

All our adventures take place in wild places. Things can go wrong in wild places. Your perfectly planned itinerary may change a bit (or a lot) if the weather turns, someone gets hurt, or a volcano erupts. Usually though, changes make it all the better.

You will stay in a mobile home at Camping Stobreč. The accommodation is comfortable and will sleep two or four people. Each mobile home is equipped with a kitchen, bathroom, satellite TV, air conditioning, and a terrace. Bed linen and one small towel per person will be provided.

Camping Stobreč is situated within a green oasis, surrounded by the sea on two sides and the Žrnovnica river mouth on the third.

The site has a small restaurant, pool and massage service within its grounds.

Split sits on Croatia’s Southern Dalmatian coast and is a town known for its beaches.
