Key Information

Day 1

Welcome to Jordan

City view with mosque, Madaba, Jordan. Photo: iStock-1139064490

You'll be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel in central Madaba. You're free to check in after 14:00, and the rest of the day is yours to explore the ancient city at your leisure.

Day 2

Dana Nature Reserve

Dana Reserve, Jordan. Photo: Commissioned/Tom Barker

Driving

3.5hrs

Hiking

5hrs · 12km · 250m up · 800m down

After breakfast and a chance to meet your fellow adventurers, it's time for your briefing. Head south to Dana Nature Reserve, one of Jordan’s often-overlooked gems. Today’s hike follows the Shaq al Reesh Trail (or a similar route), a circular path starting from Al-Barrah and winding through a narrow siq before opening out into rugged, rocky landscapes. Expect dramatic cliffs, scattered springs and traces of ancient settlements along the way. By evening, you’ll reach your first Bedouin camp, tucked into a quiet desert valley near Little Petra. As dusk settles, watch the sun drop behind the sandstone peaks and the stars emerge overhead - a peaceful end to your first day in the Jordanian highlands.

Day 3

The backdoor to Petra

The 'backdoor' entrance to Petra, Jordan.

Hiking

6hrs · 14km · 500m up · 520m down

After an early breakfast, it's time to start your journey through Petra. You'll cross the desert and pass through Wadi Ghurab amidst the sandstone mountains that guard the approach to Petra. Continue via a Nabataean route that skirts the final mountain on a natural rock terrace. You'll soon reach a hidden plateau high above the impressive chasm of Wadi Siyyagh. The monastery suddenly comes into view as you follow the steps down to ancient Petra, where you'll have time to soak it all in and learn about its ancient past.

Day 4

Head to Wadi Rum and climb Jordan’s highest peak

Wadi Rum, Jordan, at night. Photo: iStock-504118932

Driving

4.5hrs

Hiking

4hrs · 4km · 400m up · 400m down

Head to the unique desert landscape of Wadi Rum, where you'll hop into a desert truck for the hour’s drive to the foot of Um Ad Dami (1800m) – the highest peak in Jordan. Hike up to the summit, from which the panorama is spectacular – to the south, you can see the border to Saudi Arabia and to the north, Jebel Rum. You'll descend to a remote Bedouin camp to relax and marvel at the stars in the clear desert night. Dinner here is a real experience – you’ll be served zarb, a delicious traditional dish cooked for 4-5 hours on hot coals under the ground.

Day 5

Wadi Rum to the Red Sea

Hikers walking through the red sand landscape of Wadi Rum in Jordan.

Hiking

2hrs · 5km · 150m up · 150m down

After breakfast you’ll bid farewell to your Bedouin hosts and head off for two short hikes through two of Wadi Rum's most beautiful canyons: Um Ishreen and Barrah - with mesmerising multi-coloured cliffs and towers flanking the flat sandy sections, greener plant-rich areas and dunes. Hop back in the van and leave Wadi Rum for the coast, reaching Aqaba in the early afternoon for a well-deserved dip in the Red Sea. Aqaba is a lively, bustling spot and your guide will suggest the best restaurants for lunch and dinner. In the afternoon you'll visit the Berenice Beach Club with full use of the pools and beach where you can swim straight from the shore.

Day 6

Explore the Red Sea's famous reefs

Snorkelling Red Sea Jordan

Snorkelling

3hrs

Head off this morning to the yacht club of Aqaba, hop onboard a specialist diving and snorkelling boat and set off on the glistening Red Sea. Your skipper will take you to several beautiful areas to snorkel over the Red Sea's world-renowned coral reefs with a diverse array of marine life to gaze at. Tuck into lunch on deck before more time below the surface in the afternoon. During breaks from snorkelling and swimming you can sunbathe and relax on the boat's sun deck. Enjoy some afternoon downtime and a free evening to take your pick of the local restaurants for a sundowner and dinner as that salty-skin feeling lingers into the night.

Day 7

To the Dead Sea

Swimming

2hrs

Driving

5hrs

Tuck into one last breakfast overlooking the Red Sea before hopping in the van for a road trip over to Jordan's other famous body of water - the Dead Sea, the lowest point on Earth. Spend the afternoon floating, swimming and relaxing in the waters known for their healing qualities, perhaps try an invigorating mud bath to cleanse the skin or get a spa treatment before driving the final stretch back to Amman. Tonight is the final night of your epic adventure, so find a good restaurant and toast the incredible memories made over the past week.

Jordanian Lunch: Host/Experience Jordan

For breakfast, expect a buffet typical of 3-star hotel breakfasts all over the world. Lunches will generally be either a packed lunch or buffet style. Where this isn't included it will cost approx $10pp. Dinner (where not included) will be at local restaurants and will cost approx $15-$20pp. Your guide will be with you to make suggestions of where to eat and when to arrange group meals.

For dinner in the Bedouin camp on Day 2, you'll experience traditional Arabic food: either magloobah (rice with vegetables and chicken prepared in a traditional way with local spices) or mansaf (rice served with lamb and yoghurt). These dishes come with the classic accompaniments of hoummus, mtabbal (fried aubergine) and salad. Dinner at Wadi Rum on Day 4 is a real experience: here, they serve the famous zarb – rice, veggies, lamb and chicken cooked for 4-5 hours under the ground on coals, served with salads and side dishes. On the Red Sea section of the trip, you'll tuck into a delicious lunch onboard the boat in between your snorkelling adventures, while evening meals are not included, giving you some free time to explore Aqaba's many excellent restaurants - your guide will have plenty of suggestions!

Vegetarians, vegans and other dietary requirements and allergies can be catered for – please just let your host know on booking.

What is the accommodation like?

Mosaic City Hotel, Madaba, Jordan
Madaba

During your overnight stay in Madaba, you will usually be tucked up in the cosy Mosaic City Hotel. This family-run hotel offers a friendly welcome in the centre of ‘the city of mosaics’ and is within walking distance to the main sights. Occasionally the group may be accommodated at another property of a similar standard.

Upgrades

For solo travellers looking for their own space, an optional private room and tent can be booked for an extra charge, see Optional Extras for the price. Please request this at the time of booking (this is subject to availability).

Little Petra Bedouin Camp

You’ll spend one night in a Bedouin desert fixed camp in Little Petra, just 5km from Petra itself. Each spacious tent is furnished with beds, mattresses, blankets and pillows, with showers and toilets available nearby. You'll be treated to traditional Bedouin cuisine for dinner, and the camp is the perfect place for a spot of star-gazing and watching the sun rise the next morning.

Rooftop of La Maison Hotel, Petra, Jordan
Petra

In Petra, you'll usually stay at the modern La Maison Hotel, which is situated only a five-minute walk from the ancient site of Petra. You’ll stay in twin-share, air-conditioned rooms with private bathrooms and free WiFi. The hotel has its own restaurant, as well as a roof terrace with a view of the hills surrounding Petra. Occasionally, the group may be accommodated at the Petra Palace Hotel instead, a property of a similar standard.

Rainbow Camp, Wadi Rum, Jordan - Photo: Host/Experience Jordan
Wadi Rum

Whilst in Wadi Rum you’ll stay at Rainbow Camp, a Bedouin fixed camp nestled into the vast expanse of the desert with several communal areas for dining, sitting by camp fires and chilling outside. The tents are large, square canvas tents with raised beds, mattresses and furniture in each, and there is a shower and toilet block available too. If you would like to take your mattress outside to a nearby dune to sleep under the stars, let your guide know as this can be arranged.

Aqaba

On the coast of Jordan's Red Sea you'll stay one night at the My Luxury Hotel. The hotel has a rooftop restaurant with fantastic views over the Aqaba skyline, plus an outdoor pool if you haven't had your fill of swimming the Red Sea during the day. You'll stay in twin-share rooms with ensuite bathrooms (unless you have requested a double room or a private room upgrade). Occasionally the group may be accommodated at another property of a similar standard.

Dining Room at the Toledo Hotel in Amman, Jordan
Amman

In Amman, you will usually stay at the Toledo Hotel (or similar), a modern hotel chosen for its excellent location in the heart of the city and known for its great service. You’ll stay in bright, elegant rooms that have air conditioning and WiFi, on a twin-share basis.

This trip has been rated as Moderate

A moderate level of fitness is needed to enjoy this trip. You won’t need to be super fit, but you should be in good shape and feel comfortable hiking up to 6 hours a day on often uneven ground. What’s more important is being comfortable with heights. There will be a few exposed sections, so those with vertigo may not be too comfortable. Your guide will never be far away to help you get through it, though. You won't need any snorkelling experience as full guidance is provided, and you are welcome to do as much or as little snorkelling as you like - the rest of the time you can simply chill on deck or on the beach.

What will I need to carry?

You'll only need to carry a small day rucksack with personal items, snacks and water during each day of activity. Your main luggage will be transported for you.

Jordan's climate is characterised by long, hot and dry summers, and short, cool winters. The climate is influenced by Jordan’s location between the subtropical aridity of the Arabian desert areas and the subtropical humidity of the eastern Mediterranean area.

The optimal seasons to explore Jordan are March to May, and September to December, when the temperature is comfortably warm but not scorching hot! The daytime temperatures during these times are around 23-27°C, and the nights are cooler, but not cold.

Travelling in December will be cooler, but it also means that the main sites (such as Petra) are far quieter. While the days are usually sunny and around 15-20°C, the nights can be very cold in the desert, and on occasion drop to near zero. Your reward is crisp, clear night skies in the desert.

What a week!! This trip exceeded every expectation, and I cannot recommend it enough.

Everything was so well organised, and the itinerary just kept delivering one incredible experience after another. Lots of credit to Furat, our guide—always so positive, knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely dedicated to making sure we were taken care of. And most importantly… he always made sure we were well fed! 🙂

An unforgettable trip from start to finish.

It was truly an incredible, flawlessly organized adventure!

A special acknowledgment must go to our local team, especially our guide Furat and driver Mahomad. Their professionalism, and knowledge of the country made the logistics feel seamless and Furat's love for the country really brought the history of Jordan to life.

The highlights for me was Watching the sun set and rise over the dunes in Wadi Rum. The sheer scale and beauty of Petra, especially the view we got after the hike, comfortable accommodation and friendly hosts, and taste of local food.

Every detail, from the transportation to the thoughtfully chosen itinerary, was perfectly executed. Thank you for delivering a truly much better adventure. I can't wait to book my next trip with you!

An amazing trip!

This was one of the best trips I’ve been on, the activities were so varied and packed it felt like I was on holiday for a lot longer than a week! Our guide Furat was brilliant; organised, fun, and full of energy. The group were all lovely and such interesting people. Petra and Wadi Rum were spectacular and the chance to snorkel as a beginner was great. The accommodation was high quality throughout and the food was plentiful and tasty. I couldn’t recommend this trip enough and hope I’ll be back in Jordan in the future!

This was an awe-inspiring adventure, organised incredibly well between the local guide, driver and hosts.

Activities were not too strenuous but a few fun scrambles here and there on the hikes, and a few activity upgrades/additions on offer that were well worth taking!

The tour moves at quite a nice pace with the last few days being a bit more laid-back.

Food was also great (a lot of hummus!). Mostly delicious local/national dishes but some restaurants also offer more 'familiar' food (steak, fish&chips etc) if that's more your thing - just ask your guide!

One of our hotels got changed last-minute based on previous groups' feedback. Didn't see the original hotel but the replacement was very nice. It's reassuring to see MBA and the local team adapt quickly like that.

Zero complaints. Loved it!

This was a fantastic trip, it far exceeded my expectations and I have created some wonderful memories. Furat, our guide was outstanding, nothing was too much trouble for him and we had bonus activities, like lunch in a family home and camel riding in the desert to watch sunrise. Star gazing in Wadi Rum was also very special. Food and accommodation were both excellent

An amazing adventure in the most incredible country. From start to finish everything was seamlessly organised and the trip itinerary is perfectly planned – every day was packed with new landscapes, cultural experiences and a sense of adventure. I don’t think there are many other trips which will have you on a camel ride at sunrise, exploring desert canyons, scaling sand dunes and scuba diving in the red sea by sunset all within one day!

A definite highlight of this trip was the time spent in Wadi Rum – the landscape is like nothing else I’ve ever experienced and watching the sunset and stargazing from the overnight stay in the Bedouin camp felt magical and is something I’ll never forget.

Another standout of this trip is the people. The hospitality and warmth of the Jordanian culture is unmatched and we were made to feel welcomed and at home in every place we visited. Our guide, Furat, really made the trip, he kept us laughing the whole time and his knowledge and passion for the country and history is incredible. He made sure thar our trip ran effortlessly, alongside our driver, Ahmad, and local guides in Dana and Wadi Rum. I feel very lucky to have spent my time in Jordan in such great company, alongside a great group of like-minded travellers.

A big shout out to Furat and my other adventurers for making this trip so unforgettable!

This has definitely been one of the best travel experiences I've had! Jordan is a country that keeps on giving: abundant food, mesemerising nature, breathtaking trails, welcoming people, hospitality, activities for everyone, clean and comfortable accommodation and many more.

What made this trip so unique was the itinerary, a very good mixture of activities (hiking, desert trucks, camel rides, snorkeling, scuba diving, beach fun) and downtime (sunsets, stargazing, beach club).

The trip wouldn't have been the same without the people I travelled with. We were a diverse group who gelled together in no time, bringing lots of fun, laughs, but also a lot of support and encouragement to try new things. A special mention is due to our guide Furat, he made this trip one for the books. His undeniable love for his country was evident every time he spoke about it. Top tier organisational skills, unlimited patience and a backpack full of snacks to share with everyone. What more could you ask for?

There is not one thing I could fault, except for having to go back home at the end of it. I would do it again in a heartbeat!

Seven days through the wonders of Jordan
Seven days through the wonders of Jordan
Seven days through the wonders of Jordan
Seven days through the wonders of Jordan

An exotic journey packed with images, emotions, and experiences in a country so different from what we are used to. In just one week, we managed to see the greatest highlights of this welcoming and beautiful land: the otherworldly calm of the desert, the unique wonder of Petra, the surreal Dead Sea, and the Red Sea with its incredible marine life visible even just a few metres from shore. Add to that plenty of delicious food, and you already have the recipe for a trip of a lifetime.

But what truly made this experience unforgettable was our guide, Furat: an absolute phenomenon. He took care of every detail, watched over us constantly, and made sure we had the best tips even for the free hours when some of us explored on our own. He gave us insights into Jordanian life, culture, and everyday reality, helping us understand and appreciate the country far beyond the typical tourist experience. By the end of the trip, we all felt we were travelling not just with a guide, but with a good friend who was proudly showing us the beauty of his country.

I feel blessed to have experienced such a truly memorable journey, and it is one I would recommend without hesitation.

The Adventure of a Lifetime in Beautiful Jordan

My trip to Jordan was better than anything I could have imagined. It’s a stunning country with beautiful food, warm people, and an itinerary crafted to perfection. Somehow, every single day offered a completely different adventure.

The food throughout the week was varied and absolutely delicious. My personal favourite was the Musakhan — homemade by a charming Jordanian family who welcomed us into their home for lunch. It was one of those meals you never forget.

The standout highlight was the breathtaking walk through desert and mountains before Petra revealed itself in the distance — an unforgettable moment. But my personal favourite day was waking up in the Wadi Rum desert, taking a camel ride to watch the sunrise, and then ending the day scuba diving and watching the sunset on a Red Sea beach. You can’t ask for more from a single day!

Furat was an incredible and patient host, enhancing every experience with his knowledge, humour, and calm encouragement. Every guide and host we met was a credit to the company, and a special shout-out to our driver Ahmed, who was always there on time and ready to take us to the next adventure.

I felt absolutely spoilt for a whole week — not just by Jordan itself, but by the fantastic, diverse group of like-minded travellers. We started as strangers and left as friends.

As someone who isn’t particularly fit, I found some parts of the hiking challenging, but with motivation from Furat, support from the group, and the inspiring views around every corner, every step was worth it. The sense of achievement is huge.

And if you’ve never scuba dived before, don’t let that stop you — I hadn’t either! You can do test dives with professional, reassuring instructors who look after you the entire time. The coral and sea life beneath the Red Sea is incredible, and I highly recommend giving it a go.

I can’t encourage anyone enough to book this tour. You’ll come home with memories that will last a lifetime. I already can’t wait to plan my next adventure.

What an experience!!

If anyone is wondering whether this trip is for them, book it as you’ll love it! Jordan is a stunning country and during the week we were shown the very best of it. Mahmood is a lovely, knowledgeable guide and worked really hard to make it such a success. The food was absolutely delicious, the scenery stunning, Petra was breathtaking, hiking the highest peak was incredible, the local guides were great, sunrise, sunsets and stars beautiful, amazing coral and fish snorkelling and the Dead Sea great fun. A great group of people on the trip, ranging in ages from 30’s to one in their 60’s, all of which made it a really special and memorable experience.

Everything about this trip exceeded my expectations.

I absolutely loved exploring Petra, with its fascinating history and stunning hikes. The snorkelling was fantastic too, such an amazing way to experience another side of Jordan.

Our guide Mahmood, was exceptional. He’s clearly passionate about his country, incredibly knowledgeable about Jordan’s history, and was always attentive, ensuring everyone was comfortable and well-fed throughout the trip.

We also had a fantastic group, so many laughs, great conversations, and memories that I’ll never forget. It truly made the experience even more special.

This was my second MBA experience, and I will most definitely be booking more trips in the future!

I would 100% recommend this experience to anyone who loves adventure, hiking, history, and culture. Jordan completely blew me away!

Fantastic tour of Jordan's highlights. Petra and Wadi Rum exceeded already high expectations. Physical activity is indeed moderate -- not too strenuous, but best to be in at least decent condition for some of the hiking. Our guide Mahmoud took what would have been a baseline very good traveling experience to the next level: knowledgeable about a whole range of interesting topics, passionate about the country, and full of patience, energy, and humor.

I had such an amazing trip to Jordan! It wasn’t near as crowded as I expected - we showed up to the back door of Petra and there was hardly anyone there (which was great for photos, of course). I loved Wadi Rum - the landscape is incredible. Riding on the camels for sunrise was also amazing. Red Sea was also fun and I enjoyed the boat ride. The Dead Sea was the icing on the cake for a great week. Truly a bucket list experience!!

I have to give a shout out to our guide Ahlem! She truly felt like a friend I’ve known forever. She was fun, well organized, went out of her way to help me find some artisanal gifts I wanted to take back home.

If I could change anything about the trip I would choose 2 nights in Wadi Rum and only one at the Red Sea. The Red Sea days felt repetitive and there was much more to see in the desert! Also, I would aim to hike more in the AM and travel to new locations during the hot parts of the day.

It was a great experience being in Jordan with a well curated trip by MBA. Our guide Ahlam was wonderful. Many great recommendations and she took care to suggest restaurants and other things to do in Jordan not associated either with our tour. All accommodations were top notch especially the Bedouin camp sites. Highly recommend.

Amazing journey!

This was an amazing journey and adventure. I loved that the group was small, that the trip was active and the ability to enjoy the natural environment. Our guide was lovely and very knowledgeable.

One of my best adventures to date! Booked based on a friends recommendation who had also been to Jordan with MBA. From Amman, to Petra, hiking the highest point in Jordan, wadi rum, Aqaba and the Dead Sea. It’s an incredible all round with a huge variety seen in a week. Our tour guide Dalia was incredible, best tour guide ever so knowledgeable, sweet, fun and caring to all including all the sweet animals we met along the way! Highly recommended! The hikes aren’t difficult however with the heat during the summer months make the hikes understandably harder

Unforgettable Hiking & Snorkelling Adventure in Jordan!

We just got back from our incredible hiking and snorkelling trip in Jordan, and I can’t recommend it enough. Our host, Ahlam, was amazing — super friendly, fun, and full of great local recommendations that made the trip extra special.

The locations we visited felt super safe and peaceful, with barely any tourists around, which made the experience even better. The hikes were stunning, with amazing views and hidden gems along the way, and the snorkelling / diving spots were beautiful and full of life.

If you’re looking for a unique adventure that’s full of nature and culture, this is 100% worth it. Huge thanks to Ahlam for making it all so memorable!

Incredible!

We have a wonderful trip through the delights of Jordan, led by a fabulous guide, Dalia. In a small group of 6 of us, we were able to explore the best that the country has to offer. We loved every varied minute and it was a trip that exceeded our expectations every day. Lovely people, wonderfully interesting and diverse, a great adventure which we would highly recommend. (We benefitted from the downtick in tourists to the area, allowing us to enjoy Jordan in very small numbers).

Tips

Tips are not included in the trip cost. These are entirely at your discretion but there is an expectation to tip for good service. Your guide can help with advice; however, we suggest the below as a guideline:

  • Guide: $5+ per person, per day
  • Driver: $3+ per person, per day
  • Local guides: $3+ per person, per guide
  • Hotel porters: $2 per person, per day
  • Restaurants: £1 per person
  • Jeep drivers: $2 per person

Of course, you are free to tip more or less and the amount should be reflective of your perception of service and quality – a tip is not compulsory and should only be given when you receive excellent service.

Travel insurance

Travel insurance is compulsory for all of our adventures, and you'll need to provide your policy details before departure. Your insurance should offer adequate cover for overseas medical treatment, evacuation/repatriation, your baggage and equipment, and the specific activities involved in your adventure. We also recommend ensuring your policy includes cancellation and curtailment cover, in case you're unable to join your trip due to unforeseen circumstances such as illness.

Standard travel insurance may not cover all the activities included in your adventure, so it's essential to check the details carefully. There are adventure-specific providers that many travellers have used in the past, such as True Traveller (for those based in the UK or Europe), or Rise + Shield, both of which offer cover for a wide range of adventurous activities.

Please make sure your chosen policy meets your individual needs and covers all aspects of your trip.

Visas

Visa requirements often change, and you are responsible for obtaining any required visas for this trip. Please check with your nearest embassy or consulate for up-to-date advice, or contact the Jordan Tourism Board for updates specific to your nationality.

Most travellers need a visa to visit Jordan, but the process is simple and flexible. There are two main ways to get your visa:

  • Visa on arrival: many nationalities (including UK, US, EU, Canada, Australia and New Zealand) can obtain a single-entry visa on arrival at Queen Alia International Airport in Amman, or at designated land borders. The fee is 40 JOD (approximately $56). Queues can be long during busy periods.

  • E-visa: There is an option to apply for a visa online before travelling via the Jordan e-visa portal. Approval online is usually quick, however it won’t generally save you any time on arrival, as you’ll still have to join the same queue to get your passport stamped.

Personal Expenses

You know your own spending habits best, so please budget an appropriate amount for things like optional meals and drinks, shopping, optional activities, and laundry.

We partner with the World Land Trust to ensure this trip achieves Net-Zero emissions. We also support their Buy an Acre programme, helping local communities to buy and protect natural habitats in perpetuity.

What's the number?
It works out on average at 444kg of CO2 emissions per person, including all local transport, accommodation, food, activities, guides, staff and office operations.

The only thing it doesn’t include right now is flights and travel to the destination. We do make an overall estimate across all our customers separately, but as we don’t book flights, have customers from all corners of the world, and no way of reliably knowing their travel plans, we simply can’t include an individual number in the figure on display here. We’ve got a goal to fix that, so that when you book, there is a way to measure and mitigate the carbon emitted by your flight too.

But what does the number mean?
Yep, hard to picture eh? To give you an idea:

  • Driving 1000 miles/1609km would be approximately 281kg of CO2 in an average car (or 140.5kg per person, if there were two of you in it).
  • A return economy class flight between London and New York would be approximately 1619kg (1.66 tonnes) per person.
  • 10 trees in a temperate forest are estimated to remove approximately 250kg of CO2 from the air in a period of 5-10 years.

What are we doing about it?
Our trips are relatively low-carbon by design, and we're working with all our hosts to develop long term carbon reduction plans. We partner with the World Land Trust to ensure this trip achieves Net-Zero emissions. We also support their Buy an Acre programme, helping local communities to buy and protect natural habitats in perpetuity, ensuring the protection of the reserve and its wildlife.

Want to know more?
Amazingly, no international travel company has ever publicly published their carbon measurements before, as far as we know. We believe that must change, quickly. So we’re openly sharing the method we used in the hope that other companies will be able to more easily follow suit and build on what we've done so far. You'll find it all here.

Yes, you can definitely book last minute, although this trip does regularly sell out, so we recommend booking early to guarantee your spot on the trip. If requesting a spot less than 31 days in advance, the host will need to check accommodation availability before accepting your booking (please do not buy flights until your booking has been confirmed by the host).

Ramadan will take place from around Tuesday 17th February to Wednesday 18th March in 2026, with exact dates to be confirmed. The national holiday of Eid ul-Fitr will follow for 2-3 days. Ramadan is an Islamic festival where the religious do not eat or drink during daylight hours. While this is a really interesting time to travel, you can expect some business hours will be shortened, alcohol is not permitted during daylight hours and some restaurants will be closed during this festival period. Activities for local people tend to be limited during the day, and the nights are very active in cities, with lots of different foods being sold and consumed. However, in hotel restaurants and tourist areas, food and drink are served as normal and Ramadan will not affect the inclusions on your trip. Liquor stores are likely to be closed for the month, but in tourist enclaves bars stay open (some may not allow alcohol outdoors – but inside is generally okay).

Yes. Trips to Jordan have been running as normal since the Israel conflict escalated in October 2023, and then again in June 2025 – check out our latest customer reviews! Much Better Adventures operate trips in line with the British FCDO travel advice and also consult with security advisors, both of whom have confirmed that trips are safe to run. We continue to receive real-time updates from the FCDO and our local host in Jordan will also inform us immediately should anything change locally. In case you have any questions, we have prepared some additional information about travel to Jordan during the Middle East Conflict.

For current Government advice about travelling in Jordan, have a read of the FCDO pages.

Tourists are not allowed to bring drones, binoculars, or some large telephoto camera lenses into Jordan. These will be confiscated at the airport and returned on departure, so please do not risk bringing these on your trip. Even if these are missed by airport security, your guide cannot allow them to be used, as this can have legal consequences if you are caught.

This trip operates in areas where daytime temperatures can reach extreme levels, with limited shade and, at times, high humidity adding to the challenge. These conditions can affect physical performance and increase the risk of dehydration or heat-related illness. Your guide will adjust the pace and monitor the group closely, but staying well hydrated, wearing suitable clothing, and using sun protection is essential.

Before travelling, consider your ability to remain active in high temperatures and consult a medical professional if you have any concerns, especially if you have cardiovascular or heat-sensitive conditions. Arriving a day or two before the trip may help you adjust gradually to the heat.

You shouldn’t drink tap water in Jordan. Your trip vehicle will have large containers of water that you are able to top your water bottles up with before and after each hike. At most hotels, drinking water should be purchased; unfortunately, very few hotels currently provide refilling stations.

In the event of heavy rain, strong winds or storms, conditions may be unsafe to complete the planned hikes. Your guide will monitor forecasts and make decisions with safety in mind. If needed, the itinerary may be adjusted and an alternative route or activity offered.
