Key Information
Day 1
Set sail from Mykonos

Sailing
Arrive into Mykonos and make your way to the marina. Get your first glimpses of your catamaran home for the next week while meeting your skipper, hostess and fellow adventurers. Once everyone’s on board and briefed, you’ll ease into island time with a short afternoon sail to a sheltered anchorage, where you can dive in for your first swim. Expect a relaxed first evening, with sundowners on deck as the light fades and dinner on board the boat as you settle into the rhythm of life on the water for the week ahead.
Day 2
Rinia’s clear waters and on to Paros

Sailing
Hiking
Roll out of your cabin to take in your first overnight anchor spot. Mornings on a sailing trip in the Greek Islands are peaceful and blissful – grab a swim first thing, or relax watching the sun rise before tucking into breakfast on deck. Your skipper will set sail south to the uninhabited island of Rinia, renowned for its clear water and quiet bays. You'll drop anchor here for a dreamy swim, paddleboard or snorkel straight off the back of the boat, then enjoy lunch on board before continuing towards Paros. Depending on conditions, you might stretch your legs with a coastal walk out to a lighthouse viewpoint or hop in the power RIB to head into Naousa’s harbour for a wander and dinner ashore. Return to the catamaran for the night, anchored under a big Cycladic sky.
Day 3
Into the Small Cyclades

Sailing
Hiking
Today you head further south into the Small Cyclades – a scattering of low-key islands that feel a world away from the busier hotspots. Sailing distances each day of this trip are kept manageable, mixing relaxed passages with swim stops and short RIB hops into smaller coves and tiny ports. The freedom of access that the RIB opens up allows you to find some hidden gems throughout the trip. There’s time today for a gentle hike to a viewpoint, a long lunch on board and, if conditions allow, a snorkel over a WWII seaplane wreck. By late afternoon you’ll be moored in a quiet bay or small harbour, with dinner today taken either on board or in a simple local taverna, depending on how the group is feeling.
Day 4
Slow travel, island style

Sailing
Hiking
Another day exploring the Small Cyclades at an unhurried pace lies ahead. By now, you will be firmly settled into the rhythm of life on a Greek islands sailing trip: wake, swim, eat, relax, explore, eat, relax some more... and repeat! The exact route throughout the trip is shaped by the wind and sea conditions, with your skipper choosing the best anchorages and short sailing legs for comfort. With a healthy balance of activity and downtime, today you might expect a morning walk along a coastal path, a swim in luminous water, and some downtime to read or stretch out on the flybridge as you cruise to the next stop. Enjoy another sociable and relaxed evening with a Greek feast on board, or a jaunt to a taverna, depending on where the wind has blown you to this evening.
Day 5
Koufonisia trail and sail to Naxos

Sailing
Hiking
One of the Cyclades' true gems is on the menu today, as you take the power RIB ashore on Koufonisia to walk its famous south-to-north coastal trail. Koufonisia is an Aegean dream: stunning turquoise waters and white-sand beaches, but with a quiet and serene atmosphere. Walking the easy but beautiful trail you'll pass sea caves, natural pools and white rock formations shaped by the wind. Koufonisia is dotted with traditional Greek tavernas serving fresh fish and warm hospitality, with a slower pace in this part of the Cyclades which feels a world away from modern life. Enjoy a swim and a laid-back lunch in a taverna, taking it all in before regrouping on board as you sail on towards Naxos, stopping en route to swim into Rina Cave if sea conditions allow. Enjoy a golden-hour sail before anchoring near Naxos Town or in a sheltered bay for the night.
Day 6
Discover Naxos

Sailing
Naxos is the largest, greenest, and most fertile island in the Cyclades, rich in mountain villages and ancient sites and offers a different feel to the islands visited so far on the trip. Today is designed as a flexible exploration day to soak up Naxos however you like. You might head inland for a hike to stone-built villages and hilltop viewpoints, wander the old town’s narrow alleys and visit the Venetian castle, or spend time on one of the island’s long sandy beaches. Your skipper and hostess know all the best spots and will guide you accordingly, depending on the weather and group's preferences. In the evening, you'll get together for a sumptuous dinner in Naxos Town (also known as Chora), the vibrant capital and main port of Naxos island.
Day 7
Delos and a final sail

Sailing
Turn north for your final full day, cruising towards Delos – according to legend, the birthplace of Apollo. If conditions are good for heading ashore, you can visit the archaeological site by RIB or simply enjoy the surrounding waters with swims and paddleboarding. This last day of the trip is about soaking it all in – one more sail, one more swim stop, one final sunset on deck. Your last dinner of the trip is served on board this evening, with time to toast, celebrate and reflect on all the explorations of the past week as the boat rests at an anchor spot near Mykonos.
Day 8
Return to Mykonos

Sailing
After an early breakfast, sail back to Mykonos where it all began a week ago. You'll disembark at Tourlos Port, bidding a fond farewell to your skipper and hostess who have guided you safely around the islands. Hop in a taxi back to Mykonos Airport in time for any onward flights, or you can also catch onward ferries (to other islands or to Athens) from Tourlos Port. If you are flying today from Mykonos Airport, you'll need to book a flight departing no earlier than 13:00 – see the 'Getting There' section for more info on timings.

What is the food like?

Food on this trip is a mix of fresh meals on board prepared by your host, and some relaxed affairs in local tavernas on the islands. Your hostess will prepare breakfasts and lunches using seasonal produce and Greek staples. For breakfasts you can expect Greek yoghurt with honey and nuts, fresh fruit, breads and pastries, eggs, olives and good tomatoes. Lunches can include Greek salad with feta, dakos (Cretan-style tomato and barley rusk salad), lentil soup, grilled veg, fish dishes and easy mezze spreads with tzatziki and taramasalata. When you eat ashore, you’ll delve into the classic world of Greek taverna dining, truly one of life's great pleasures. If you're a fan of seafood you can try grilled calamari or whole fish from that day's catch, with other meat and vegetarian options such as saganaki, dolmades, souvlaki and slow-cooked stifado being ever-present, alongside piles of lemony potatoes and local greens.
If you have any dietary requirements, intolerances or allergies, please check the FAQ below: ‘Can my dietary requirements be catered for on this adventure?’ for specific advice relating to this trip. The availability of foods you may get at home varies in different destinations, so please read the FAQ in full before making your booking to ensure that this trip can accommodate your dietary needs.
What is the accommodation like?

Standout Stay: kick back aboard a luxury sailboat
You’ll spend seven nights on a 45ft Lagoon 450F catamaran, designed for maximum comfort and privacy, with a skipper and hostess in separate crew cabins. There are four ensuite cabins on the catamaran, each with its own toilet and separate standing shower, plus air conditioning in the cabins and saloon for warmer days. The cabins can accommodate twin-share for friends or solo travellers booking this trip, or doubles for any couples. There’s loads of space to spread out on board, with a 360-degree flybridge with sea views, a shaded cockpit area for long breakfasts and sunset drinks, and a bow lounge area for reading, dozing or watching the coastline slide by. The boat also carries two stand-up paddleboards and good quality snorkelling kit, and you’ll be supported by a dedicated power RIB for quick hops to shore and to reach the best swim spots of your life.
Upgrades
This trip runs in the Cyclades shoulder seasons (March–April and October–November), so expect mild days, cooler evenings and the odd splash of rain, especially later in autumn. Average air temperatures on Mykonos sit around 13°C (56°F) in March and 15°C (59°F) in April, rising to 19°C (67°F) in October before cooling to 16°C (61°F) in November. Sea temperatures are cooler in spring and warmer in autumn: around 15°C (59°F) in March, 16°C (61°F) in April, 21°C (70°F) in October and 19°C (66°F) in November. Sailing-wise, you’re outside the peak Meltemi months (Meltemi are the strong, dry, northerly winds which blow across the Aegean Sea from May to September), so sailing conditions are generally for favourable in the shoulder seasons. However, the Aegean can still be windy and exact plans may shift to find the best shelter.
We’re still waiting to collect any reviews from other travellers on this trip. However, all our hosts go through an extensive vetting process to ensure that your adventure is awesome.

We partner with the World Land Trust to ensure this trip achieves Net-Zero emissions. We also support their Buy an Acre programme, helping local communities to buy and protect natural habitats in perpetuity.
What's the number?
It works out on average at 169kg of CO2 emissions per person, including all local transport, accommodation, food, activities, guides, staff and office operations.
The only thing it doesn’t include right now is flights and travel to the destination. We do make an overall estimate across all our customers separately, but as we don’t book flights, have customers from all corners of the world, and no way of reliably knowing their travel plans, we simply can’t include an individual number in the figure on display here. We’ve got a goal to fix that, so that when you book, there is a way to measure and mitigate the carbon emitted by your flight too.
But what does the number mean?
Yep, hard to picture eh? To give you an idea:
- Driving 1000 miles/1609km would be approximately 281kg of CO2 in an average car (or 140.5kg per person, if there were two of you in it).
- A return economy class flight between London and New York would be approximately 1619kg (1.66 tonnes) per person.
- 10 trees in a temperate forest are estimated to remove approximately 250kg of CO2 from the air in a period of 5-10 years.
What are we doing about it?
Our trips are relatively low-carbon by design, and we're working with all our hosts to develop long term carbon reduction plans. We partner with the World Land Trust to ensure this trip achieves Net-Zero emissions. We also support their Buy an Acre programme, helping local communities to buy and protect natural habitats in perpetuity, ensuring the protection of the reserve and its wildlife.
Want to know more?
Amazingly, no international travel company has ever publicly published their carbon measurements before, as far as we know. We believe that must change, quickly. So we’re openly sharing the method we used in the hope that other companies will be able to more easily follow suit and build on what we've done so far. You'll find it all here.
This is a relaxed, small-group sailing trip around the Cyclades, with a mix of short sailing legs, swim stops and time ashore. You’ll typically spend a few hours sailing each day, broken up with coastal walks, beach visits and exploring villages. The exact route is flexible and shaped by wind and sea conditions, with your skipper adapting plans to find the best spots each day.
At Much Better Adventures, we work hard to accommodate dietary requirements and allergies so your trip is safe, inclusive and enjoyable. That said, options can vary by country, location and accommodation, and in some places options may be limited or unavailable. The information below has been provided by your host so you’re fully informed about what will be possible on your trip depending on your individual requirements. This information should be read carefully prior to your trip to ensure that you are adequately prepared for the situation ‘on the ground’.
Once you have booked on your trip, please fill out your passenger information form ASAP with any dietary requirements. Once you complete your passenger information, your dietary needs and any allergies are automatically shared with your host and, in turn, your guide. Please submit this as early as possible so they can plan accordingly and deliver the best experience. Please also remind your guide about your dietary requirements upon arrival, as mentioning these in person allows your guide to comprehend individual preferences and limitations as soon as you arrive.
BACKGROUND
Greek cuisine is rooted in simple, seasonal ingredients and a strong culture of sharing food. Meals are typically built around fresh vegetables, grains, olive oil, cheese, seafood and grilled meats, with dishes often served as small plates to be shared. Across the islands, you can expect classic staples such as Greek salad, bread, olives, yoghurt, pulses and a variety of mezze, alongside freshly caught fish and simply prepared meat dishes.
In general, Greece is a good destination for most dietary requirements, particularly vegetarian diets, thanks to the wide use of vegetables, legumes and dairy. Vegan, gluten-free and lactose-free options are increasingly available, though choices can be more limited in smaller villages and on remote islands, where menus are shorter and more traditional. Flexibility is important, as substitutions are not always possible and dishes may be prepared in shared kitchens.
On this trip, meals are a mix of food prepared on board and dinners in local tavernas. Your host team can accommodate the dietary requirements outlined below, but exact options may vary depending on location and availability of ingredients.

ALLERGIES
Our host has confirmed that they are able to accommodate mild allergies to the 14 allergens identified by the UK Food Standards Agency, where these are disclosed in advance. However, if you have a severe or life-threatening food allergy, please get in touch with our Customer Experience team prior to booking to discuss whether your requirements can be accommodated safely on this trip. This will allow us to carefully consider the sensitivity and severity of your allergy, the available provision on the trip and the accessibility of medical care should a reaction occur. Your safety is always our top priority. Please note that when travelling overseas, local ingredients, food preparation methods and labelling standards may vary, particularly in remote areas. It is also worth noting that any allergies may result in more limited options and repetitive provision in some areas. Whilst your guide will help communicate dietary requirements where possible, customers remain responsible for managing their own allergies during the trip.
On many Greek islands, including parts of the Cyclades that you'll visit on this trip, tap water is safe from a health perspective but not always pleasant to drink, as it can be desalinated or mineral-heavy, affecting the taste. Filtered drinking water is therefore provided on board the catamaran throughout the trip. You should bring along a refillable water bottle to fill up from the catamaran's supply for anytime you dock and head off to explore the islands on land.
On this trip you’ll stay on a premium catamaran with a skipper and hostess, sleeping in en-suite twin or double cabins. There’s plenty of shared space to relax, including shaded deck areas and a flybridge, plus spots to swim straight from the boat. Life on board is sociable but easy-going, with a balance of time together and space to unwind.
You'll have an experienced skipper and hostess on board the boat for the entire week.
Most people can enjoy a sailing trip in the Greek Islands without encountering bad seasickness. This is especially so on a catamaran, since these are more stable than a traditional sailing boat. Conditions in the Cyclades are generally good for sailing during spring and autumn when this trips runs; however, the sea can still be choppy at times. If you know that you are prone to seasickness, it’s worth bringing medication just in case. Your skipper is an experienced sailor with many years of running group sailing trips in the Greek Islands, so they'll use their expertise to ensure the best experience possible.
It is possible to store luggage at Mykonos Airport at Drop & Go Mykonos.
Your host has spent many, many years operating sailing trips in many parts of the Greek Islands, with a particular focus on and experience in the Cyclades archipelago. In the event that weather conditions – especially strong winds – could negatively impact your experience, your skipper may need to adjust the itinerary accordingly, in favour of your well-being and the overall quality of the trip. This may involve altering the route and timing crossings based on the forecast for the week. This is all part of a real sailing experience in the Cyclades!
Sure can! Over 70% of our travellers travel solo, it’s a great way to meet like-minded people.
