Incredibly varied, organized, gorgeous, delicious, fun, relaxing, and well-balanced tour. No two days or terrains are the same. One day you're hiking at over 5,000 meters in the snow and the next you are in the jungle. Given the tour descriptions and reviews, I expected beautiful hikes, but there were so many unexpected bonuses that really made this feel exceptional. Our group hiked a little ahead of the average pace, so we had an extra free day to pick a shared activity - we chose rafting and had an absolute blast!
Enjoy moderately challenging days of hiking, gorgeous views, swinging at the end of the world, jumping off bridges, and too much delicious food followed by afternoons and evenings spent in down-right magical accommodations including hot springs, cozy fireplaces, majestic waterfalls, morning yoga, roof-top bars, and optional spa treatments. Honestly too much to recount.
We had a small group of 6 amazing people and quickly became a little family unit with no shortage of laughs and inside jokes. Jorge (guide) and Lobito (driver/additional guide) were so much fun. Jorge's guiding style feels so effortless, fun, and relaxed, but is clearly backed by extensive planning and safety-mindedness. Jorge went above and beyond in too many ways to list here (tracking down someone's luggage the airline lost, hiking whole routes before the day began to ensure safety due to wildfires in the area, etc). Clearly a lot of thought is put into pacing and acclimatizing for the comfort of the travelers. It does not feel like a forced "tour". No one is inundating you with information, yet Jorge was able to answer any questions asked and clearly has a deep knowledge of the nature and culture of the country. Feels more like fun friends showing you around their favorite places. I cannot recommend this trip enough - one of the best weeks of my life.
