Your host runs a group transfer from Windermere on Day 1 at approximately 18:00 and a return transfer to Windermere at the end of the trip on Day 4 at 16:00. Please contact your host for more details and to sign up to the group transfer.
There are buses from Keswick to the campsite. If you are making your own way to Inside Out Camping you can take the Borrowdale Rambler bus service which runs up and down the valley from Keswick bus station to Seatoller and back. The nearest bus stop is 200m from the campsite, to the right-hand side of Seatoller Farmhouse. There is onsite parking for any guests who drive their own car to the yurts.

What is the food like?
Breakfasts at the yurts are filling with generous portions of cereal, toast and cooked breakfast (meat, vegetarian or vegan) with tea and coffee. Packed lunches include sandwiches, crisps, cake and chocolate. You'll need to bring your own snacks and drinks for the trail. Dinners are not included; you have the choice of bringing provisions with you to cook at the yurts, or you can head to a nearby pub. Options are the Langstrath Inn at Stonethwaite (approximately a mile away), or the Scafell Inn (1.5 miles away). Most people opt to eat as a group and a pub dinner will cost around £15 per person, plus extra for drinks.

What is the accommodation like?
You'll stay in traditional yurts at Inside Out Camping, nestled amongst classic Lake District scenery in the Borrowdale valley. The yurts sleep 3-4 people and come equipped with futon-style beds and bedding. The yurts have raised wooden flooring with rugs, wood burners, a large skylight, gas hobs, grill and a well-stocked kitchen. The campsite has toilets and showers a short walk from the yurts. There is no electricity and signal is limited on various mobile networks.

Settle in to your glamping spot
Make your way to your cosy yurt, which overlooks quintessential Lake District scenery. Settle in before meeting your fellow adventurers and guides in the early evening for a chat through the adventure, which kicks off tomorrow.

The adventure begins at the hamlet of Seathwaite. Your first peak is Base Brown, a Wainwright which offers a grand view of the beautiful Borrowdale Valley and the surrounding fells. Next up, it's Green Gable, which offers views across to Ennerdale and the High Stile ridge before you reach the summit. Descend to Sty Head Pass and join the Corridor Route to Lingmell and Scafell Pike, England's highest mountain. It’s then on to Broad Crag and III Crag before reaching the final peak of the day, the appropriately named Great End. Your circular route finishes back in Seathwaite.

Tackle one of the most iconic mountain routes in the UK with an epic scramble along Striding Edge to reach Helvellyn. This is a classic grade 1 scramble and you’ll be accompanied by certified and friendly scrambling leaders. With the technical sections now behind you, your route continues along the ridgeline to Lower Man, White Side, Raise and finally Stybarrow Dodd. You'll then make your way to Green Stones, enjoying stunning views of Ullswater before descending into Glenridding to complete this thrilling circuit. If time permits, you’ll have the option to take a dip in the lake or have drink in one of the many coffee shops in the village. A great finish another epic day in the mountains.
The final summit

Today you’ll venture over to a quieter part of the Lake District, the Northern Fells. The trek climbs Blencathra (also known as Saddleback) via Doddick Fell, a peaceful grassy ridge with no scrambling to the summit. There are six fell tops on the Blencathra ridge, with Hallsfell (868m) being the highest peak and your final summit of the trip. Your route continues along the summit to descend via Blease Fell and into Threlkeld village. With your trek complete you’ll have time for a celebratory toast before returning to Seathwaite with a huge sense of achievement.

We've crunched the numbers to work out the total carbon footprint of this trip, and plant enough trees to suck 2x as much back out the atmosphere.
What's the number?
It works out on average at 35kg of CO2 emissions per person, including all local transport, accommodation, food, activities, guides, staff and office operations.
The only thing it doesn’t include right now is flights and travel to the destination. We do make an overall estimate across all our customers separately, but as we don’t book flights, have customers from all corners of the world, and no way of reliably knowing their travel plans, we simply can’t include an individual number in the figure on display here. We’ve got a goal for 2022 to fix that, so that when you book, there is a way to measure and mitigate the carbon emitted by your flight too.
But what does the number mean?
Yep, hard to picture eh? To give you an idea:
- Driving 1000miles/1609km would be approx. 281kg of CO2 in an average car (or 140.5kg per person if there was 2 of you in it).
- A return economy class flight London - New York would be approx. 1,619kg (1.66 tonnes) per person.
- 10 trees in a temperate forest are estimated to remove approx. 250kg of CO2 from the air in a period of 5-10 years.
What are we doing about it?
Our trips are relatively low-carbon by design, and we're working with all our hosts to develop long term carbon reduction plans. For every person booked with us since 2016 we’re planting enough trees to suck at least 2x more carbon out the atmosphere than is emitted by their trips. All native trees, as part of amazing projects that are re-foresting degraded land, tackling the biodiversity crisis and supporting local communities at the same time. Amazingly, no international travel company has ever publicly published their carbon measurements before, as far as we know. We believe that must change, quickly. So we’re openly sharing the method we used in the hope that other companies will be able to more easily follow suit and build on what we've done so far. You'll find it all here.
You should have some previous hiking experience and ideally be used to back-to-back, long days of walking. A good level of fitness will be needed to see you through - some days you may be on your feet for as long as 9 hours, so make sure you are ready. There is a significant elevation increase and decrease every day, so if you know you have problems with your knees, please pack walking poles.
Most of the approaches and descents will be on good trails, but once you’re on the ridges the terrain gets rocky and there’s not always an established path. Footing is often loose and unsteady and there are some sections of scrambling, however, everything should be doable for the average fit hiker. The biggest challenge will be the elevation gain and long days.

Summers in the Lake District are not excessively hot or sunny - perfect for outdoor adventures. Daytime temperatures average a pleasant 19 °C, and night time temperatures cool off to 12 °C. It's the UK though, so you should be prepared for rain at any time!
You'll only need to carry a daypack each day on this trip. This can be from 15-30 litres in size depending on preference and just needs to carry some basic essentials such as water, an extra layer/waterproof, snacks and your phone or camera. Your main pack, carrying everything for the weekend, can be left in the yurt while you are out on the hikes each day.
There is a drinking water supply at the yurt camp. You'll need to fill up your own reusable water bottles or bladders to take on the hikes with you, so ensure you bring enough capacity. We recommend at least 2 litres worth of carrying capacity.

Travel insurance is compulsory on all of our adventures. Your insurance should include adequate protection for overseas medical treatment, evacuation/repatriation, your baggage and equipment and the specific activities involved on your adventure.
Your insurance policy should also include specific Covid-19 cover, including cancellation and curtailment cover if you, your travel companion or a close relative are diagnosed with Covid-19.
